About this listing
Private hot tub overlooking the ocean and harbor. Romantic, relaxed getaway or rejuvenating adventure, you'll find it here. Experience one of the best ocean views on the Oregon coast from your own room and deck. You will not be disappointed. Over 250 couples have rated it 5 Star!
The Mermaid guest suite is in a separate wing of the house and consists of bedroom with king size opium bed living room with sofa that can be opened up into a queen sized bed. (There is a small extra charge if you have more than two guests in your party.) The suite overlooks the ocean and harbor with mountain foothills in the background. The king sized bed is handmade from an antique opium bed, but with the modern comfort of a Chattam & Wells pillow top mattress. (We understand the importance of a good night's sleep!) Just through the sliding glass doors of your living room is a large deck with hot tub overlooking the ocean. We have a private acre lot so bathing suits are optional! Here you can relax and watch the moon glistening on the waves, the fishing boats arriving and departing, or the fog creeping down the mountains. Observant guests may see osprey, otters, harbor seals, sea lions, whales, or even the occasional mermaid.
You are welcome to use our large front room, joining us in lively conversation or reading a book and sipping on a glass of Oregon wine. For the music lover we have a baby grand piano for you to play while we form an appreciative audience.

We can point you to innumerable hiking trails along the coast or in nearby redwood forests.

The view from our room I'm sure is the best in Brookings! Big warm welcome from John on our arrival. We were made right at home, just what we needed after a very long drive. We had a great nights sleep and soaked in the view from the hot tub in the morning as the sun came up. Im pretty sure I saw a Sea Otter in the bay, or maybe it was as mermaid! Thanks John & Nancy.
What a great place to stay, we were upgraded to the Captains room which was a blessing, the room and bathroom was huge. John and Nancy made us feel so welcome in their lovely home. And what incredible views over the shoreline. Really yummy breakfast in the morning set us up for the day. We are so happy we chose to stay here, you will not be disappointed.
Absolutely great hosts. Friendly and fun people live here. Had great time at their place. Clean and spacious. Lots character. Felt like I was in a art gallery, which I love. Great view of the ocean as well.
John and Nancy were great. They opened up their beautiful home to us for two days. Each morning they made a wonderful spread, including eggs, pancakes, scones, oatmeal, toast, and a great assortment of condiments. The room was great having a wonderfully comfortable bed, private sitting area, and private access to the deck with our own private hottub, which overlooked the Pacific. We felt very at peace and they were kind enough to let us play some of our favorite songs on the piano. All-in-all we'd love to go back some time!
I would highly recommend staying at the Mermaid Suite. John and Nancy's incredible hospitality will make us come back the next time we are in the area. The view is stunning, the bed is beyond comfortable, and they made an incredible breakfast the next morning. Wow every penny!
