Norm's place was great for a friend and I to stay the week while we were working in Honolulu. By far the best part is the location. Very close to everything we needed! The room had plenty of space for the two of us and the kitchen made some in-house meals, morning coffee, etc. very easy. Overall it was a great experience and cheaper than most week-long stays in Waikiki.
Owesome location! Great stay! Wonderful hosts. I had a great time staying here!
We loved staying with Norman. The accommodations exceeded our expectations. We come to Honolulu about four times a year for business/vacation. We really like the Fort Derussy location as a home base for visiting Honolulu/Oahu. Previously we had stayed at hotels in the area. From now on, Norm's Airbnb will be our home base here.
Norm is very responsible, friendly and a very good guy to know. An unexpected bonus is that in the months before and after the winter solstice, the sunrise is very visible and beautiful from the large room window overlooking the canal and back of Diamond Head.
My friend and I lived at Norman's apartment for 9 nights. We had a great experience-convenient location (close to the beach, shopping and dinning) and very nice apartment(fully equipped kitchen and great view which you could see the sun rise from Diamond Head).
Norman is more like a friend advising where to go, what to do in town and very responsive for all the questions we had.
Btw,the brunch at Cream Pot downstairs the building is awesome!
This place was perfect! Norman was extremely friendly and responsive to my requests. The unit was exactly as advertised and was a really great find.
It had everything I needed for my stay - reliable internet, TV, full kitchen including pots, pans, full stove so I could save money cooking some of my meals.
Dealing with (website hidden) to find a reputable place was a headache! I was so relieved to find this place on Airbnb.
The two of us stayed here for 9 nights. It was everything we needed to experience a great vacation. The place is small, but clean. No balcony, but an amazing view. Everything we needed, Norman was able to provide. The place is in a good neighborhood, a short walk from everything. We highly recommend this place.
I couldn't have been more happy with my stay here in Waikiki!! I feel like I got very lucky when I made this decision through Airbnb because I had no idea how convenient this spot would be since I had never been to Hawaii before. I stayed here for 5 weeks while doing an internship right outside Waikiki. Norman's place was just a couple minutes of walking to the beautiful Waikiki beach, there were more shopping options than you could ever imagine as you walk down the street, there was a beautiful canal for running in the morning/afternoon, the pool was always quiet, clean, & peaceful, laundry was convenient & easy, the building felt safe & secure along with the Waikiki area in general, there were bus stops within 2-4 minutes, and activities in this area were endless. I didn't even need to rent a car during my stay, I could either walk to my destination or catch the bus which came every 10-15 minutes or so.
Norman was incredibly friendly & helpful also! He was pretty much the idea person to rent from! The room was small but it was just me staying here so it ended up feeling cozy & perfect. I chose this place mostly because of the full kitchen, it was nice because Norman already had a lot of things I would have needed (dishes, blender, etc). The room was very clean upon arrival. I liked the layout of the room, the AC worked well, the window view was incredible, the bed was comfortable, the internet was quicker than at my own home, the place was very quiet & I could never hear any neighbors. My friend from Virginia came & stayed for a week in the other bed since the room is for up to two people and she loved it just as much as I did. I would most definitely stay here again if I travel back to Waikiki! :D
I stayed here for 4 weeks and everything was pretty much perfect. The apartment has everything you need. I especially liked the fully equipped kitchen, the reliable internet and of course the badass view.
I also liked the location. Ok, its not right at waikiki beach but it takes about 10min to walk there and also about 15min to reach the big Ala Moana mall (this is also a major bus transfer point). So everything is reasonably close.
The building itself is a Hotel for the first ~24 floors. The apartment is on the 26th floor and can not be reached by the hotel guests. Apartment owners have their own set of key-locked elevators. Also security staff seems to be on duty 24/7. Its totally safe imo.
Lauren, Normans local manager, lives on the same floor and was always helpfull when needed.
All in all its the ideal setup to fully focus on your valuable vacation time.
My wife and I rented in this room for a month upon moving to Hawaii as a temporal living room . We are totally satisfied with our stay here. The room is clean including cabinets and bathroom. We had a couple of minor troubles during our stay such as room keys and the internet connections, but Norman respond to my inquiries very fast whenever we had problems, and solved any issues very quickly. The location is very convenient and the room is secure. The only disadvantage was a parking. We have to pay a monthly fee separately to park in the garage of this hotel, which was somewhat costly. But overall we enjoyed our stay. I would definitely rent this room again if we required the stay nearby Waikiki in the future.
GREAT LOCATION, AWESOME VIEWS, MEMORABLE HOLIDAY!
Stayed here for 31/2 weeks and would defintely stay here again. You're just around the corner from Kalakaua Ave (main street for all your shopping!), and 5mins walk to Hilton Hawaiian Villiage, where the beautiful beaches are less crowded. Opposite Hilton Hawaiian Villiage you can catch the bus there to Ala Moana Mall.
Just around the cnr from your apartment (26th floor), is the Cheeseburger Restaurant, ABC Store (Aloha Brings Customers), Subway, Pharmacy and one place we highly recommend is "CAPITAL ONE" a bank/cafe! No charge when making withdraws at the ATM here and NO GST on their food/drinks!! Staff are very friendly!
The apartment is spaceous for 2, and decor is modern, the bathroom is a bit outdated, however, it's clean and it works. There's a few marks on the fridge/freezer but thats people not taking care. And yes, there's a decent size swimming pool. ;o)
I found Norman to be very genuine and helpful. He always replied to my many enquires, which gave me a peace of mind. And from all the previous stories, we chose Norman because of his TRUST factor!
We also stayded 10 days in his other apartment ( one queen size bed), next door. This apartment is very modern though-out! Loved the decor! :o)
We got to meet Norman's Mananger, Lauren. She was there to meet us with the key. Just a phone call away. Lovely young lady.
You can't go wrong with any of these apartments - if you're wanting 'PEACE OF MIND' take your pick?!
