Just renovated apartment, comfy and spacious, perfect for a couple. A great attention to details has been paid while furnishing; the décor reflects the personal taste of the owner, a professional Italian artist. At the same time everything has been created to ensure practicalness and simplicity. Order and cleannless are guaranteed, for both the apartment and linens. The kitchen is equipped with all the necessary tools. The area is peaceful, but at the same time close to night life. There are several possibilities for public transportation: metro (MM Sant´Agostino, Porta Genova) and trams(14,29,30) are at a walking distance.
The flat is located in the area between the Naviglio Grande and Via Solari, where in the last fifteen years many former industrial areas were converted to spaces devoted to cultural and creative activities.
The whole neighborhood was improved by this transformation, many existing residential buildings were refurbished and new ones appeared. This neighborhood is very close to the city centre, and now is a pretty unique mix of rural memories, 19th-century urban development and later industrial organisations, with factories and workers' housing.
Following the closure of manufacturing industries, this area became a very peculiar urban site.
Decommissioned factories were transformed in workshops, studios, schools and showrooms that reshaped the whole neighborhood. Today, the area has residential buildings, traditional and innovative
production sites, in spaces enhanced by the work of artists and designers. It is an interesting melting pot,
where one can easily meet artists, fashion models and factory workers sitting side by side at lunch break in the traditional neighbourhood milk shops and "trattorie". Trendy venues keep opening, and (email hidden)ly nightlife. For all these reasons, the area is extremely interesting, and has become a typically
Milanese symbol of successful transformation; without too many stiff regulations, it has succeeded in keeping true to its industrial heritage and social diversity.
If you live in Milan, you know the double life of the Zona Tortona. There is the “normal” look of the area with the morning bustle of the people coming to the neighborhood to work. Men with neckties and dark suits and women in their impeccable professional clothes working in the business, finance and marketing offices and the creative crowd of workers in their more informal attire, by no means less “design oriented”, just more individualist. During the week of the Milan Furniture Fair – the Salone del Mobile , an amazing thing happens: the whole area transforms itself into a sort of theatrical “stage” where performances are played at all hours of the day. Zona Tortona hosts also showrooms and catwalks during Milan fashion weeks. During these periods several events take place all day and night long.
