Interaction with Guests
If you rent my room, I will mostly not be there, but my roommate, Stacy, will be. One of us will meet you when you arrive. Stacy has a lovely little dog, Max, who is a cocker spaniel/poodle mix (15 pounds-ish) and so very allergy-friendly.
The neighborhood is Windsor Terrace, just a 5 minute walk from beautiful Prospect Park, with the new Lakeside skating complex, 3.5 mile running/walking loop, farmers markets, Celebrate Brooklyn concerts in the summer, free yoga...! We are just 3 blocks from the subway and right around the corner from the great little neighborhood main street with fantastic coffee shops, restaurants and bars.
3 blocks from the F/G train at 15th and Prospect, plus several bus lines (B61/B67/B69) within a few minutes.
Please note, if you fly in to JFK, we are approximately 90 minutes away, give or take 15 minutes, depending on traffic and if you checked bags.
Other Things to Note
If you plan to arrive after 10 p.m., please let us know when you inquire, as we need to be up to check you in and both of us work during the day. Thank you!
Just the usual common courtesy - quiet if coming home late, wash dishes as used, keep bathroom and living areas clean. No smoking at all. No other pets please.
I totally felt at home. Lindsey's roommate Stacy was very friendly, considerate, and went out of her way to make me feel welcome. Picking up the keys was no problem. The neighborhood is also great. The only frustrating thing was the F-train, which is local. So it takes a long time to reach the place from Manhattan. Lindsey did give me an estimate of the time it would take, but the weekend subway schedule just made it a bit difficult. The room was just as she had listed it.
When I arrived in the neighborhood, it was easy to get to my host Lindsey's lovely apartment. I know the neighborhood well, as my daughter lived around the corner! Lindsey, and her apartment mate, Stacy, were gracious and helpful! The room was large, with the tasteful, comfortable furnishings you see in the photos. I loved being able to adjust the heat and let fresh air in through windows that open! Lindsey (and Stacy) were friendly, and I felt so comfortable with them. They also allowed me the space to come and go as I needed. I loved having a cup of coffee in the morning and being free to cook breakfast in their bright, shiny kitchen before heading out for the day. The apartment was very quiet. I slept very well on the supremely comfy bed in "my" room for the week of my stay. Max, Stacy's small spaniel, was friendly and affectionate; I enjoyed his company as well. I was so fortunate to stay with Lindsey and Stacy and I couldn't have asked for more helpful, considerate hosts.
I reserved this room for my mother who was coming to visit; my husband, son, and I live right down the street. The room was very comfortable for her -- very spacious, homey, and welcoming inside a well-kept, inviting apartment. We live in the neighborhood so obviously we agree that it is a great locale in the heart of a wonderful city. I would definitely reserve the room again for out of town guests. Lindsey and Stacy were very communicative and helpful and made us feel very welcome.
Lindsey did a great job of making it easy to check in even though she was not present. The apartment was easy to find and in a neighborhood close to restaurants, shopping and the park. Her roommate Stacy was the perfect host, friendly but gave us a lot of space. Stacy's dog was amazingly well behaved, did not bark and also gave us a lot of space but was sweet and friendly. The room is very cozy, private and quiet. We were very comfortable.
Lindsey's room was perfect for our short stay. Very clean, plenty of privacy, spacious an a very comfortable mattress. Are was extremely kind and welcoming. Her dog, max, is a real sweetheart. Easy walk to public transportation. We would definitely recommend.
About the Host, Lindsey
Currently living in Brooklyn and love it, but I'm more of a small-town person. I love to explore new parts of the world, and eat and drink local cuisine. I'm a counselor who works with university students and also part-time for a non profit that supports girls and their families. I love to use airbnb because I can see how real people live in a location, not a sanitized tourist version.
