The Space

Surrounded by beautiful history and nature, our house is Bunratty’s traditional and themed Irish Bed and Breakfast. Just opposite Bunratty Castle and five minutes from the historic and picturesque village of Bunratty with its sights, shopping, bars and restaurants, including the world famous Durty Nelly’s and Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. We've a great location and you can actually see Bunratty Castle itself from the front foor and bedroom windows.

We offer deluxe accommodation, home cooking, a great range of attractions and activities and the benefit of our local knowledge whether your trip be for business or pleasure. Our total capacity is 24-30 people.

We pride ourselves on our personal touch. We are definitively not a hotel, we are a family oriented B&B that work hard to make sure you have an amazing stay with.

Our breakfasts are included in the price and we offer the full continental spread, including tea, coffee, homemade scones, bread and irish soda bread, cheeses, meats, cereals, jams, etc. We are also more than happy to supply a full cooked Irish breakfast for a small extra charge, which is payable locally.

We also do evening meals that guests are more than welcome to join in on and we love nothing more than sitting around with our guests and having a good blether.

We also like to offer our guests a free cup of tea and some scones and jam when they arrive as we want you to know how welcome you are in our home.

At the Bunratty Castle Mews no request is too big and we will work hard to meet any special requirements you may have. We have staged family reunions and special events, we have dressed rooms for Valentine's day in the past for example, with flowers and petals.

We have also organised traditional Irish marriage blessings in the local church for those looking for a fun and meaningful way to engage in the local culture. We have even staged a celtic wedding.

We're always open to new experiences and new ideas. If you have something interesting that you want to use our bed and breakfast for then please just message me and we'll see what we can work out!

We sometimes have evening entertainments in the house itself, including a traditional story teller (shanakey). There are also really warm, authentic local pubs as this is not just a tourist area. At Durty Nelly's, our local pub, you will meet real locals (often whether you want to talk to them or not!)

  • We LOVED staying with Doloris! My older daughter says that when she comes back she's staying with her "Irish Auntie". The room was very clean and the beds were just right for a family of 4 (2 parents and 2 daughters). The location was so close to the airport and the Bunratty Castle. We also enjoyed the morning breakfast (abundant) and the lovely breakfast room. It was a great first night in Ireland.

  • Dolores is a delightful lady who is clearly quite house proud. She takes extra time to make sure that her guests have a clean, comfortable room and that they have what they need. We were lucky enough to have a room with a view of the paddock and animals which was delightful and relaxing. We enjoyed our breakfast very much, too! Thanks for the hospitality.

  • Wonderful location--right near the airport, and since we had early morning flights, it was perfect.

  • Delores was a wonderful host. She was super with the kids and very attentive to our needs. She even made as thermos of tea for us to take along on one of our adventures. Would go back in a heartbeat.

  • Dolores has the most inviting and accommodating place and we felt right at home in Bunratty. We would gladly stay there again!

  • Dolores was a delight! She let us stay an extra night when our previous accommodations ended up being lousy. She was so friendly and entertaining and we had a great time staying with her. The place is beautiful as well and has lots of character. We enjoyed the location as well.

  • We had a great time! Dolores was great and the accommodations were spotless. She is also a marvelous cook and the Irish breakfast is to die for!

    June 2014
  • Our accommodations were clean and comfortable. We especially liked the carafes of cold filtered water kept in refrigerator in hallway for guests; that was refreshing after a long day of travelling and sight seeing. We chose not to pay the additional price for breakfast as we wanted to head out early anyway. Dolores was very nice.

  • I cannot recommend Dolores and Bunratty Castle Mews highly enough!!!!
The welcome and treatment I received was second to none. From the moment I arrived and the tea and biscuits made to greet me, her local knowledge which was invaluable in my quest to discover my ancestry and the unforgettable Full Irish Breakfast which set me on my way every morning. My stay could not have been better. I for sure would stay there again in a heartbeat.
Thank you for a memorable stay

I own and run a local B&B just opposite the lovely Bunratty Castle. I have a family of 4 boys and we all love to welcome visitors to Ireland. I know the area like the back of my hand and am happy to recommend all the finest and most interesting things in the area. We love nothing more than welcoming interesting people from around the world and getting to know them over a cup of tea and scone. We hope that you will come and visit us soon!
