My home is located in housing development within walking distance of the village of Hilltown and the impressive Mourne Mountains, County Down, Northern Ireland.
It has eight public houses on the main street, a legacy from 18th century smugglers who shared out their contraband here. The village has a livestock market on alternate Saturdays, the Boley sheep fair and festival is on 2nd weekend of July and a large sale of rams in September. There is good fishing in the River Bann. There are convenience stores in Hilltown as well as a restaurant, post office, ATM
I have 2 double rooms, both with double beds, 1 off the rooms can also accommodate a double air bed. A modern home owned by a young busy professional. You will have access to your own lounge, shower and toilet, spacious garden, parking (please use the space at the side off the house & not the front), wi-fi access and continental breakfast will be on offer. Clean bedding & towels are provided but please not I do not iron so expect them to be a little creased!
Perfect access to Mourne Mountains. Ideal location for hikers or those looking to enjoy a countryside getaway.
Recently an international standard Mountain Biking centre has opened up in nearby Rostrevor.
American Western style horse riding tours of the mountains adjacent to Hilltown.
Free Gym sessions in Local Gym (3 miles)
Our local area is Newry and Mourne, a quick search should provide you with lots of useful information and events.
Interaction with Guests
I offer as much interaction (or non) as guests would like
Situated in the heart of the Mourne Mountains - fabulous walks & views - visit the site where a scene from Game of Thrones was shot
Public transport is accessible from the village. A bus and train station within 9 miles in the nearest city of Newry, popular for shopping. The seaside town of Newcastle is a short bus journey away where hikers would trek the Slieve Donard Mountain, the highest in N.Ireland.
Other Things to Note
I have 2 friendly dogs which are kept outside and a cat which has access to the house.
When parking pleas use space provided to side off the house & not the front
I expect guests to treat my home as they would their own, relax & feel at ease.
Friendly, perfect, without any problems. So nice and warm! Anytime again!
Although we weren't able to spend much time with El due to the timing. El was gracious and assisted with our travels in the area. I fully enjoyed playing with her dogs every day..Her home is very comfortable and accessible to buses to Belfast.
We had a very nice stay at els house. A very nice nighberhood.
El made us feel as in home, she was very kind and helped us with the things to visit. She has been the best host you can have, very close and attentive. I loved the house, everything was very clean and the house is awesome, it is a loving neighbourhood. El was very careful with all details in the rooms. We had a great stay there, it was a shame to stay just a day.
