Interaction with Guests

I work weekdays, and I'm often away part of the evening/weekend so you may have the place to yourself much of the time.

The Neighborhood

My neighborhood is quiet and safe. It's very enjoyable to stroll around, a short walk takes you to great restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, bars, and our seasonal Sunday farmer’s market. Grocery stores are nearby including a large full-service Asian market with deli; Fred Meyer, Whole Foods, and Trader Joe’s are a short drive away. Mount Tabor Park is great for running and hiking, and has fantastic views of the city. Montavilla Park has a playground, huge play fields, and a pool in the summer.

Getting around

15 minute drive to the airport or downtown, or about 35 minutes on our excellent public transportation system. Buses run from a few blocks away every 10-30 minutes, and it's a short connection to light rail (MAX).

Other Things to Note

I’m a Pacific Northwest native and I’ll happily give you advice/research on any local attractions or interests, sightseeing, restaurants (including Portland's 600+ food carts), hiking, rock climbing, skiing, and trips to the coast or mountains.

  • I can vouch for the title "Mother Approved" - literally. I connected with David on Airbnb and had my mom and step-father stay for a five-day, first time visit to Portland. They were delighted with the amount of access to amenities, relaxed atmosphere, and privacy that came with the location. Oh, and the hot tub was a huge hit! As a local, I can say that David has excellent taste and makes great recommendations. (I even got a killer granola recipe out of the deal. ) Stark Street in the Montavilla neighborhood, one of my favorite hang outs, is just a few blocks away and provides a variety of dining options. Another perk: David is lightening fast to reply. Any questions or concerns were answered almost immediately and he was extremely organized about every detail. I read several of David's rave reviews and can say that they are all true. My folks were in excellent hands!

  • We hade a great time at David's house. Beds were comfortable, kitchen easy to use and we loved the hot tub. David was away when we (email hidden) but he gave us a front door code and it was super easy.

  • David was a friendly easygoing host with a lot of information to share about the city and the neighborhood. His house was clean and the beds were comfortable. The location is only a few blocks away from Mt. Tabor Park, a gem in Portlands park system.

  • David (email hidden)! Incredibly warm and inviting and welcoming to his beautiful home. We truly appreciated the morning espresso and access to the hot tub. We really like the neighborhood as well, it felt very safe. The whole house was very clean and neat, and I would definitely recommend staying here. I hope to be back soon!

  • David (email hidden), very flexible with my changing arrival plans and responded very quickly to my booking. His home is comfortable and clean and he was a friendly and helpful host. The location is close to shops and restaurants and a short drive to central Portland. For me, the biggest plus was the comfy memory foam mattress in the double guest room as I have a hard time sleeping in hotels on spring mattresses. Bathroom was clean and comfortable and the hot tub was great. David's place has everything you need and nothing you don't, my definition of a great stay!

  • David's place was a home away from home. It was clean and friendly. David was an awesome host and so great with our children. He made us feel so welcome that our kids begged to go back again someday. Thank you David for your warm welcome, sharing your beautiful home, all the great suggestions, the cozy beds, the fluffy towels and fantastic shower. We would recommend this place to anyone traveling to Portland and will certainly call again next time we plan to be in the city.

  • Dave is a gracious and accommodating host. He went out of his way to make us feel comfortable in his home. We appreciated his insights on the Portland area and especially the restaurants. The house is clean the beds are super comfy!

  • David was a very amicable host and sharing of his space, willing to go above and beyond so that you have a comfortable stay. Plus the hot tub is pretty awesome!

  • My wife and I spent two nights at David's house. He made us feel very welcome and provided lots of recommendations of things to check out in the area, from hiking Mt. Tabor to eating at an amazing Lebanese restaurant called "Ya Hala". His house is clean and quiet, and the skylights add a nice touch. The bed was super comfortable, the coffee was terrific, the hot tub was great, and we even got to do a load of laundry there. We felt very at home in his place. Two thumbs up!

  • We had a quite an experience meeting David! It was our first Airbnb experience and my fiancé and I totally messed up the dates and showed up at David's home a week early!!!! To make the long story short, I was so impressed with David's reaction and how he handled us basically "breaking into his home" (he has a code system in his home, so we let ourselves in, because he was suppose to be away 'that', aka next, weekend). David turned out to be an amazing human being, with a great sense of humor and a warm heart!

David's place was great and very comfortable and we LOVED the hot tub! I would definitely recommend staying with David, as we would love to stay with him again, ourselves! :)
