We recommend a car for visits to any location on the Big Island. There is much to see and do, but everything is very spread out and the island has minimal public transportation.
It was just amazing!
When we arrived, Michael showed us everything in the house, but also the activities to do arround, the restaurants and wathever was usefull. Then he gave us a welcome drink and several macadamia nuts he grows himself.
The rooms are amazing as well, king size bed, real good taste for the decoration. There are showers Inside the house but we prefered the outside ones with tropical flowers everywhere. At night we went in the Jacuzzi which clearly a plus.
For the breakfast, it was probably the best we have ever had in any hotel. Fresh island grown fruits, homemade coffee, homemade pancakes or omelett, homemade troical jams, french toast (pain perdu for the french speakers...)... So so good...
The spot is really well placed with a breathtaking view on the ocean and near the "I don't remember the name" beach (but Michael will tell you) where we swam with dolphins threes days in a row.
Nothing was missing, it was really the best place we have ever stayed with my wife! It was our last hotel in Hawaii and it really gave a sweeter taste to the end of our honeymoon... Thank you for everything!
What a wonderful way to start our time on the Big Island.... it doesn't get any better than Ka awa Plantation! The hospitality is exceptional, nothing is to much trouble, and yet if you want your own space - that is available in abundance. Will not think twice about staying here if we visit the Big Island again - Mahalo to all!
The location of the house is awesome. You'll have a great view of the bay of Captain Cook. The kitchen is perfectly equipped and leaves enough room for every guest. The terrace is the highlight. You can enjoy your breakfast (which is just awesome including mangos, papayas, dragon fruits, pineapples, pancakes, eggs and so on) and the view. You'll have a jacuzzi with the same view.
The room was clean, big, welcoming with a big closet. We had a bathroom across the hall but we were the only ones using it. Every third day they clean the room. Greg and Michael provide you with beach towels, information about the best restaurants, hints for the best beaches. You can ask them everything. We were also allowed coming back after check out for a quick shower and collect our luggage.
As I said: Go there!
Ka'awa Loa Plantation is an amazing place. The ambience, quality of food and friendliness off the staff made me want to stay much longer than we had planned. WE could not ask for more comfortable accommodations. Michael, Greg and Hannah are wonderful hosts. They treat their house like a work of art.
I could not recommend Ka'awa Loa Plantation more highly.
WOW. Even though we only stayed for one night, this place was definitely a highlight of our trip. We really loved Michael's mango juice, macadamia nuts, and fresh coffee with a delicious breakfast. Also, the view is incredible and the outdoor showers were great.
Wonderful guesthouse with beautiful grounds, elegant decor, and expansive views from the porch. Welcoming and helpful hosts. Best breakfast and coffee we had on the island.
