A unique geodesic dome sanctuary for long stays, medical & business travelers, seasonal snowbirds, writers, artists, birders, in Arizona's biodiverse Sky Islands, near Ramsey Canyon, historic Ft Huachuca, wild Tombstone, charming Bisbee & Sierra Vista, Hummingbird Capital. All are welcome to enjoy this special property! Rural, yet along a main road & WALKING DISTANCE to shops & services. The space
Our sweet lil’ High Desert Dome is a charming, completely self contained two story 1050 sq ft private house, with ADT monitored security (personalized access code given for each booking), two queen-bedded bedrooms, one bath with shower only, free WIFI, Alexa, Guest Access Roku/Fire TV for you to securely access your own streaming accounts, large open space living and dining room with full well appointed kitchen, washer/dryer, and covered parking.

LOCATION:
We are in a rural area yet easily accessible and located right off the main road. You will need a car for easy access all the wonders of the Sky Islands, and beyond. At the same time, you'll discover that we are one of the rare rural properties in the area conveniently located within walking distance to two great restaurants, two general stores, the US post office, a gas station with an ATM… and a medical clinic.

SPECIAL PROPERTY:
This is a one of a kind property with very unique touches throughout. For heating and cooling comfort you will find two mini-splits, a pellet stove and two plug-in heaters with remotes. This dome house has a fantastic insulation factor plus newer dual pane windows, newer flooring and newer kitchen appliances. The views of the mountains are spectacular. The exterior of the dome is 2 x 6 douglas fir framed with steel plugs, covered with black cellutex with 1/4'' lath still over which Pherro concrete is placed 2 to 3 inches thick over which polyurethane was sprayed 3 to 4 inches thick for insulation and the painted. Interior is 3 coat concrete (scratch, white, finish, painted). (Property overview is from the home listing of Apr 14, 2019.)

Guest access
Set on two acres of Southern Arizona grasslands, this sweet dome is a private structure. As our guest/s you'll have access to the entire place with two private double upstairs loft bedrooms (each with queen sized beds). The ground floor consists of one full bathroom with walk in shower, laundry, open space living room/dining/ full kitchen and small cozy library/office. There is also a covered carport for two vehicles and walled garden for guest use.

There is one private locked storage room inside by the laundry and one private locked storage shed outside at rear of property that are inaccessible to guests.

Other things to note
NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN UNDER 12
Children under age 12 are not allowed due to the unique structure of the two story Dome. There are safety concerns for young children , toddlers and babies, such as the un-gated landing at the top of the stairs and the bathroom being located on the ground floor while the bedrooms are on the upper floor. Any child 12 years + are welcome under the supervision of a confirmed adult guest and considered an additional guest. Please advise ages of all children and the names of all persons in your group to be confirmed.

HEALTH & SAFETY
As our guests, your safety and comfort have always been our main priorities. We continue to maintain high standards of sanitation and common sense health and safety protocols.

TRIP CANCELLATION INSURANCE
It's highly recommended that you purchase a travel protection plan to help protect you and your trip investment against the unexpected. Check online for protection plans through Travelex Insurance Services or Insure My Trip on the www.

Keep in mind that not all travel insurance covers pandemics or acts of war or God. You must look for CFAR insurance that “covers for any reason”.

FOR OUR GUESTS
Roasted coffee, instant de-caf, a variety of teas, along with simple items like oatmeal and miscellaneous snacks are provided for you to prepare at your leisure.

*Ground Floor Bathroom*
Be advised there is one full bathroom, with shower only (no bathtub), located on the ground floor, while the two private bedrooms (with one queen bed each) are located on the upper floor accessible by a staircase.

For those with limited mobility - it must be noted that, while there are grab bars, the shower in the bathroom is not ADA certified and requires one to step up and over a raised threshold into it.

STRICTLY NO SMOKING
It is important to note that while this unique property survived the Monument fire in 2011 we are located in a high fire hazard area of Southeast Arizona. Consequently we have a strict NO SMOKING POLICY anywhere on the property, inside or out.

WINTER / SPRING STAYS:
Mountain weather can be unpredictable. Please be advised that during the winter months into spring the Sky Islands can be chilly (down right cold, with light snow at times - if we’re lucky!). We provide you with a start up bag of Hardwood Pellets for the pellet stove to supplement the two wall mounted mini-split a/c's for heating (and cooling). There are also two plug-in ceramic heaters, with remotes, that you can plug in where you like. With that said, due the unique nature of a geodesic dome, be advised that while the upstairs bedrooms will be cozy and warm, the main "great room" may not warm up as much as some would like. Extra blankets are always available.

Neighborhood highlights

Our special place is set in the heart of old Nicksville (now Hereford) at the base of the mighty Huachuca Mountains,
amongst the spectacular Sky Islands of SE Arizona. It’s a wild nature and birding paradise, steeped in a richly storied Old West past. And still, it's a hidden gem.

An easy one and a half hour drive from vibrant Tucson and 15 minutes south of Sierra Vista, the shopping and medical center of SE Arizona. Sierra Vista is also the home of Fort Huachuca, one of the oldest Army Bases, home to the Buffalo Soldier legacy and continues to be an active center for US military intelligence.
