The lodge is located near a small ex-forestry village, which has a community hall and pub, play park, star gazing shelter, riverside picnic site, football field and designated nature walks. The hall, run solely by volunteers from the village, provides a Sunday breakfast for £5, and Fish and Chips every other Friday for £5.50. The pub is open Thursday-Sunday, 8pm-11.30pm.
In the next village there are several restaurants, a post office and a small shop.
We are within driving distance of the famous Kielder Observatory and castle and the extremely beautiful market town of Hexham.
We are also close to many historical sites, like castles such as Alnwick (where much of Harry Potter was filmed) and Bamburgh , Vindolanda, Corbridge Roman town, a bird of pray centre, Kielder water, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, the Scottish Boarders, Carlisle and the Holy Island.
