In this lovely one-room cabin sorrounded by the forest and its wafting essential oils, one need only breath to wake the sleeping self ..the more relaxed, sensitive, respectful self who aludes in stress of the city. Whether lounging in our swinging knit chair or lollying about in the hammock on the screened-in veranda, ones sensibilities are enhanced and awareness increased. A place of simplicity and silence ...for a more-than-reasonable price. We ask guests to clean their chalet before leaving.

The space
Little country cabin in the woods in a preservation area in Brazil's Southern Coastal Rain Forest. Charming, easy, fun and secluded. Studio setting with kitchen, sleeping and dining areas all in one space. The wc and wash basin are the only two separate spaces. Great place for a meditative retreat and volunteering. After booking, ask about our volunteer program and what you can do to help us preserve this planetary treasure. What will you bring to the plate when you visit?

Guest access
The cabin is a simple structure made of wood and handpainted inside which provides a warm decorative finish, which echos and enhances the rural atmosphere outside.

The bed has a sturdy mattress protected by a removable, washable matress protector.

We do not provide, sheets, pillow cases, blankets, bath towels. wash cloths or kitchen towels as our location in a preservação área does not permit on site industrial laundry services. Sending out laundry, until now, is too costly a proposition. We try to maintain our rental prices as low as possible for the benefit of our tenants.

Food and personal hygiene items should be purchased before arrival, as running back and forth into town (about 17 km away) can get expensive and tedious.

There is an outdoor tank for hand-washing clothes and a clothes line provided for drying.

We also provide a outdoor grill or "barbie" upon request, but you must bring your own charcoal.

There is an additional table on the veranda for shady morning coffee and sunset diners.

The cabin is all yours for the rental period. The other housing facilities on the property are private and should be treated as neighborhood dwellings where residents' privacy and comfort should be respected at all times.

Bungalow guests have easy access to the forest trails, the reservoir and the local dirt roads, which lead to:
1)Morro do Canal (Channel Hill) for “easy to medium difficulty” climbs and treks and snack bar with lovely fried locally-raised or reservoir fish;
2) Araçaí Indian Reservation for cultural contact with a newly formed community of the Guaraní nation (about 16 years old) in the process of adaptation to it’s new location and the difficulties inherent in the mixing of prior members from numerous communities in varying degrees of decline;
3)Carvalho (Oak Tree), which is a region managed by the state water company and generally closed to the public. It is opened to the pubic two weekends a month. Besides more trails and beautiful views of the mountain range barrier between our location and the coast, there are old rock pools and holding tanks, which have supplied drinking water to the city of Curitiba for over a hundred years.

Boaters and fishermen/women should bring their own canoes, kayaks, inflatable boats, oars, pump equipment, fishing gear, bait and life vests. Only non-motorized boating is allowed on the reservoir called Piraquara II.

As the reservoir is not supported by life guard staff, swimming is not permitted.

All reservoir activities are unsupervised and ones decision to navigate, fish or swim in its waters is ones sole responsibility.

When you request a reservation period for this property, you are confirming your acceptance of total responsibility for any and all activities in which you choose to involve yourself and your fellow occupants (whether friends, spouses, relatives or acquaintances) during your rental period AND, you all relinquish any rights to legal process or litigation against the owner, employees and other residents except through the conciliatory process provided by AIRBNB.

Other things to note
This property is in a preservation area and no plant, animal or mineral specimens can be legally taken off the property.

People interested in contributing to the knowledge base of the local communities are welcome to come and try to get involved in this kind of activity.

You will be able to explore miles of forested land, part of the remaining southern coastal forest complex call Mata Atlântica. This area has more species of flora and fauna than the Amazon and because of it's proximity to the coast, it has been constantly impacted by the country's endless coastal population increases.

I am from Fort Lauderdale, FL, but live in Curitiba, Brazil, for the last 29 years protecting a large piece of Rain Forest land and using profits from my rental units (soon to include one in the forest) to finance my preservation efforts. People who book my apartments in the city of Curitiba will also be able to book days in the rain forest at my farm. We don't raise any animals there but, rather, watch nature do her thing. There are trails and even a small Indian village just outside the gates. I travel to the USA every two months to take care of my father who has Alzheimer's and lives in a nursing home in southern Florida. So, my "vacations", of late are all dedicated to his health and comfort. When I do travel, it is mostly to see friends in Idaho and London or family in the Keys or in Tampa. When I stay in someone's place, I like to leave it better than I found it. If nothing needs fixing, I usually make a drawing or a painting and leave it behind. I love hanging out with friends and throwing conversation away ( a Brazilian expression), making food, sipping tea, going on short excursions and long walks. I can´t live without friends, family, the forest and nature in general, my son and his family and my partner (not necessarily in that order... ha!) I love theater, the symphony, modern ballet, dance, performers of all kinds. I like the movies and would rather eat in than to go out to restaurants. As a host, I like to surprise my guests beyond quality and cleanliness. I love to turn them on to local realities, expressions and customs that may surprise and excite their senses and help them choose to travel and learn more. For me traveling or living outside of ones home land should be a requirement. It is the most efficient and maybe the only way people can really understand and appreciate another culture. I call it 'living outside the box'. Traveling and living (even for short times) outside ones homeland enriches the soul's experience and weaves the thread of understanding into the clothe of togetherness. Oh, yes! I like writing, Yoga, Tai Chi, poetry and painting. Some of the artwork in my apartments is mine. My life´s motto today goes something like this: "Keep cheery and keep breathing, there must be an answer inside here somewhere".

During your stay
There is a caretaker on hand during the week until Saturday noon.

There is another property exactly in front of this property on the other side of the road where emergency information can be obtained if the caretaker or myself are not present.

You can always communicate with myself or the caretaker by phone or WhatsApp.

There are G3 cellular phone signals on the property which allow for moderately reliable internet access as well as phone service (depending on your telephone provider). TIM is the only reliable telephone and internet provider in our area.

As the property is one of the last properties on the electric lines, electric service can go out for small periods of time. Wind is our greatest enemy where electric lines are involved.

If lights go out, patience is in order.
