  • I should start out by saying that we did not actually stay in this room because Cindy put us in another one in the same apartment. So, my comments will mostly be about the apartment and coordination with the host.

I was surprised because this is the first Airbnb I have booked that is an apartment just for rental, since no one lives there full time. (Since there are three rooms, you could potentially share the apartment with several other guests without a locking door if that's an issue. We were by ourselves.) However, it has most of the things that you will need. (The one thing that we wanted was a microwave, which it seems like a lot of folks don't have these days.) The apartment is very clean and looks more or less like the pictures. The location is very convenient, since we could access Harlem on foot and the rest of Manhattan by express train (15-20 mins). The park across the street (email hidden) to hang out, and everyone around the building was friendly. I was a little put off by the outward appearance of the place, but inside is a gem. There are tons of great places to eat nearby—our favorite was a little Senegalese restaurant with delicious food. Plus, they deliver. There is also a ton of free street parking for people like us who are driving in.

The biggest drawback about this place was the host. Cindy is difficult to communicate with and very disorganized. I should have a had a clue when she responded to my original inquiry with the wrong name, but I let it pass. She didn't get back to me about a couple questions I had about the place. When we finally connected, she was surprised that I was bringing a baby even though I had clearly mentioned that in my original email. Then, the biggest of surprises is that she prepared the wrong room for us (with a full size bed that squeaks and feels like it's going to fall over when you get into it). She said she would get us into the other room, but came up with several excuses about why she ultimately couldn't. It was a big disappointment, for sure. She is managing so many different properties, it seems, that the details escape her. It ended up being a difficult stay for us because we are two adults with a baby who co-sleeps and there wasn't enough room for us on the bed. Plus, we all woke up anytime someone moved. I'm not sure about the quality of the bed in this room, but from what we scoped out, it seemed to be better.

  • Great stay in a nice appartment with a great view from the floor.
Cindy was (email hidden), we felt really welcomed and we were free to use the kitchen, livingroom and bathroom.
Metro is only 5 min walking and there lots of little delis and a supermarket around the corner.
I really recommend to stay here!

  • Cindy's apartment was a joy to live in: it's modern, very clean and comfortable. The room is pleasant to live in and the bed is very cozy, so one can get a good night's sleep. Cindy was talkative, friendly and polite, not to mention well-organized and helpful: she took us all for dinner to the local jazz bar, where we met the wonderful musicians and had some great local food. I shouldn't forget to mention that the apartment is more conveniently located than might seem at first glance: the express subway gets you downtown in 10 minutes or so. I would certainly recommend!

  • Wonderful first experience using airbnb. Cindy (email hidden), gave some recommendations on broadway shows, subway navigation etc. that were useful for visiting NYC. The apartment is only a few blocks away from the nearest subway station so that was super convenient and the price was great for my friend and I as we were on a budget. Cindy was super sweet and accommodating and really made the overall experience that much better for our trip. I would definitely recommend (email hidden) to anyone thinking of it and even though you may think Harlem is too far from all the tourist sights it really isn't. There is an express on 125th street which is near where we were and we were only 2 stops away from Times Square. I think it took us 10min if that.
There weren't that many cafes or anything like that near us but its really easy to stop off on the West Side at a cafe or wherever your destination is on your trip. If you're looking for a place that fits your budget while still being nice and comfortable then this is one to consider for sure. Again it was a quick trip into the heart of the city and not that far from Central Park and Columbia University
Side note you're in Harlem so don't expect the building or surrounding area to be a 5 star resort but it really is fine and my friend and I felt perfectly fine (being two girls traveling alone) walking to/from subway even at 4am. Be smart and aware of your surroundings which anyone should do anywhere
Overall my friend and I really enjoyed our experience using airbnb and staying at Cindy's place. She really (email hidden) and I would stay at Cindy's place again if I make a return trip to NYC

  • We really enjoyed our stay in Cindy's apartment. The room was lovely with ample space with a pretty great view. The whole apartment is really clean and the bathroom is huge! The location did look a tad far away on the map at first, but turned out to be really convenient - it's about 3 blocks from the subway with an express line that'll get you downtown in ~10-15 mins.
Cindy was such a lovely and relaxed host. She gave us a bunch of recommendations for restaurants and bars (close by and in the village) and was genuinely interested in our plans whilst in NY. We'd definitely recommend Cindy and her apartment to any travellers searching for friendly and affordable accomodation
