About this listing
Welcome to Friesland.
The 'old' front side of our farm is a guest house where we look forward to receive you.
The farm was built in 1880 and has a renovated, new part at the backside where we live - as well as a historic front part where you can stay.
The guest house has a stylish interior and enough space, with a kitchen, a bathroom, a living room, a bedroom and another big room. We don't offer bed and breakfast, but of course there are some basics in the fridge when you arrive.
Internet is available, as is satellite TV and of course there's enough space to park your car.
The next farm is about 300 metres away. On clear nights, all the stars can be seen: staying here means you'll spend your night in a very peaceful environment.
Opposite the farm is a forest to go walking and next to the farm is a lake (which used to be a sea before the Dutch 'conquered the water'). There are great possibilities for biking and walking in the area.
for a one night stay there is an extra cleaning fee of 10 Euro
During cold periods some extra may be charged for energie.
Erik's house is just wonderful! it is very large and very comfortable, we felt as if we are at home. The house looks much better in reality than in the pictures, the listing is very accurate.
The village is quiet and beautiful and we enjoyed walking and riding the bikes around. The house comes with 3 bicycles for adults (+2 baby seats which we used) and 1 child's bicycle and that's a very nice bonus.
Erik, is a great host. We were welcomed with a cake and a bottle of wine and Erik was very responsive and provided us with everything we needed and always with a smile.
Erik also helped us planning our trip and gave us some great advise for tourists who are new to the place.
I hope to come back to house in the future for a longer period and recommend the house to anyone who wishes to enjoy The Netherlands country side. The house is great, book it with no worries!
We really enjoyed our stay in Erik's beautiful old farmhouse. It is well equipped with everything you need and was very clean. The beds were comfortable too. The local area is lovely with plenty to see and do. We particularly enjoyed De Hege Gerzen where you can swim in the Islemeer, relax and play.
Although Erik was away during our stay we still felt well looked after and very welcome, and he was in contact regularly.
Erik was very responsive and welcoming. The property was as described, if not better. It was quaint and away from busy city life, yet had all necessary amenities. He also had bicycles for us to use as we explored the lovely countryside. The kitchen was well equipped for preparing our own meals. Because of the age of the house, we enjoyed the feeling of stepping back in time to a bygone era.
Erik is a wonderful host who took interest in our lives and activities. He supplied us with a list of interesting places to see and a restaurant he recommended.
If we return to this area again, we would happily stay at this location.
Again we had a good time at Erik's place. The guesthouse really has a nice atmosphere. Everything was arranged very well at our arrival.
We enjoyed the space and the quiet around the house. Having breakfast under the tree in the garden is a very good beginning of the day.
Was will man mehr! Danke für den schönen Aufenthalt auch, wenn er viel zu kurz war. Heike
About the Host, Erik
Hi,I am Erik, I was a Kameraman at VPRO television now pre-retired.. Living in a big farm in the countryside. Together with my 15 year old son Zilker. We live in the backside of the farm in a new build part. The 'old " front site of the farm is the guest house. Stylish interior.
The next farm is some 300 meters further. The nights are very dark and silent ! With a clear sky, all the stars can be seen. Opposite is a forest for walking. The village is 1 km. Very peacefull environment, beautifull nature.
