This is a 2 floor apartment in a house with garden on a desired street of Brooklyn. We have 2 cats who will be going through the apartment to access the garden. They are very friendly, will stop by during their excursions and might take an occasional nap, but you won't have to take care of them or feed them.
The living room on the ground floor, has a large dining table and an open kitchen with a bar. The simple blue bathroom comes with a tub. The three bedrooms are located on the second floor: two spacious real rooms with each a double bed, they are separated by a large walking closet and double pocket doors, plus a small room with a single bed. They are very quiet and relaxing, with warm wall colors, high ceiling and fan.
In the kitchen, you’ll find everything to make you feel like a chef, professional tools, knifes and a large sink. Condiments and spices are available. When the weather is nice, the garden becomes our dining room, a perfect place to have refreshing diners with candles.
If you would like to stay, please write me a message first. I love hearing about you and engage in a conversation before you book the house.
There is WIFI and air conditioning. For guests who stay a longer period (over a week) our cleaner will be coming weekly. Her fee is $100 per week, paid directly to her, at your charge and not includes in the airbnb price. Not only she does wonders, she also brings a lovely energy to the place. You'll love having her around.
We like our guests to arrive in a nice and quiet home and relax after they travel. They'll find the key in the mailbox to enter on their own, and a few snacks will be waiting for them.
We live in an apartment upstairs most of the time and will be near by in case the guests want to meet us. Sometimes we don't even see each other at all, and other times we end up having diners together and become friendly. My best memories are with the kids we have met, they often play with the cats and love going through the all house freely. One time I took a visiting family for a stroll to show them my favorite hidden spots in Brooklyn and went to the navy yard saw an old sail boat.
Park Slope is a perfect place for families. We are graciously located between many nature spots, the ocean and the city intense activity.
Prospect Park near by is full of things to do year around, from enjoying picnics while listening to summer concerts to ice skating or sledding in the winter. The Botanical Garden with its abundant fragrances is one of my favorite place to relax in Spring. And during the hot summer days, I love biking or taking the subway to the Far Rockaway beaches to plunge in the sea weaves.
I love how much food we can find around here, from the celebrity chefs restaurants to the local vendors cooking delicious specialties in their trucks. Seventh and Fifth avenues offer so many great restaurants and shops that you don't feel the need to go to Manhattan anymore.
We are also so lucky to have many great choice for grocery shopping with the Whole Food market on Third avenue and the week end farmer markets. You'll have the opportunity to taste delicious organic vegetable from the best local farmers and really fresh fish from the Long Islands fishermen.
And if you like coffee like I do, there are many high quality cafes with great personalities owners who will give you a real sense of the neighborhood. 2 of my favorite are Deluxe on Seventh Avenue and 13th street with Andy and Tina who will welcome you with warmth. And the famous cafe Martin on Fifth Avenue and 4th street, a local character I love very much.
Every night you can hear great (email hidden) Barbès on 9th street and 6th avenue, an authentic local and cultural place.
We are in between 2 subway stations, 16th street and 9th street on the F line. I prefer getting off on 9th street and 7th avenue because while the walk might me a little longer, I can shop or stop by at the nice Deluxe cafe.
It takes about 20 minutes to go to Broadway Lafayette downtown Manhattan and 45 minutes to go to Central Park.
The only thing we want you to be aware is not to let our cats to go out of the front door. They are not used to the street and we don't want them to get into any trouble. Thank you.

We had a fabulous time at Valerie and Oscars gorgeous house. We stayed for three weeks with our three young children and were welcomed warmly and looked after at every turn.
The house is very well located near two subway stops, restaurants, shops and of course lovely Prospect Park.
We had everything we needed for our stay - the kitchen is great - well stocked.
Used the backyard for evening dinners with the children and the cats! The cats were great and good company for the kids.
Valerie was very responsive and helpful to any request we had to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. She recommended a lot of local services and made it easy to integrate into the Park Slope way of life!
This was our first go at Airbnb and it was truly a fantastic experience! We stayed for a month with our two young daughters and had the most tremendous time in Valerie and Oscars house which we were fortunate to call our home away from home.
Valerie and Oscar are the most perfect hosts; welcoming, warm, generous, considerate and gracious. They went out of their way to make us feel at home and we feel very lucky to have gotten to know them.
The house is cosy, homey, clean and well equipped. We thoroughly enjoyed cooking in the great chef's kitchen and slept well in the comfortable beds. The sunny garden is just beautiful and we spent several evenings outside sipping wine and listening to the birds.
The house is situated perfectly on a side street from 7th avenue and is close to the Subway, shops, restaurants and Prospect park, all of which are important for a family with children. We also appreciated how quiet the street was.
Our children are not used to cats but Diego and Rosita became their favourites very quickly and we really liked having them around.
We feel very fortunate to have stayed in this house and hope to do so again!
This was our first Airbnb experience - and it was fantastic! Valerie & Oscar (and their two cats) were wonderful, welcoming hosts. The apartment was clean, stylishly appointed, comfortable and spacious. It provided all the amenities of home - basically home away from home.
