The Llama Lodge is the ultimate place to come and stay for holidays and trips in Pembrokeshire and Wales.
A log cabin comprising of a large living area and kitchen, separate bedroom, and bathroom, The Llama Lodge is utterly unique and original in that it is the only place you can stay whilst llamas press their noses up against the windows!

The space
The Llama Lodge is based at Glanrhydwilym farm - home of Pembrokeshire Llama Trekking. Why not book in with us (prior to arrival) to take your very own llama for a walk during your stay? (additional charges apply for llama walks).
Also based on site is our registered charity The Llama Sanctuary - we deal with the majority of llamas that need rehoming in the UK. We have numerous rescues on site, and this number is growing all the time!
Glanrhydwilym (meaning ‘the bank of Gwilym’s ford’) sits snuggly on the side of the wooded valley of Rhydwilym, which in turns is nestled just south of the Preseli mountains and Pembrokeshire National Park.
In addition to our eighteen llamas, also in residence are four (formerly feral) cats, a few orphaned lambs, the customer liaison turkey Sir Patrick Moore (not for Christmas), 9ish chickens, several rescued geese, Fintan the livestock guardian dog (fox guard), and Moshka the Old English sheepdog / Bernese Mountain dog cross. We sometimes have a free range hedgehog family who are often seen after dark, depending on time of year. In the warmer months, our family of bats descend from the roof of the main house and soar across the valley looking for food (70+ on last count).
On a clear night, the Llama Lodge is a great place to star gaze - Pembrokeshire boasts some of the best dark sky opportunities in Britain, and on a good night it is possible to observe the spectacle of the Milky Way or the constellations such as Orion with the naked eye. Also at night, you are likely to hear plenty of owls calling. Depending on the season, they can be quite rowdy! Aside from the owls, the only other noise is the roar of the river Cleddau down below in the valley below.

Double futon (please tell us IN ADVANCE of your arrival if your party requires the futon so that we can set it up for you and supply bedding. Ensure you have selected the correct number of guests in your booking so the cleaner can supply the correct amount of linen, or you will end up having to share).
Wifi (speed will vary between approx 20 mbps up to 300mbps depending where you are on site. Inside the lodge you should reliably get at least 20-25 mbps which is suitable for most every day uses: web browsing, email, video calls, video streaming etc)
A travel cot and high chair can be provided upon request - please tell us when booking whether your child requires a travel cot or is old enough to use futon so that we can prepare everything ahead of your arrival (since airbnb just says ‘child’ and we won’t know how old your child is until you arrive).

Early checks ins (before 4pm) are not normally available. There will usually be guests checking out of the lodge on the same day that you check in, and the cleaners don't usually finish cleaning until just before 4pm.
***Important - number of guests staying***
Please ensure you select the correct number of guests when booking (unless you all want to share a single bed!)
We need to know in advance if there are more than two guests, as there are additional costs that need to be factored into the booking, so please ensure you select the correct amount of people. If you make a mistake you can edit the number of guests after booking.
If a different amount of guests arrive to that stated when booking, we will need you to pay the difference prior to allowing you to stay.
Allergies:
Note that many guests enjoy feeding our cats and allowing them to stay in the lodge during their stay. We don’t mind this, but as a result anyone booking should be aware that due to the high number of guests feeding the cats, they will expect to come inside with you. The lodge is thoroughly cleaned between stays, but guests should note that the listing is not necessarily suitable for people with cat allergies or those who are not keen on cats.
If you are sensitive to allergens or old wood this listing may not be suitable for you: the lodge is over 18 years old and has some historical damage to some of the walls. Whilst this was long ago remedied, wood naturally retains some moisture depending on the time of year. If you think this may be an issue for you, please consider alternative accommodation.
*If you want to live in nature, then you must accept living amongst nature*
You may be visited by various insects during your stay. There may be cobwebs in the lodge. This is all part of living in a natural structure. Guests may also encounter animal waste outside the lodge. This is part of living in nature and on a farm.

If your visit is a surprise for someone in your group, we are happy to help / use discretion, but please let us know in advance if you are planning something, otherwise we will assume everyone in your party knows what they are doing and may end up inadvertently spoiling your surprise!
Guest access
Full unrestricated private access to the entire Llama Lodge plus the areas immediately outside - llamas, poultry, seating areas, parking areas etc.
Other things to note
Call Treks:
Llama treks are available for guests to book - but please note that with so much activity taking place on the farm, in most instances you will need to contact us in advance if you wish to participate in this activity. Logs:
We supply enough logs and kindling to last on average two nights. Matches and paper supplied. Guests may want to bring fire lighters if they aren't used to lighting fires with matches and paper.
Additional Costs:
Extra logs - £10 for a large crate (same size crate as used by supermarket delivery companies)
Llama treks - £45 per person (approx 2 hours / 3 miles)
Eggs - £2 for 6 (can usually be purchased from the main gate)
Llama poo compost - £5 per bag
Check In / Out:
Check in time at the Llama Lodge is anytime from 4pm onwards.
We ask that all guests vacate the Lodge by 12 midday so that we can prepare the Lodge for the next guests arriving later in the afternoon.
Electrics:
The Llama Lodge is connected to mains electricity. However, there is a limit on how many electrical appliances can be plugged in at any one time. Phone chargers, hair dryers and other small appliances should be fine, but please do not bring any high power devices, such as electrical heaters, as these will trip the power supply to both the lodge and the main house.
Out of season visits:
In the colder months you may wish to bring slippers or thick socks, as the wooden floor can be quite cold, especially if the log burner is not lit. Guests may also want to bring their own extra logs for the fire - please ensure they are well seasoned if so, otherwise they can damage the chimney and / or pose a fire risk. Please do not bring coal as the burner is not designed for this. Please do not burn cardboard as this generates a huge amount of ash, and the ash tray is very small.
Note that some outside areas can get quite muddy in the colder months - especially around the llamas, so you may wish to bring wellies.
