Interaction with Guests
We only interact with guests upon their arrival and departure, giving you your "space", but are happy to answer any questions and give advice if you need us. Just ring our doorbell (next door). Or email, phone us if we are not home. We are friendly but appreciate that people like to have privacy. Often we travel for business so if we are out of town, our housekeeper Maria will meet you and give you the keys and help make sure you are comfortable. You can call on her for help or message us through the system here and we'll get back to you asap.
The neighborhood is safe and usually quiet compared to some places in Peru. However, it's a good idea to pack some ear plugs just in case you are a light sleeper. Everyone gets up early here for work and daily activities.
We are an easy walk to the main plaza here in Urubamba. The bus terminal is best to use a "moto" to transport you & your luggage to & from. There are taxis for hire on the streets, especially near the main intersection of the town where the street light is. We also have some names of private taxis if you need a pick up and delivery to/from the airport in Cusco.
Other Things to Note
Please consider that this part of Peru is very rustic and undeveloped in many ways. You will not always have the comforts you may be used to at home. Therefore, glitches with hot water, internet, etc. can happen sometimes. We do our best to make sure everything is working and available for you.
No smoking in the studio. No outside guests, please. Only the people who have contacted us for rental are allowed to stay. There is an outside light on the entry door. Please use it when you go out at night but remember to turn it off when you come in for sleeping. Help us save electricity......thank you!
In Peru, toilet paper is put in the waste bin provded in the bathroom. Please do NOT put toilet paper or other items in the toilet.
Small mini-kitchen with refrigerator, two burner gas stove top, basic cooking & eating utensils and equipment.
We really enjoyed our little Urumbamba studio. It was quiet and clean, and perfectly located to explore the town. Lisbeth and Maria were both friendly and helpful. There to greet us, give advice, and make us feel comfortable. Generally I totally recommend staying in Urumbamba as a base to enjoy the Sacred Valley. The area is gorgeous, calm, and a change of pace from Cusco.
I can said that this little studio was perfect to me! I used It like a base to know the Sacred Valley. It was quiet and near to the main square of Urubamba. If you are looking a place to get unplugged this is the place. I could not know Diana But I was Welcome by the housekeeper. I had a Good time there!
Diana was a sweetheart! She helped us with taxi arrangements and made sure we were greeted properly. The studio itself is a very authentic Cuzco studio. Don't expect all the western luxuries but it had everything we needed. We loved the location but we were surrounded by locals, close to Machu Picchu, and away from the more "touristy" spots. If you're looking for an authentic experience, this is it! Thanks Diana for such a great experience!
Diana and her husband Gino were both very accommodating and very kind! Diana gave us a great dinner recommendation and made the apartment very inviting with fresh fruit and water. Their little apartment is very cute and close to the main plaza--it's a great place for a stopover on your way through the Sacred Valley. The only cons were that the electric shower head didn't do much more than turn the water from freezing to cold and there were some spiders in the apartment we had to deal with (Urubamba means something like flat valley of spiders though so I suppose it's aptly named).
Anyway, enjoyed our stay with Diana and recommend this place to any weary travelers looking for a low-key place to relax after Machu Picchu
First and foremost, my boyfriend and I could not have asked for a better host. It was our first time traveling to Cusco and Urubamba, and Diana was quick to answer each and every one of our questions from before we left the U.S. to the end of our stay in Cusco. Additionally, Diana works in the tourism industry so she was able to give incredibly helpful and detailed information ranging from how to get to Machu Picchu and where to rent a phone in Peru, to how much we should (and shouldn't) pay for taxi rides! On top of all this, Diana arranged our taxi ride from the Cusco airport to Urubamba which took a lot of the stress out of our travel experience. Upon arrival, we were met by Maria, who serves as Diana's in-country contact person / assistant. Maria is incredibly kind, super helpful, and was more than happy to set up transportation to various tourist sites in the Sacred Valley. Additionally, Maria stopped by every day to check in on us, make sure we had everything we needed, and answer any questions we had. She was a life saver throughout our stay! Please note, Maria is fluent in Spanish and speaks only a little English. We were able to get by with our high school Spanish skills, but google translate is always helpful! THE AREA / NEIGHBORHOOD: We absolutely loved it! My boyfriend and I didn't want to stay in Cusco with all of its hustle and bustle and opted instead for Urubamba. This was the best decision we made our entire trip. Urubamba is gorgeous! Fresh air, mountain views, a beautiful river, and a garden right outside the window of the apartment! We loved it. The area is extremely safe. You'll see people walking around at all times of night and day. Just make sure to look both ways before crossing streets, because the "motos" zip by! THE APARTMENT: We stayed for about a week and found that it was nice and cozy and met all of our needs. Even though it is a studio apartment, it's large enough for two people to live comfortably. We would definitely stay here again! THE KITCHEN: Diana was kind enough to provide fruit, tea, and 2 large bottles of water to get us started (a huge help upon arrival). There is a medium size refrigerator that was large enough for food from the market, left-overs from restaurants, and water bottles. There is also a gas stove with two burners (make sure to ask Maria how to turn on the gas). Diana provided pots, pans, dishes, silverware, and a tea kettle. THE BATHROOM: There IS hot water in the shower (make sure to ask Maria to show you how to make it work). This was absolutely fantastic since most places do NOT have hot showers (we learned this quickly during our trip). Diana provided towels, soap, and toilet tissue. THE LIVING QUARTERS: The bed was super comfortable and just...
