For travel to places outside of Puntarenas (ie, Jaco, Manuel Antonio, etc) there's a main bus station. Buses are usually on time and sometimes even leave early.
Some Info about Puntarenas:
Puntarenas (Pointsands, from "punta arenas", or "sand point" in Spanish) is the capital and largest city in the province Puntarenas.
Puntarenas is generally hotter than the Costa Rican Central Valley, with daytime highs ranging from 30°C to 35°C in the coldest/hottest months, respectively.
We are looking forward to hosting you and we hope you enjoy the house and the city!!

Michael and Manuel made us feel very welcomed. They were there to help us, I feel like more than the average place. They were so helpful with tips and ideas for trips.
We felt very comfortable. We got there a bit early for check-in but they let us store our stuff and even let us use a room to change into our beach clothes. The location is close to the ferry stop (to the Peninsula Nicoya). The bus station to San Jose was probably a couple miles away, walkable with no big bags, or a fairly inexpensive taxi ride away. I think it is one big road called paseo de los turistas. I view it as one tip is the Ferry area and the other tip is the Bus station. The hotel is closer to the ferry.
Our room was #4. It was across the street from the beach. It is not enclosed with the other rooms in the pool/patio area (which is an amazing shaded and sunny area with rocking chairs and tables). We loved our room and that we had a view to the beach and access from the main street. The only down side for us working people (translator and 2 professors) was the wi-fi did not reach this room, but it just forced us to go to the pool/patio area and work with a beach view and maybe dive in the pool here and there :-) It was a semi-work trip so online time was a must. But who can complain about an open office with a beach view!
There was hot water. There was a kichenette and a small fridge. We had AC and a ceiling fan. They gave us nice towels, made sure toilet paper, shampoo and soap were stocked. I forgot the lady's name who helped keep the room tidy, but she was sweet as can be, too.
Great people and place. Few blocks from some yummy food, too. Hope to visit Costa Rica again and share this place with other friends and family.
Muchísimas gracias por su amabilidad, paciencia y hospitalidad.
Nice place just across from the ocean. We only stayed for 1 night as we needed a stopover on our way to Monteverde, but our stay was comfortable and good. Michael was very helpful in accommodating a very late check-in and helped us with parking in the private garage.
Das Studio war in Ordnung für eine Nacht. Schade ist, dass das Studio gerade an der Strasse ist. man kann jedoch in den Innenhof laufen, dort hat es einen schönen Pool und Stühle sowie Tische.
Michael was nice and very helpful with determining where to eat. We only stayed one night as Puntarenas was just a town that we were passing through.
Many thanks to Michael, the place is amazing, we enjoyed our stay in the apartment, the apart is clean, we found everything we needed, the kitchen is full. We will show all the photos & Video to our friends, we will speak about Puntarenas, about the wonderful beach, the swimming pool, we really liked every min we spend there, If we plan to visit Costa Rica in the future, we will be back for sure. PURA VIDA
