The space
Where the apartment is:
Guests' space is 350 square feet built onto the back of our home. It is on ground level and has its own private entrance. Away from the street, it offers a peaceful setting and a backyard view where wildlife can often be seen.

What the apartment features:
*Full-sized refrigerator, dishwasher, and electric range allow you to easily cook and clean up meals, if you would rather not eat out.
*Cupboards are stocked with pans, utensils, dinnerware, and glasses.
*A variety of spices is provided.
*A microwave, toaster, and Keurig coffee maker, with assorted K-cups are available for guest use.
*Purified water is kept in a container in the refrigerator. No need for disposable plastic bottles.
*A large armoire offers clothes-hanging space, shelves, and drawers.
*Light-blocking window shades let you darken the room if you need to sleep during the day.
*An ironing board and iron make it easy for you to remove the travel marks from your clothing.
*Wi-Fi and cable service are provided.
*Sleeping options include a queen-sized bed and twin-sized futon.
*The full bath has a tub, handmade bar soap, and hair dryer.
*Oak hardwood floors are heated in cold weather (approx. November-April).
*During the months of May-October, the apartment is heated or cooled with a mini-split air conditioner/heater. It is quiet and does not take up window space.
*No need to worry about finding a place for your vehicle. We have plenty of off-street parking.
*Coded keypad entry provides access regardless of what time you arrive. A lighted, concrete sidewalk leads from the parking area to the apartment door.

Our commitment to clean:

From the beginning of our Airbnb experience, we have valued giving our guests a clean place to stay. Our reviews attest to that fact. We mop, launder, and scrub throughout the apartment. Since the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have added to our standard procedures. Between guests, we do the following extras.
*Run an air purifier.
*Launder all pillows (the bed pillows and the throw pillows on the futon).
*Disinfect the mattress
*Scrub and disinfect other soft surfaces (futon, chair seats and backs, foot stool).

Other things to note:

We DO NOT get Verizon cell phone service here. Although it is available nearby, our home is in a dead spot. This is not generally a problem since most phones can connect via wi-fi which is available in the apartment. BUT we want prospective guests to know about this.

We advertise our space as "Smoke free" so that we can accommodate guests with allergies to or other issues with cigarette smoke. Therefore, we do not allow smoking in the apartment or on the rest of the property. Smokers, then, need to find other places to smoke if they stay here. This is an inconvenience even in good weather. In inclement weather, it can be a problem. Those who smoke would probably be happier in a space that does not have smoking restrictions.

We provide light snacks.

We do not offer breakfast fare, but you will find snack granola bars, crackers, and other snack items.

Where you’ll be

Meadville, Pennsylvania, United States

Meadville is home to Allegheny College and to a unique road-sign display created by the college's art students. The signs depict aspects of this area. Hot air balloons represent the annual Thurston Classic. A Ferris wheel speaks of the large Crawford County Fair, and a replica of the Market House highlights one of the buildings of the historic downtown. Built in 1886, the Academy Theater is a venue for live theater and offers various productions throughout the year.
Coffee shops, such as "Julian's" and a restaurant named the "Pennsylvania Sandwich Company," which boasts a celebrity chef, are also a part of our fair town.
The Meadville area offers several places for hiking, biking, and fishing. Conneaut Lake, a resort town built on Conneaut Lake is less than a 30-minute drive and is a great spot for boating and water skiing.
Linesville, another nearby town, offers the spillway where young and old alike can feed the fish--the very large, extremely abundant carp. A "bread house" nearby sells inexpensive bags of bread just for the fish.
Those wishing to venture a bit further may enjoy visiting Titusville, the birthplace of the oil industry, and Pithole, the place oil was first discovered.
Meadville and the surrounding area offer something for everyone.

After teaching English and speech (public speaking) for many years, I retired from teaching to pursue writing. I've self-published three novels and am currently under contract to write a work of non-fiction about a World War II plant that produced TNT right here in the Meadville area. I have a wonderful husband and two terrific adult children. Unfortunately, our kids and our best-ever grandchildren live far from us, so we don't get to see them as often as we'd like. My hobbies include cooking, baking, herb gardening, sewing, and scrapbooking. I've been able to use many of these in the apartment that we now have listed on AirBnb.
