About this listing
Comfortable double room in quiet neighbourhood off of Victoria Park.
Comfortable double room in a quiet street just off of the Lauriston Road roundabout with its village atmosphere, good restaurants (Vietnamese, British, Sardinian, fish, Indian, etc.) and nice pubs. Access to the centre of London in half an hour. Easy access to Stratford Westfield/the Olympic Park, Canary Wharf and the East End.
Victoria Park is just around the corner. There are some nice places to have a leisurely breakfast and you can walk along the canal to Angel or out to the Lea Valley and see a slightly different side to London life. It's a good base for doing certain types of things - the East End markets: Brick Lane with its intriguing tat against a backdrop of graffiti and curry houses, Columbia Road with its colourful plant-sellers and beautiful flowers, and Spitalfields where the people are as interesting to watch as the stalls. Best of all for anyone willing to get up early, there is a bus which goes directly to Billingsgate fish market: almost a trip to another era and another great place to have breakfast.
It's also easy to get into the centre of town to see the sights. You can catch the tube at Mile End or Bethnal Green if you are in a hurry. If not, the buses take you on a route which is a good way to see London and get your bearings - through the City with its mixture of the old nestled beneath the sparkling new, the grandeur of St Paul's, the lights of the National Theatre reflected in the Thames, and the breathtaking beauty of Westminster.
The room has a double bed, chest of drawers, shelves and a clothes rail. It's simple, but comfortable.

Interaction with Guests
Depends - I'm sometimes there and sometimes not, but I like to give people room unless they want advice or a chat (whilst also trying to be friendly!)
Please can you...
Do your own washing up (properly!) and be (reasonably) tidy.
Be considerate of my neighbours and not make excessive noise late at night or early in the mornings.
Keep the windows closed unless you are in a room. It's as safe as any area in London, but I try not to tempt fate.
Lock the door when you leave – the top lock shuts automatically, but the bottom one needs a key.
I work in Cambridge, so tend to leave the house around 8:00 each morning. I’m usually in the bathroom around 7:30-8:00 so if you can be sensitive to that I’d appreciate it.
You are welcome to use sugar, tea, coffee, milk, etc. in the kitchen.
It is compulsory to recycle paper, cardboard, glass, tins and some plastics. Leave anything to be recycled in the bag hanging on the kitchen door. Please rinse bottles, etc. first.
We had a lovely stay at Jenny's home. The room is very comfortable and has all you'd need for a great stay. Good transport links and Victoria Park is a really great neighbourhood. Many thanks.
I stayed in Jennys flat for 3 nights and it was the best choice I could have made! Unfortunately I couldn't meet her personally, but I nevertheless felt at home. The flat is very cosy and has everything you need, the neighborhood is nice and quiet with shops close by and there is a good connection to the city via public transport. In the room there is a shelf with travel guides of London, which was awesome for me because I didn't have much time to plan my trip in advance. Jenny also provided a folder with useful information about the area. I was especially glad for her hint that the breakfast at Pavilion Cafe in Victoria Park was good - it was so yummy! :-) Altogether I spent a very relaxed weekend in London, thanks to her accommodation.
I spent 10 days in Jenny's room, and it was quite wonderful! She is a fantastic host, friendly whilst giving you space, and the flat is clean, tidy and a joy to stay in. Superb location. Couldn't recommend it highly enough!
My mum stayed in Jenny's flat which was super tidy and clean. My mum only had good things to say about the place which is located in the backstreets of trendy "the Village".
I've spent a month at Jenny's lovely flat in South Hackney: everything was pretty much perfect! Jenny is a great host, always available for advice, and the house is extremely comfortable and clean! The area has great bus connections to the tube, it's loaded with nice restaurants and pubs, and it's pretty much next to Victoria Park! I'd definitely recommend it!
The apartment is in really nice and quiet part of the city. Our room was cosy and tidy - same like in photos. The bed was really comfortable and bathroom was near and clean like rest of apartment. Apartment is only 30 minutes from centre of the town and transport to city by bus and subway is easy.
Jenny looks like nice young woman, but we didn't spend much time together. We saw each other only at start of our accommodation and at the end.
I can really recommend the accommodation in Jenny's apartment.
Great room, great area and great host!
Thanks Jenny for everything, you really made Riccardo and I feel very welcome. Jenny has a lovely home and we have no complaints whatsover , we highly reccomend staying here!
About the Host, Jenny
I've lived in London for 11 years in Victoria Park. I work in a museum creating exhibitions and other stuff. My interests are food, theatre and singing/preparing to sing with my choir. I suppose that London is another hobby - I like exploring the city and getting out to see things.
I've travelled quite a lot around the States, as well as Europe. If I could go anywhere in the world tomorrow, I'd follow Darwin's footsteps around Argentina - particularly Tierra del Fuego.
I live a fairly quiet life, and I'm quite tidy; happy to give people space, etc. etc..just ask; oh, and do your own washing up.
