Romantic, relaxed getaway or rejuvenating adventure, you'll find it here. Experience one of the best ocean views on the Oregon coast from your own room and deck. You will not be disappointed. Over 250 couples have rated it 5 Star!
The main guest suite is in a separate wing of the house and consists of bedroom with king size opium bed and an attached living room with sofa that can be opened up into a queen sized bed. (There is a small extra charge if you have more than two guests in your party.) The suite overlooks the ocean and harbor with mountains in the background. The king sized bed is handmade from an antique opium bed, but with the modern comfort of a Chattam & Wells pillow top mattress. (We understand the importance of a good night's sleep!) Just through the sliding glass doors of your living room is a large deck with hot tub overlooking the ocean. We have a private acre lot so bathing suits are optional! Here you can relax and watch the moon glistening on the waves, the fishing boats arriving and departing, or the fog creeping down the mountains. Observant guests may see osprey, otters, seals, whales, or even the occasional mermaid.
You are welcome to use our large front room, joining us in lively conversation or reading a book and sipping on a glass of Oregon wine. For the music lover we have a baby grand piano for you to play while we form an appreciative audience.
Brookings-Harbor is on the Wild Rivers Coast of Oregon, 20 miles north of Crescent City, California and midway between Portland and San Francisco. Brookings has several excellent restaurants and art galleries. Live music is frequently featured in various venues. We enjoy a variety of natural beauty in this area, from some of the oldest Redwood groves to whitewater rivers to sand dunes to our beautiful rocky coast. We can point you to innumerable hiking trails along the coast or in nearby redwood forests.
The living room with fireplace and full ocean view. There is also an upstairs rec room with a 60 inch TV, Schwinn Exercise bike, treadmill and elipitical as well as yoga mats. A 2 person sauna is also available.
Interaction with Guests
We can interact as much or as little as you'd like. We love to meet new people and change strangers into our new friends.
Many parks and restaurants are within walking distance. Hiking will require a car to get to trailheads. Parking is included in our driveway for your car.
Other Things to Note
We can often arrange an in-home massage if you'd like this.
We are a smoke free home. You are welcome to use many of the facilities in our home as you would your own... exercise equipment, living room with fireplace, dining room, porch swing, the larger television upstairs for broadcast TV (you will have a smaller TV in your own room where you can watch movies). Please ask about use of washer/dryer, kitchen facilities, BBQ, bicycles. This usually can be arranged.
John and Nancy’s place was very relaxing and accommodating. We knew John and Nancy were going to be on a trip from the message I received after our last minute booking, but John assured us that there would be someone home. Sadly, we weren't able to meet John or Nancy after hearing all of their amazing reviews. However, the resident that was living there was warm and open and showed us around. We only stayed for a night, but it was a very rejuvenating experience. The bed and fireplace combination was amazing. We didn't get to use the Jacuzzi since we weren't there for that long, but the view from the patio was absolutely breathtaking. If we did not have to leave so soon, an early morning sunrise soak in the Jacuzzi overlooking the water would have been the cherry on top. I guess we’ll just have a visit again!
John and Nancy were more than welcoming. We truly felt at home from the moment we walked in. They will engage you as much as you feel comfortable. We really enjoyed the conversations as they are incredibly bright and interesting people. We only stayed one night, but wished it was more. The next morning they had already began making breakfast without us even asking. My husband and I are still talking about John's eggs!
Their home is clean and beautiful. You can not beat the view or the hospitality. If we ever make our way to Brookings again we'd definitely stay with John and Nancy again.
John & Nancy were incredibly welcoming and friendly. Thank you both so much for your hospitality!
Their home is beautiful and even the incredible pics you see don't do the view justice! The room was very spacious, private, and had one of the most (if not the most) comfortable beds I've ever slept in. Hot tub also an incredible bonus. John and Nancy (and I'd be remiss to not include their live-in friend Arnie) were absolutely fascinating people and the opportunity we had to chat and spend time with the 3 of them and their dogs (2 friendly and wonderfully behaved) was alone worth the price of admission. Whether you're passing through or just looking for a relaxing retreat this place is a can't miss.
We really enjoyed ourselves on this trip! John and Nancy were warm and friendly, the perfect hosts! The view from their house was better than I'd imagined, and the hot tub at night couldn't have been more relaxing! And the bed! It's the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in! I definitely recommend staying here with John and Nancy, in fact I'd love to stay there anytime I'm up that way!
We couldn't have found a nicer spot in Brookings! John and Nancy were delightful to be around. The accommodations were perfect, the breakfast spread was plentiful, and the hot tub was the icing on the cake. They even went the extra mile and set up a pack n play along with some of their grand kids toys for our boys. V We look forward to future getaways here!
This was our 2nd time staying here. We came to Brookings about a year ago and couldn't wait to get back. John and Nancy have a great set up. The 'Mermaid's Den' is everything they have listed it as and more. Clean and quiet private room and bath and full access to a hot tub that overlooks the coast. Not to mention, a great breakfast spread is included as well. Thank you, John and Nancy!
Great hosts with super friendly dogs. Make sure to come in before sunset to see the amazing view.
