We would like to share our favourite spots in Copenhagen so you will have a nice and unusual-suspect-vacation. Therefore we have prepared a list with practical information about the city and our favourite areas together with our selection of the best places to go for lunch, dinner, a drink, shopping or walking and a selection of the best museum- and exhibition places.

Guest access

You will find everything you need in the flat: sheets, duvets and pillows with linen, towels, hairdryer and all kitchen utensils. And part of the wardrobe is empty for you to keep your clothes.

There is also access to the courtyard with a playground for the kids.

The neighborhood

The area:
Frederiksberg is the green heart of Copenhagen – and is characterized by it’s charming streets, old town houses and high ceiling apartments – The Frederiksberg Allé (Avenue) being the “aorta” of the area.

The apartment is located on Schlegels Allé – a small and quiet street – between the two “big” streets Frederiksberg Allé and Vesterbrogade.
Frederiksberg is surrounded by the lovely versatile Copenhagen areas called Nørrebro (known for its multicultural) and the city center (known for historic buildings, museums, the harbour and shopping).

In the area Vesterbro, located right next to the apartment, you will find the trendy and edgy part of Copenhagen with lots of pulse, cultural life, design shops, cool cafés, bars and restaurants and great playgrounds.

Supermarkets, kiosks with fresh fruit and bread and bakery is just around the corner. Pharmacy, variety of supermarket, kiosk with international press and post office in the nearby area.

In the other direction of the apartment – moving north and further into Frederiksberg – you will find lovely green parks – Frederiksberg Have (Garden) being the city’s largest with a pond for rowing, a summer café and playground. Every Saturday 9-15 o’clock (april-october) there is a flea marked on the parking lot behind Frederiksberg City Hall. In front of the City Hall there is a organic food stand every Saturday from 10-17 o’clock.

Getting around

Copenhagen is the bicycle capital of Europe and therefore the bicycle is the primary transportation form. Hence bike rental and city bikes for hire is easily accessible throughout the City. – It’s also possible renting the popular cargo/family bikes.

Baisikeli – located on Ingerslevgade 80, Vesterbro (2,7 km from the apartment)

Copenhagen Bicycles – located on Nyhavn 44, Copenhagen City (5,2 km from the apartment)

The City Bike (Bycyklen) – hour-to-hour bike rental – bike stations several places. The nearest two ”docks” are located at the entrance to the Frederiksberg Garden (5 min walk) and at the Frederiksberg City Hall (10 min walk)

Copenhagen has a small but efficient Metro system.

Copenhagen has a very efficient bus system – although there is a lot of redirections in the bus schedule due to the metro building system. – The local busses from and to the apartment are: 6A, 18 and 26

There are also tourist busses giving city tours through the center – located by Rådhuspladsen (The City Hall)

DFDS canaltours – leaves from Gl. Strand and Nyhavn

“Nettobådene” - city boats joining the separated areas of Copenhagen – leaves from
Nyhavn and Holmens Kirke (church)

The harbour busses/Movia – leaves/has 6 stops: Det Kgl. Bibliotek/Den Sorte Diamant (The Royal Library) – Knippelsbro – Nyhavn – Holmen Syd – Holmen Nord – Nordre Todbod

Marie and Hans were wonderful hosts. The pictures of their home and their description was extremely accurate. They left behind very helpful information and made us feel very welcome in their home and in Copenhagen. They left little personal touches like a happy birthday sign for my sister, which was a lovely surprise. Their home was clean and tidy and very comfortable. The area was great, very accessible by bus and subway, with little restaurants, a bigger shopping mall, and a few grocery stores. It also felt very safe. My family and I really enjoyed our time in this apartment and really appreciate all the effort that Marie and Hans put into their home and welcoming us. They were very responsive - they checked on us a few times during our stay and were very accommodating for our check in and check out times. They responded to questions within hours. We didn't get to meet them personally, but they were super helpful and made us feel like they were available at any time. I would definitely recommend their apartment again and would stay here again if we come back to Copenhagen. Thank you Marie and Hans!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay in Hans and Marie's apartment and would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone looking to visit Copenhagen. My wife and I travelled to Copenhagen with our 15 month old daughter in June 2016. Marie was extremely helpful and very responsive before we arrived answering questions and giving tips. The apartment itself is everything we wanted from an AirBnB apartment: stylish, comfortable, well-stocked (for example, with cooking equipment etc). An added bonus in our case was that Marie and Hans also have small children and they were happy for our daughter to play with the toys in the apartment, use their children's utensils etc. The location of the apartment is also excellent - quiet, green, local amenities (e.g. supermarkets and restaurants) and a short walk (10/15 mins) into the city centre. Hans and Marie also very kindly left a bottle of wine for us and a cuddly toy for our daughter, which were very much appreciated. Thank you so much! In short, we loved our time in the apartment and would certainly book with Hans and Marie again if (and when) we return to Copenhagen.

Hans and Marie were fantastic to communicate with - quick to respond and very friendly! We didn't have the pleasure of meeting them in person but they arranged a smooth handover of the keys and very thorough information sheets for us (the pizza place around the corner was a saviour on our first night!). The apartment is exactly as it appears in the photos and is in a lovely neighbourhood with a supermarket within walking distance. It was a great place to stay with kids - lots of toys to play with and a courtyard with sandpit, bikes and swings. Be sure to communicate your requirements for bedding if you are travelling with small children - it appears the baby cot is convertible (3 sides, 4 sides, toddler bed), so I'm sure Hans and Marie will be able to accommodate most requirements. For anyone with mobility issues, please note the apartment is up about 5 flights of stairs. Not a problem for us as it gave us a chance to burn off some of those delicious Danish pastries.

We loved everything about the apartment! The interior, location, toys, bikes, ... It's just perfect for a family with young kids. Close to the zoo and a big park, in a quiet street but very close to some nice areas. The city center is just a 15 minute bike ride away and you can get to the beach by car in 20 minutes too. In the backyard there is a big shared playground with lots of things to play with. Hans and Marie were very helpful and even provided us with a list of this to see, do, where to eat, shop, ... We would love to come back and stay a bit longer.

We had a lovely stay in Hans and Marie's flat. We spent 10 days in Denmark, 7 of them we spent at the flat. What attracted me to their flat was that it was family friendly. Our kids happened to be the same age as theirs so it was a perfect fit. But, this flat would also be perfect for two couples. Unlike American homes there is not baby stuff everywhere!

We are a little family of four - Hans, Marie, 4-year old Ingrid and baby-Rosa - who loves to tour around in the old towns of Europe. We let the curiosity take us to small streets, backyards, parks, fleamarkets, urban and creative spaces. We like to dwell at restaurants as well as bring food home to cook our selfs.

Hans is a Strategic Planner at an advertising agency and Marie is a curator and art konsultant. Together we have our beautiful daughters Ingrid and Rosa, who we love to bring on our travels around the world. – Art, design, architecture, music, food, wine and vintage hunting has a big place in our life – also when we travel around.

We are very happy about the airbnb-solution renting private homes – especially the personal atmosphere and being able to cook on your own – a bonus when travelling with children. We are very care taking and respectful about the places we visit and appreciate the same when people visit and stay at our apartment.

We like to share nice recommendations about our lovely city with the people who are visiting us! We speak English, German, Scandinavian and a bit of French and Italian.
