Welcome to The St Clares Hideaway.

This self contained apartment has panoramic sea views from both the bedroom and the private deck, and is only minutes from the seafront.

The deck overlooks our illuminated water cascade.

St Clares Hideaway is close to the town centre and easy walking distance to the seafront, restaurants, pubs, shops, bus stops, Victorian promenade, cafes and wonderful walking routes.

St Clares Hideaway has its own free, private parking accessed from Kings Bay Road.

The space
The Hideaway is a self contained apartment with fantastic sea views and a private deck; it is a perfect couples retreat to get away for a relaxing break in the fantastic seaside town of Ventnor.

The Hideaway has a TV (connected to the internet, so comes with catchup TV, but bring your own codes for Amazon and Netflix) and a DAB/Bluetooth Radio.

The room has full gas central heating and double glazed french doors leading out on to its own private deck.

It has a small shower room with toilet, and a separate basin with stage makeup lights in the room.

The Hideway is accessed via steep stairs either up from the private car park or down from the street level, so its not really suitable if you have restricted mobility.
We cannot stress enough that if you have problems walking or struggle with steep stairs then please dont book the Hideaway! There are hand rails on the stairs but they are not continuous ie. there are short sections in between.

Bath and hand towels are provided.

So that guests may make a drink on arrival, we leave fresh milk in the fridge, tea, coffee and sugar, plus a bottle of wine and some local Isle of Wight biscuits!
There is a toaster and knives and plates situated under the sink if you wish to make yourself breakfast!

The Hideaway has Wi-Fi. Mobile phone reception is limited due to the position of the cottage to the nearest cell tower.

To access the private car park (you will have your own car park space), go down Madiera Road, turn right into Kings Bay Road. Go all the way to the end of Kings Bay Road until you see the sea on your left, and turn right onto the gravel drive.( Signposted Private Drive. Strictly No Turning). Drive straight up the drive, and turn left at the end (signposted access St Clare ) - this takes you into the private shared car park. Park in the space next to the silver sports car. Go up the stairs, turn right at the top, and up the next flight and you'll have found it - there's a key safe outside the patio doors - open that and you can get the key to open them.

Guest access
Guests have access to the room, the bathroom and their own private deck with sea views.

Location

Isle of Wight, England, United Kingdom

Ventnor is a seaside resort and civil parish established in the Victorian era on the south-east coast of the Isle of Wight, England, eleven miles (18 km) from Newport. It is situated south of St Boniface Down, and built on steep slopes leading down to the sea. The higher part is referred to as Upper Ventnor (officially Lowtherville); the lower part, where most amenities are located, is known as Ventnor. Ventnor is sometimes taken to include the nearby and older settlements of St Lawrence and Bonchurch, which are covered by its town council. The population of the parish in 2016 was about 5,800.

Ventnor became extremely fashionable as both a health and holiday resort in the late 19th century, described as the 'English Mediterranean' and 'Mayfair by the Sea'. Medical advances during the early twentieth century reduced its role as a health resort and, like other British seaside resorts, its summer holiday trade suffered the changing nature of travel during the latter part of that century.

Its relatively sheltered location beneath the hilly chalk downland produces a microclimate with more sunny days and fewer frosts than the rest of the island. This allows many species of subtropical plant to flourish; Ventnor Botanic Garden is particularly notable. Ventnor retains a strongly Victorian character, has an active arts scene, and is regaining popularity as a place to visit.

We do have 2 very friendly cats called Gingey and Marmite. You will definitely get a visit from one of them, particularly Gingey! If you are adverse to cats or have a cat allergy then please dont book the Hideaway!
