Beautiful light attic! very central

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Calle de los Tres Peces, Madrid, Madrid 28012, Spain

The Space

This is a really light, sunny attic flat right in heart of Madrid in the popular Anton Martin/Lavapiés area. The area is very lively and multicultural so it's great for eating out and has loads of interesting bars and pavement cafes. The flat is close to two metro stops (Lavapiés and Antón Martín), several bus routes and not far from Atocha train station. It's also within really easy walking distance of:
- the Prado, the Reina Sofía and the Thyssen-Bornemisza art museums;
- Plaza Mayor, Gran Vía and la Puerta de Sol (for shopping and site seeing)
- La Casa Encendida and the Circo Price (just down the road)
- the Retiro (a park well worth visiting)
- the Rastro (Madrid's lively Sunday flea market)
- Plaza Santa Ana and Calle Huertas (nightlife and tapas)

The flat has lots of charm (sloping ceilings, wooden beams, traditional tiled floor, rooftop views) but (unlike lots of attic flats in Madrid!) the ceilings are high so you have lots of headroom. It's very quiet (despite the central location) and though it's not huge (50m2), it feels spacious and is very comfortable. The bedroom is large and there is loads of storage. There's a double bed in the bedroom, a big sofa bed in the lounge and the possibility of an extra single (fold out) bed if needed. It has a fully equipped kitchen, TV and WIFI. AND HAS AIR CON! The only thing it doesn't have is a lift (like lots of buildings in the centre of Madrid) but we can give a hand with bags if necessary (it's 4 floors).
Families are welcome - let us know if you need any lego!

The flat was our first home together so it is much loved! Most people who see it fall in love with it, so we're confident you will too! We'll also do our best to make you feel at home.

Check In
  • Anna was very accommodating about our check-in arrangements and had left fresh fruit and even baked us a cake to welcome us to Madrid. The flat was clean, tidy and everything worked (including reliable, fast WiFi). We were very comfortable, I can't fault anything with our stay and would highly recommend her flat to others.

  • Anna and Pablo were super hosts! They did their very best to help us with all we needed - including a weekend bed for our 1,5 year old son. The apartment had a great atmosphere and a good and central location. We had 4 wonderful days there. And would love to come back next time we go to Madrid

  • This apartment is cozy and very comfortable and large enough for 1-2 people. The apartment was clean and WiFi was fast.

The bathroom fit one average size person, but if you are tall or overweight the bathroom is a bit too small. The apartment is located on the 4th floor (no elevators), so be prepared to walk up/down four flights of stairs each time your enter/exit the building.

The location is good, very close to the Olivia metro station and an 8 minute walk to Plaza Santa Ana.

  • Pablo and Anna's beautiful and charming flat in Lavapies is perfectly located, in an authentically bohemian part of Madrid, close to the Puerto del Sol and a short walk to the major museums and the park. It is light and warm in winter, and probably airy in the summer. I would definitely stay there again.

  • Anna was a delightful host. She met us as the flat (cake in hand) and offered lots of great suggestions for places to visit during out stay.

The flat was clean and charming, with everything we needed for our stay. We instantly felt right at home. It's in a good location making it easy to pop out and explore the area. Though the stairs are not for the faint hearted.

Would gladly stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Madrid.

  • The flat was peaceful but (email hidden)ly and very nice neighbourhood. Good museums at walking distance and metrostation nearby. Extra thanks for the excellent reading lights in the flat. We can sincerely recommend Annas flat and would be ready to stay there next time we are staying in (website hidden). the flat is decorated with good taste.

  • We loved staying in Anna's (email hidden)eat apartment building and good exercise climbing the stairs! Everything was spotless and well presented. The cake was delicious and such a good tradition.

The area is a little dodgy we felt; apart from that, we would definitely stay at Anna's again.

    Response from Anna:

I'm sorry if you found the area a little dodgy, Miranda. I think you must have been unlucky because we have always found the area quiet and safe and have never heard otherwise from our guests. I'm glad it didn't stop you enjoying the flat though!

  • This was a perfect place to stay for exploring Madrid. The flat was very comfortable and Anna and Pablo were very responsive to any queries. I would thoroughly recommend it.

    September 2013
  • We really enjoyed staying in Anna's beautiful attic apartment. It was such a a great location from which to explore inner & outer Madrid and such a comfortable hideaway to come home to at the end of a long day of exploring. We would definitely want to stay there again whenever we came to Madrid.

We're Pablo and Anna. Pablo is a graphic designer who runs his own studio in Madrid and Anna... well, at the moment, she looks after our three kids, but she used to work in film & TV. She was born in the UK but has lived in Spain for 20 years. Pablo is a 'Madrileño' but has lived all over Spain. We love old houses, mountains, peace & quiet and rural living (until recently, we lived in the mountains near Granada in the south of Spain) but now, we're firmly back in the hustle and bustle of Madrid. Anna loves theatre and spends the summer running workshops for the kids in the village where we used to live (Pablo usually gets roped in as an actor!). She also loves cooking (she bakes LOTS of cakes), walking and curling up with a good book. Pablo likes painting, drawing & all things design-related. (He's also really good at stuff like paper folding). When he's not being creative he likes watching the world go by from a terraza. The flat we are renting out was our first home together (where we had our first baby and where we were really happy). Most people think the flat has a great vibe about it (and we couldn't agree more!) - we hope you enjoy your stay.
