Kestrel Treehouse is a unique and romantic escape, a stone’s throw away from the National Park. It is minutes away from the beach and shops. Enjoy a relaxing gin and tonic in the oak swings while you enjoy the river view. The house has a Victorian bathtub and an outside shower. Watch a romantic movie on the pull down projector screen in the comfort of your king size bed. The kitchen is fully equipped with a Smeg fridge. Sip a freshly brewed cup of coffee on the deck or around the cozy fire pit.
The space
The treehouse has a large fully equipped kitchen with a washer/dryer. The bedroom is open plan with a free standing bath, a basin and an open closet. There is a separate WC. The balcony has a seating area, as well as a small table for two. The outside shower is located in the corner. There are a couple of branches growing through the shower so you need to bend a bit underneath them in order to access the shower area. You can have a lovely view of the river while showering.
Guest access
Guests have full access to the treehouse as well as the river in front.
Other things to note
If your electricity is above Rs500 for the duration of your stay then electricity will be charged at Rs10 per Kw.
At times there are a great many frogs in the river. Their croaking can be clearly heard. White noise like the air conditioner will be needed to block out the noise.
You will need to duck under two branches to enter the shower.
There is a fire pit located next to the river. A couple of comfortable camping chairs are provided.
Two swings made from red wine oak barrels hang underneath the treehouse.
Barbecues can be conducted next to the river. The treehouse is made of wood and there are lots of trees so great care must be taken to put out any flames.

The treehouse is located on the National Park Road. Our house is located on the plot next door. The entrance to the National Park is 700m away. It is a great place to go for a walk, run or cycle. You can rent a bicycle from OnTrack.mu which is located at Riverview Centre which is at the beginning of the National Park Road. Riverview also has a pilates studio, an exercise studio and a yoga studio. There is an excellent restaurant called Frenchie Cafe. La Balise Marina is close to the start of the National Park Road. We are a 5 minute drive to the closest beach but we really recommend going slightly further afield to Le Morne.

I am a teacher and a busy mom to three children. I live about 5 minutes away from the house with the sea view and on the plot next door to Kestrel Treehouse. I have happily lived in Mauritius for the past 19 years and am able to recommend plenty of activities for both adults and children. I speak English and Afrikaans fluently and my French isn't bad either. My husband speaks fluent French, English and Creole. We look forward to meeting many people from around the world.
