About this listing
Two level apartment with three bedrooms and a garden on a desired street in Brooklyn. The spacious living room connects to a large dining table and a well equipped open kitchen with a breakfast bar. Located close to subways, Prospect Park and shops.
The ground floor opens to a comfortable living space with a large dinning table, a well equipped kitchen and a breakfast bar. You'll also have access to a working piano, and a great music collection, plenty of CD's and LP's to listen to. In the kitchen, you'll find everything to make you feel like a chef, professional tools, knifes and a large sink. Condiments and spices are available.
The garden in the back of the house accessible through the kitchen has an outdoor dinning table for six people protected by a large umbrella. When the weather is nice, the garden becomes our dining room, a perfect place to have refreshing diners with candles. A simple bathroom comes with a tub and original tiles.
The bedrooms are located on the second floor on what is called the "parlor floor" with its high ceiling and parquet. Two spacious rooms offer two double queen size beds separated by a large walking closet that opens with double sliding doors, when opened the rooms become connected. It can be a nice option for a family with small children who need to feel the presence of their parents close. Next a cosy room with a single bed is perfect for an older kid or an adult. These rooms are very quiet and relaxing, painted with their warm colors and cooling fans.
Our lovely cat Rosita will be going through the apartment to access the garden. She is very friendly, will stop by during their excursions and might take an occasional nap. Usually you won't have to take care of her or feed her, unless we are away, but in this case we'll ask you first.
If you would like to stay, please write me a message first. I love hearing about you and engage in a conversation before you book the house.
The apartment is private and accessible by a single door located under the stoops.
The rental price includes 2 cleanings, before your arrival and after your departure. For guests staying a longer period (over 14 nights) our cleaners will be coming biweekly.
There is WIFI, dish washer and air conditioning. We don't have access to TV channels, but you can plug your computer or devices to a TV screen to watch online movies. We have cables and can help you setting it up if you like.
Your laundry can be dropped at a reliable and clean laundromat near by. During the warm days there is an umbrella in the garden for drying clothes. I love the fragrance clothes get when dried in nature.
Interaction with Guests
We understand that when our guests arrive from their travel they want to find a quiet and relaxing place. We usually leave the key in the mailbox and invite them to enter on their own. We also prepare a few snacks and drinks in case they arrive late at night.
My husband and I live in an apartment upstairs and are near by most of the time. We'll be happy to meet you after a good night of sleep.
Depending on the circumstances, there are times we won't be coming downstairs at all, and other times when we'll end up having diners together and get to know each other.
What I really love is when kids run through the all house playing with the cats, visiting us upstairs, laughing and being happy. I also have wonderful memories enjoying diners with our guests, always curious about each others lifestyle and cooking. Sometimes we manage to go out together, sharing my favorite places of Brooklyn, going to hear local concerts or visiting neighborhoods that are not in the touristic guides.
The press says that Park Slope is one of the most livable neighborhood in New York, this is true, we feel very lucky and love living here.
Prospect Park near by is full of things to do year around, from enjoying picnics while listening to summer concerts to ice skating or sledding in the winter. The Botanical Garden with its abundant fragrances is one of my favorite place to relax in Spring. And during the hot summer days, I love biking or taking the subway to the Far Rockaway beaches to plunge in the sea weaves.
I love how much food we can find around here, from the celebrity chefs restaurants to the local vendors cooking delicious specialties in their trucks. Seventh and Fifth avenues offer so many great restaurants and shops that you don't feel the need to go to Manhattan anymore for high quality food.
We are also so lucky to have many great choice for grocery shopping with the Whole Food market on Third avenue and the week end farmer markets. You'll have the opportunity to taste delicious organic vegetable from the best local farmers and really fresh fish from the Long Islands fishermen.
And if you like coffee like I do, there are many high quality cafes with great personalities owners who will give you a real sense of the neighborhood while you'll be drinking your favorite coffee.
Every night you can hear great music at the bar Barbès on 9th street and 6th avenue, an authentic local and cultural place.
We are in between 2 subway stations, 16th street and 9th street on the F line. I prefer getting off on 9th street and 7th avenue because while the walk might me a little longer, I can shop or stop by at nice cafes.
It takes about 20 minutes to go to Broadway Lafayette downtown Manhattan and 45 minutes to go to Central Park.
Other Things to Note
The only thing we want you to be careful is not to let our cat out through the front door. She is not used to the street, we don't want her to get into trouble. Thank you for keeping an eye on her.
Please make sure that nobody in your group suffers from cat allergy. Our cat Rosita lives in the all house and go through the rooms to access the garden. She is very friendly and loves people.
Please no smoking inside the house. Smoking is permitted outside in the front and back. There are ashtrays provided in the garden.
Please do not bring pets inside the house. Our cat is not used to other animals, she won't be happy if dogs come into the house, will hide and get upset.
We understand that objects can brake, it happens. Please let us know when something needs to be replaced.
