About this listing
A 110 year old wooden house with a lot of charm. It's speaks to you as it contracts and a expands when it's hot and then cold. But don't worry, it's not haunted ... much ;)
This newly renovated apartment has an open floor plan and is very spacious and bright with two bedrooms (One furnished with a queen-size bed; the other with a full/double) and a complete bathroom.
The apartment comes with a fully equipped kitchen, 38" flat screen, high-speed wifi, and cable TV.
There is a washer/dryer located in the apartment as well as access to a large laundry area on the ground floor.
Outside there is a large patio for you to barbecue and lounge on and FREE downtown parking.
Each guest is provided with one towel, one pillow, one duvet and sheet.
We would love if you left the apartment in the same state you received it please ;)
Our apartment is in downtown Reykjavik, a short walk to anything you could need. One block from Laugavegur, the main street, (just outside the "noisy" area) with transportation, restaurants, shops, museums, cafes, and bars - all within a few minutes! Hallgrimskírkja and Sundhöll (the oldest swimming pool, built in 1935) are all within walking distance.
Hlemmur, Reykjavik's main bus terminal and taxi hub, is just a 3-minute walk away.
If you are traveling with little ones, let us know if you will be needing "little people things" (toys, highchair, bedding).
VERY FRIENDLY AND HOSPITABLE OWNERS - SO PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO ASK FOR ANYTHING! [You may have seen us on House Hunters International ;) ]
Look forward to seeing you in Iceland....
If in the UNLIKLY event we are not there to great you, there is a lock box positioned by a white door underneath the concrete steps leading up to the entrance in the back. Just get the keys, go up the concrete steps, open the door and it´s the top floor.
Interaction with Guests
If anything comes up, do not hesitate to contact us. We will come to your aide.
Safe. It is Iceland after all. There is some partying going on during the weekends but the house is about a block away from that scene. There are many tourists around and many interesting things within walking distance.
On foot is the best way as most things are within 10 min. walk. There is though a main bus terminal about 3 min. walk away and those buses can take you anywhere.
We would ask you to keep the apartment tidy and use it like it's your home away from home. Please walk carefully in the corridor during night time, because the house is a 110-year-old wooden timber-house with floor boards that sometimes creak. Icelandic customs are to not to play loud, disturbing music after 10-11 ish pm.
From Sep 1 - Nov 30, 2015 the minimum stay is 2 nights.
