Totally independent, La Terrasse is original, quiet, very romantic in its greenery. Near the Part Dieu (train station, shopping mall, best gastronomic market: Paul Bocuse) and 10 mn to Vieux Lyon.

“La Terrasse Suspendue” (The Hanging Terrace) is a cozy B&B that is actually an independent room. Its private balcony looks out over the inner courtyard of our apartment, with direct access to the building’s hallway. The room has its own private shower, sink, and enclosed toilet.A blind separates the toilet area from the rest of the room. To get to the terrace you will climb up a steep spiral staircase.
We are located in Lyon, near the Part-Dieu railway station, which is linked to the St Exupéry airport by tram. The bus stop located 50 meters away has direct buses that will take you to the heart of Presqu’île (Bellecour, Hôtel de Ville) and to the Renaissance neighborhood of Old Lyon in just 10 minutes. Near "The terrace" there are many restaurants, shops and supermarkets.
-The possibility of an enclosed garage for your car

We provide sheets, facecloths, and towels.
When guests arrive at Lyon by train or airplane, we usually wait them with our car at Part Dieu (railway station or tram terminus from airport).
The pictures in the ad give you a glimpse of what we can offer you for a communal dinner (“table d’hotes” in French). Our cuisine is appreciated for its originality and the quality of the products used (farm-fresh produce, organic products, etc). We can help you discover dishes from Lyon, or something else entirely.
We look forward to welcoming you as a guest at our B&B. We emphasize friendship, discovery, and learning about others.

I was welcomed by Jean François at the Lyon train station . He drove me to the room which is in the same building where he lives. He then explained me all the important details about the room and offered to drive me back to the train station, where I had an urgent business to do. The room was small but comfortable, and I slept well. All the facilities, bathroom, toilet and heating functioned well. The breakfast , served in the room, was good. Jean François was an extremely helpful host and answered every question about the things to do in Lyon. On the last day he was even more than helpful, because I was late to return to the room to pack before catching my train. I called him and he packed all my things in the room, met me at a bus stop and drove me safely in time to catch my train!
It was a great pleasure to stay with Jean Francois. At the end of a long trip his place was perfect. JF has set up the Terrace just for visitors. It is not an extra room that has just been adapted for guests. From tip to toe the room is designed for guests. He is serious about hospitality and that shows in every details.
Great communication, although english is limited. Very very clean.
Appreciated the drop off and p/u service from Lyon Part Dieu. Appreciated the helpful advice about local attractions. JF is a serious local-vore foodie (as are we) and had great info. They also provided day passes for the bus/tram/subway lines. Another hassle completely taken care of.
The Terrace is very very quiet. Even though JF and his wife are on site and available we had complete privacy, which we relished at the end of a long trip
Breakfast included in the room. Fantastic local baked goods and condiments customized to our specification. What a treat!
As always with airbnb you must know what you are getting into. JF's place is not for everyone. Who is it not for? The room itself is very small by North American standards. If you are extra big or if you require 200 sq feet just to spread out your luggage it is not for you.
Access to the Terrace is by very narrow cast iron circular stair-case that is in the courtyard and thus exposed to the elements. JF has set up a rope and pulley system to raise and lower luggage and breakfast. We stayed in winter and the stair way was wet and could be icy. If this freaks you out in any way, or if you think it might frak you out, the Terrace is not for you.
They had lots of suggestions for authentic Lyonaise Bouchons. Their final suggestion was the best - Bouchon Morgan 1/2 block from their place. Very very traditional and authentic and delicious. But, again, if you expect North american style service it is most definitely not for you. You eat what they serve, choices are very limited, if any.
We had the perfect stay and would love to return in the summer to really enjoy the beauty of the Terrace and Lyon.
Vive Jean francois et Monique. Vive Lyon! Vive le France!
Jean-François was friendly and helpful. He took me with the car at the train station, even though it is only 20 minutes walk. He has interesting stories about Lyon and good suggestions.
The room was clean and comfortable. It is small but cleverly furnished. It is ideal for a single person for a few days. It is situated in Lyon and close to Villeurbanne, which was ideal for me since I had to go to the University Campus La Doua.
Breakfast was great.
The Terrace was really charming. Too bad that we were in for the winter and couldnt enjoy the breakfast outside. JF is an excellent host. He picked us up from the train station and gave us dozen tips about what to do in Lyon. He also recommended us un bouchon which served super food at a reasonable price. The place is not close to the city center, however it's close to Part-Dieu, the biggest train stationin the city and Les Hally, the fresh food market where you could buy fresh bakery and food every morning except Mon for your meals. If you dont mind the walk to the old town, it gonna take you an hour of you can take the bus right outside the apt for 15m max. Thanks to JF, we tried different bakeries and pasteries for breakfast and they all were good. Would love to come back another time when it's warmer and really enjoy the terrace.
My stay Jean Francis's The Terrace was truly amazing! He is such a gentleman. He met me at the station and also returned me with my bags when I had to leave! I only had a short stay but so memorable, the breakfast he served everyday was indeed superb! Everything so neat and with home made organic jams! Thank you Jean Francis, we need more beautiful people like you in the world! Also the recommendation for the authentic Resturant 5minutes from the flat, I truly fell in love with Lyon! And the Terrace was the beginning of the romance!!
The terrace has by for been out best and most memorable air b n b experience. The welcome was warm and exceptionally thorough. We were asked about our interest by Jean Francois and he even raced us down to the "best market in Europe" just in time before closing so we could be personally guided through some of Lyons specialty dishes. In our first night Jean was kind enough to give us a cooking lesson which was not short of laughs or amazing food and wine. Be careful if Jean goes near the liquor cabinet after dinner too because there are some dangerous spirits in there. Not only is Jean Francois the perfect host his house is amazing an the independent room in which we stayed was charming! And Jean even bought us breakfast in bed in the morning! Jean, his house and his local knowledge are amazing. I'll go back to Lyon just for the breakfast and to stay at the terrace!!
What a fabulous little corner of paradise! Jean-Francois is a wonderful host who shared his knowledge about the history of the city and recommended local peculiarities not to be overlooked. Breakfast on the terrace was just lovely! I would come back in a heartbeat! Perhaps I will have the opportunity to return for a cooking lesson.
We had one night in Lyon before an early flight to the UK and this accommodation was perfect. Jean Francois was very pleasant and warm and helpful including recommending and booking a very good local restaurant. He also provided garage parking for our rental vehicle which was a huge help. The accommodation was clean, cosy and well appointed. Private - upstairs from Jean Francois. Wifi was good. The location is perfect for accessing public transport into the centre. Jean Francois was able to provide excellent local knowledge about what to see and do and help with tram tickets etc. We recommend this accommodation however we think one day is not enough to see beautiful Lyon!
the terrace is adorable (tiny for sure but cozy & pleasant) and you couldn't ask for a better host in Jean Francois! people like him make choosing airbnb over a traditional hotel so worth it! you get in touch with the culture you're visiting and make new friends! he invited us into his home, picked us up & dropped us off at the train station, made us breakfast, recommended restaurants, & showed us how to get around. We loved our time in Lyon and only wish we stayed longer! thank you Jean Francois! We hope to be back & stay with you again! :)
My boyfriend and I had an incredible stay in Lyon thanks to Jean François. He is a delightful host, incredibly kind and very attentive. He is full of tips about the city which were appreciated.
The room is simple, but very comfortable. The terrace is the perfect spot for breakfast or a glass of wine in the evening.
We fell in love with the place and could not recommend it more. And we would definitely come back.
