The Space

This newly renovated apartment has an open floor plan and is very spacious and bright with two bedrooms (One furnished with a queen-size bed; the other with a full/double) and a complete bathroom.

The apartment comes with a fully equipped kitchen, 42" flat screen, high-speed wifi, and cable TV.

There is a washer/dryer located in the apartment as well as access to a large laundry area on the ground floor.

Outside there is a large patio for you to barbecue and lounge on and FREE downtown parking.

Each guest is provided with one towel, one pillow, one duvet and sheet.

We would love if you left the apartment in the same state you received it please ;)

Our apartment is in downtown Reykjavik, a short walk to anything you could need. One block from Laugavegur, the main street, (just outside the "noisy" area) with transportation, restaurants, shops, museums, cafes, and bars - all within a few minutes! Hallgrimskírkja and Sundhöll (the oldest swimming pool, built in 1935) are all within walking distance.

Hlemmur, Reykjavik's main bus terminal and taxi hub, is just a 3-minute walk away.

If you are traveling with little ones, let us know if you will be needing "little people things" (toys, highchair, bedding).

Look forward to seeing you in Iceland....

  • Valur and Edythe are the most wonderful hosts! Communication was great, because they are so kind and friendly. They met us though it was very late. Valur gave us some good advices concerning the most useful and interesting places in Reykjavik. We really felt ourselves at home. The apartment is clean, cozy and comfortable. You can find everything you need. As for location it is perfect. We had not any problems and just enjoyed our rest. We recommend you this apartment! It will be the right choice!

  • Our cozy apartment in Reykjavik was the perfect stay for our overseas adventure. Unfotunately, we didn't get to meet the little ones or Edythe, but Valur was there to greet us with a smile and some Icelandic dry humor.
The apartment itself had everything one might need for their stay, including a washer/dryer combo in the bathroom. Be warned though! It took us awhile to figure out how to use it.
It's perfect for four people. My husband and I went with another couple that are friends of ours and we were all immediately smitten. The location is excellent. We were only a street away from all the shops and restaurants, all within walking distance. And only a few blocks away was one of the main bus terminals. The public transit there was easy to use and the bus drivers are friendly and willing to help (quite unlike here in Chicago).

Highlights: The public geo-thermal pool, Reykjavik Roasters, and Sandholt bakery :)

  • We stayed in Valur and Edythe's apartment for two nights and had a great time! The apartment is adorable and in a great location! Easy to walk downtown and to the harbor. Valur and Edythe were great hosts and gave us lots of recommendations for our short stay. I would definitely recommend them for a stay in Reykjavik!

  • We arrived quite early into Reykjavik and Valur and his mother worked hard to prepare the apartment for us. Valur spent quite a bit of time with us orienting us to the details of the apartment as well as giving us a number of helpful tips about Reykjavik.
Edythe had also prepared a very complete guide that came in handy. The apartment was warm and bright. Pleasant views, well equipped.
The location couldn't have been better, one block away from the main street.
Edythe was very responsive during the time prior to our arrival.
As an aside, Reykjavik is a very interesting destination.

  • Just back from a fantastic stay. The hosts were brilliant both before and during our stay, very helpful and the guide they had produced was perfect. The apartment had everything we could ask for and it was in a great location after our nights out. Stay here and enjoy.

  • We really liked our stay in Valur and Edyth's place. It is very centrally located and the free parking behind the house is very convennient. The apartment was big enough for the four of us (2 adults and 2 teens) and well equiped. Valur was very helpful and the information pack was very helpful too. All in all we would come back if we want to visit Reykjavik again.

  • This really is a lovely apartment in downtown Reykjavik. Edythe and Valur provided lots of valuable information about restaurants and sights, as well as sending us the opening times for supermarkets and swimming pools during Easter - much appreciated! The location is within walking distance of everything and yet quiet at night. We would highly recommend staying here.

  • The apartment is wonderful! It is as beautiful as it looks on the pictures, and it has the perfect location. We really, really enjoyed staying there and felt totally at home.
An extra bonus was the apartment guide with a lot of useful information on opening times, restaurants, etc, and we really appreciated that Valur took the time to mark locations for us on a map when he showed us around the apartment.
We would love to come back and wholeheartedly recommend staying at this apartment.

  • I had an absolutely wonderful time at valur and edythe's place! Their apartment truly feels like a home and has everything you might need for a comfortable stay. It is cosy but uncluttered, which gives it great energy. I got warmly welcomed by valur, who gave me a quick tour and told me where to grocery shop and get the best pizza in town. Also, you receive a great list of good cafés, restaurants and things to do, which is most useful. Last but not least, Reykjavik's main street is just around the corner, and you'll find loads of places to eat out there. I had a wonderful stay and very warmly recommend valur's and edythe's home!

A very easy going family, we love the good things in life. Valur is in advertising, Edythe is currently a nursing student at the University of Iceland and works part-time in the Department of Neurology. Ari loves trains and Spiderman, and Baby Haukur loves music and cars. Very outgoing, always smiling and adventurous. Our goals are: 1) To save up enough money to buy a house with a huge backyard for the boys, and 2) Travel and learn about different cultures and people as much as we can. We love being Airbnb hosts because of the connection we've made with many of our guests from all over the world. We love introducing people to our beautiful yet small country and giving visitors insight on what places to visit during their stay.
