About This Listing
Perfectly maintained pre-war apartment - classic hardwood, moldings, big bright windows + two perfectly charming cats. A cozy home for your New York adventures: the area's got style, excellent subway lines and dreamy Prospect Park.
This is a huge, gorgeous apartment -- with an eat-in kitchen, big bedroom (with queen bed), sunny living room and large studio-study. We're five minutes walking from Prospect Park, in the Flatbush/Lefferts Gardens neighbourhood. We are 3 blocks from the Church Ave B & Q stations and under a 20 min train ride from Union Square. And a 20min subway ride to Coney Island! Ideally, this would be a rental for one or two quiet people. Wireless internet included, laundry in building, great shower, all linens, etc. included.
We have two cats, Sophie and Bucket, who will be in the apartment when you are here, so ask for cat-lovers ONLY! They require the usual feeding and litter-changing with a small bit of time daily to snuggle/play.
You'll have access to everything - fast wifi, big fully stocked kitchen, washer/dryer in the basement, big bedroom with queen bed.
Interaction with Guests
We're always available by email or text, but our in-person interaction is usually limited to a welcome on the first day of your stay.
The neighbourhood is full of great 24 hr groceries, jerk chicken & roti shops, vegetarian and West Indian restaurants, great local pubs & Mexican restaurants, a 5 minute walk to Prospect Park and 15 min walk to Ditmas Park shopping/dining area.
Added features: we are walking distance to the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanic Garden and the Brooklyn Public (email hidden) Plaza. Also a lovely walk across the Prospect Park to Park Slope.
Super convenient B/Q lines (3 mins away) and Flatbush bus and vans (1 min away).
Other Things to Note
This is an ideal apartment for a couple who wants a great NYC home-away-from home, or someone who needs to get in and out of Manhattan for work or pleasure. It's also a great place for a writing retreat! There is also a pull-out couch in the living room, for guests. We are both academics, so the place is great for working & you will have access to high-speed wireless & all amenities. There is laundry in the building, available 8am-8pm.
Mostly, the rules have to do with our cats. The people who stay here need to be responsible for feeding them & taking care of their kitty litter. They are very easy going and the tend to entertain themselves, but a subletter who is up for some kitty cuddles now & then is the best! We've set the rental price of our apartment so low because we are looking for people who are cat-people. Also, this is a great friendly & quiet building. We love our neighbours & don't want to bug them, so the other rule is just no super-late & loud parties.
Large apartment, comfortable and clean. Close to several subway lines that allow you to get easily every point of manhattan.

We spent twelve nights in Jasmine & Theresas apartment in Brooklyn in June 2013. Apartment was located in a quiet neighborhood very close to subway station and bus stops, only a few blocks away. The apartment was charming and very spacious for two people. It had a nice and clean bathroom. Kitchen was huge and had absolutely everything we needed. The cats Sophie & Buck were great and very easy to get along with, actually nice to come home to :-]. Jasmine and Theresa were great hosts. Very nice and easy to communicate with. They also send a long list with info and tips about the building, the cats, nearby shops and restaurants - it was a huge help! We can really recommend this place to everyone. We had a wonderful time!
Me and my family had such a good stay at Jasmine and Theresa's place! The neighbourhood is lovely and it's quick and easy getting to Manhattan as well as other parts of Brooklyn. Communication with hosts was also very quick and we were given lots of suggestions on what to do and where to go. The cats were easy going and a joy to look after! I really recommend Jasmine and Theresa as hosts!
We had a great time in NYC in Jasmine & Theresa apartment! It was a very spacious and cozy apartment, near the subway, 20 minutes ride from center Manhattan.
Jasmine and Theresa were very thoughtful and provided us with valuable information about places to eat, drink, grocery shop and visit around the neighborhood.
Sophie the cat was a great hostess! She is adorable, very friendly and funny.
Thank you Jasmine & Theresa for this unforgettable stay in NYC!

About the Host, Jasmine And Theresa
We are both professors teaching in New York City; we rent out our apartment (with our two lovely cats) when we leave town; and we use Airbnb to find places when we travel. We're quiet folks who enjoy urban chaos as much as domestic calm as much as off-the-(website hidden)-streetview-grid retreats; we read and write and bike and clean up after ourselves.