The apartment was very nicely located off 7th avenue (a plus for us). The description and photos provided on the Airbnb listing perfectly reflected the actual space.
Valerie & Oscar were super attentive, flexible and gracious. I would highly recommend the apartment; and hope to be able to use it again myself.
Our stay at Valeries house has been fabulous. We lived in the house for 5 weeks and the friendly spirit of the house and the warmth of Valerie and Oscar made us feel at home and wellcome.
During the stay we had the pleasure of hearing Oscar playing jazz at a small local club. It was fantastic. Also we were able to see some of Valeries amazing art and graphic work. They are both very interesting art performers.
We stayed there with our two 8 year old twin boys and they loved it. Especially did they enjoy the company of the two cats Diego and Rosita.
Valerie was during the entire stay very helpfull in any way.
The house is cosy and full of creativity and personality. It was easy to have an everyday life there with great kitchen facilities and areas for relaxation.
We will defintitely return to New York again some day and will not hesitate to choose this place again:-)
I have only good things to say about our experience staying in this house. Valerie and Oscar are charming and helpful hosts - even providing a few snacks for our arrival, which was a thoughtful touch. They have also put (email hidden), with tips about the house and neighbourhood, including their favourite bars, cafes and restaurants.
My husband and I stayed with our two young children for a week, and found the house to be spacious and comfortable. We loved the decor, with splashes of vibrant colour, and being surrounded by Valerie's art and books, and Oscar's impressive vinyl collection. The kitchen has everything one could possibly need for cooking up a storm, and we were very happy to help with Valerie's composting. With two active children, we also appreciated the backyard, not to mention the clothes-drying space! I was initially a little nervous about the cats, especially as my children are not used to pets. However, Diego and Rosita are as sweet and friendly as any cats could be, and it was lovely to have them around.
The house is in a quiet and leafy street, but conveniently located near shops and subway stations. Prospect Park is within comfortable walking distance (even for children), and is a wonderful spot for taking a break from the intense energy of NYC. Between my husband's morning run and my children playing in the playgrounds, we spent a lot of time in Prospect Park!
Park Slope itself is a lovely neighbourhood. The residential streets are lined with historic brownstones, while the avenues have plenty of great, yet unpretentious, local shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. We were lucky enough to attend a couple of block parties, and found there to be a real sense of community in the area. If you want to see the sights of Manhattan, it only takes around 20 minutes on the F train. It's partly above ground, and offers a great view of the Kentile Floors sign!
On the whole, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely home. Our only regret is that we didn't get to see Oscar play live jazz at Barbes!
Now we are back since a few days and I am not a great review writer - but I just want to say that the house, the neigborhood and Diego and Rosita are fanfastic! We really enjoyed every evening coming back from our excursions to such a charming & lovely place! Unfortunately we didn't meet Valerie and Oscar - but because of Diego - we had a couple of phone calls - and Oscar & Valerie were extremely helpful and nice - we all wished we would have met them. If we would come back for a NY holiday we would love to stay in the house again! Thank you for everything! Renate, Robert, Luke & Greta
We love staying in this beautiful home. After our second visit, it's gladly beginning to feel like a second home. We love the art, textures, light and style of this apartment. Hanging out with the cats is also a real pleasure. They are so fun to return home to and very attentive and playful. We love the location, the quiet and the space. We look forward to returning soon.Valerie is a responsive and accommodating host. This has been our favorite experience from airbnb.
Where to start...?
This is a really special place to stay - a real home. You feel it the moment you step through the front door. It is even nicer than you can tell from the photos. It is bursting with beautiful artwork and character in every corner; amazing and eclectic furniture; and little signs everywhere that this is a home that has been put together not only with supreme taste, but with a lot of love. You find little surprises round every corner - my favourite is the discreet 'I LOVE YOU' carved neatly into a bit of wall.
It's a very practical place too. Oscar is a super keen cook, so the kitchen is fit for a pro. The back garden is an oasis of calm, not that you need too much calm given the great location - 2 blocks from Prospect Park. And inside is spacious - and a very flexible space too. Everything works just like you expect it would - fast internet, air conditioning, filtered water. You'll live like a king.
The cats are lovely - two of the friendliest felines you'll ever meet, each with their own distinctive characters. It's a pleasure looking after them; they even tolerated with considerable restraint the provocation of my naughty 1-year-old boy!
And then there's your hosts. Oscar and Valerie are just great people. They went out of their way to make us feel at home, giving us loads of great advice, hints and tips, and making the whole thing a pleasure.
We stayed here for 6 weeks when we arrived to live in New York - I think it says everything about our experience that we have moved into our new, permanent home just a block away. I'll be recommending Windsor Place to b who wants to come and visit us (and who doesn't want to sleep on my floor!).
We loved living here! We stay in Brooklyn frequently and this was by far our favorite spot. The apartment is quiet, spacious, visually stunning with artwork, color and panache. We adored the cats. The front bedroom upstairs is fabulous and the location couldn't have been better for us. The notebook with instructions for tenants was thorough, clear and concise. It was a pleasure to share in the exciting home of 2 clearly talented and creative people and 2 loving and spunky cats.
