Totally independent, La Terrasse is original, quiet, very romantic in its greenery. Near the Part Dieu (train station, shopping mall, best gastronomic market: Paul Bocuse) and 10 mn to Vieux Lyon.

The space

“La Terrasse Suspendue” (The Hanging Terrace) is a cozy B&B that is actually an independent room. Its private balcony looks out over the inner courtyard of our apartment, with direct access to the building’s hallway. The room has its own private shower, sink, and enclosed toilet.A blind separates the toilet area from the rest of the room. To get to the terrace you will climb up a steep spiral staircase.

We are located in Lyon, near the Part-Dieu railway station, which is linked to the St Exupéry airport by tram. The bus stop located 50 meters away has direct buses that will take you to the heart of Presqu’île (Bellecour, Hôtel de Ville) and to the Renaissance neighborhood of Old Lyon in just 10 minutes. Near "The terrace" there are many restaurants, shops and supermarkets.

We offer:
-The possibility of an enclosed garage for your car
-Breakfast (included in the price) served in your room or on the balcony, depending on the season
-Bike loan

We provide sheets, facecloths, and towels.

When guests arrive at Lyon by train or airplane, we usually wait them with our car at Part Dieu (railway station or tram terminus from airport).

The pictures in the ad give you a glimpse of what we can offer you for a communal dinner (“table d’hotes” in French). Our cuisine is appreciated for its originality and the quality of the products used (farm-fresh produce, organic products, etc). We can help you discover dishes from Lyon, or something else entirely.

We look forward to welcoming you as a guest at our B&B. We emphasize friendship, discovery, and learning about others.

Our stay with Jean François was nothing short of amazing. Not only was he in contact with us before our trip, he went so far as to offer to pick us up from the train station AND give us breakfast since we arrived so early in the morning (way before his normal check-in time). We felt so pampered and accommodated :) He continued to offer us an absolutely lovely breakfast every morning of croissants, baguette, tea, coffee and even homemade jams! The room is exactly as shown, and while small, it was clean and comfortable. Jean François was also incredibly thorough with offering suggestions of things to do in Lyon, schedules and maps, as well as a list of his favorite restaurants to go to. On check-out day, he even dropped us back off at the train station (we also checked out late, which was most appreciated!). We recommend Jean François' apartment wholeheartedly and would not hesitate to stay with him again. Merci, Jean François!!! :)

Jean-François is a delightful host who cared for us in wonderful ways: he got us from and to the station, served a wonderful breakfast that far exceeded what we expected, helped us figure out what we could discover in Lyon in the time we had, provided tickets for transportation so that we did not have to figure out where to get them. The room is small but very well conceived and it met all our needs.

We feel so fortunate that we were able to stay with Jean Francois in Lyon for 3 nights. He is the best host we have ever stayed with - the city of Lyon should pay him to be an ambassador and Airbnb should use him in their advertising, and he has inspired us to try to become better hosts ourselves. He picked us up and dropped us off at the train station, gave us enthusiastic and accurate advice and tips about the city, had transit tickets ready, prepared great breakfasts and shared delicious cheeses and a cake he made with us. The room and terrace were adorable and close to the train, tram and bus. If you are a couple that is ok with staying up a spiral staircase on a comfortable pullout sofa and small bathroom then we highly recommend booking here. We wish we could have stayed longer and would love to come again.

I stayed with Jean Francois for only 1 night, but I wish it was more! He was so accommodating with my train schedule and my check-in/check out times. He picked me up from the train and dropped me back off. He had many maps of the city and bus tickets available for purchase to make transportation easy. He also mapped out the most scenic route for me to enjoy Lyon. Staying with him was a real treat, and he makes you feel like you are staying with a relative or close friend. In the morning he set up a fabulous french breakfast for me with homemade jams and fresh fruit. He really takes pride in his Airbnb rental and it shows. The apartment is newly renovated with all modern and clean appliances. I would recommend him 100% to anyone traveling to Lyon.

We cannot recommend Jean François enough!! He was incredibly kind and personable--gave us lots of recommendations for things to do and places to see in town, had bus tickets ready for us, taught us to make a dessert, etc. He and Monica have a beautiful place and a real gift for making people feel at home. We had a very rejuvenating stay and would highly recommend this place! Staying here is Lyon was one of the highlights of our recent trip to France!

Jean Francois is the model Airbnb host! He is extremely professional, kind, and methodical what it comes to taking care of his guests. I arrived in a rental car, so the garage at this property was very handy. He came out to the busy street the moment I arrived, jumped in the car, guided me to the garage. After, arriving in the room was a bit magical. Jean Francois has converted what was once the concierge quarters of an old building into a loft space. He's installed all types of ingenious mechanisms to make the space work: a pulley to raise heavy luggage, an electric toilet, a generous water heater, etc. Internet was VERY strong and TV was clear, had many channels. After introducing me to all these things, Jean Francois kindly showed me a map of Lyon and pointed out many places of interest, which was perfect because I didn't have a guidebook. He also prepared discounted bus tickets that are .40 euro less than you'd need to pay at the station. I didn't use them because I preferred to use Lyon's public bike system. But it was very thoughtful of him to prepare them! Breakfast every day was a treat. Francois is a very responsible environmentalist and foodie. All was biodynamic or organic where possible. And only in-season fruits are served! I would highly recommend this location to any single person or intimate couple. Jean Francois is an absolute gem of a person.

Jean François met us at the train station and welcomed us to his home. While small, the room is clean and works well for a couple. The bed is more of a futon, but very comfortable. Unfortunately it rained most of our stay so we were unable to fully enjoy the beautiful balcony. It's worth noting that while the listing shows a photo of a kitchen - it seemed to be off limits to us. He did have a mini fridge available to us for our use, and brought us wine glasses, plates and cutlery when he discovered we were drinking wine out of plastic cups! Breakfast was delicious each morning with homemade jams and croissants. Neighborhood is definitely off the beaten path, but close to public transportation and the Paul Bocuse Market. He had many suggestions for things to do and places to visit. His english was very good as well. Great visit to a nice city.
