I stayed here for over two months and every aspect of my stay was perfect. I've been coming to NYC every summer for the past few years and this apartment was the most beautiful, the least cluttered and felt the most like a home away from home. I was so sad when I had to leave! Karene was a most gracious host, helpful but not intrusive. And gorgeous to boot! Stay here, don't give it a second thought. (But know that summers are MINE, till the end of time. Haha)
So Karene met us at the apartment and it was similar to what we expected. In this case, the old adage of location, location, location is highly relevant.
Location#1 - There are great restaurants, shops, bars, music, the Hudson and more all with a few blocks - you are in the West Village where New York never sleeps!
Location #2 - the police station is next door so sirens. The restaurant across the street is great but they throw their trash out at 1AM pretty much every night and it is picked up between 5-6AM every day. The windows are old so all noise comes though - earplugs are a must as music was not enough.
Location#3 - inside of the apartment - needs to be updated. While it is comfortable in size for 2 on a temporary basis and Karene has outfitted it with necessities, the inside needs to be redone - which Karene advised would be coming soon.
We had a great time and loved having Buvette, Cowgirl, Tartine and the Jazz clubs all a short walk away.
Karene is a great hostess. She made us feel very welcome in her lovely appartment in the middle of West Village, gave us excellent tips and was very responsive to any questions. Her appartment is just perfect and we felt immediately at home. It was so much more than we could have hoped for. Karene, thank you so much!
From arrival to departure our stay at Karene's place was perfect, the keys were waiting for us exactly where she said they would be and the apartment is exactly as pictured and described. The West Village location is amazing and we spent the week pretending to be real New Yorkers :) Communication with the host via e-mail was friendly and we had no need to contact Karene as she had already provided all of the information we needed.
Karene's apartment looks exactly like the pictures. It was very clean, quiet and convenient, next to many restaurants and bars and a block away from a subway station. Karene was very responsive and helpful. We enjoyed a lot our stay and would definitely recommend her place to anyone who would like to explore the city!
The flat was perfectly situated just a few yards from Bleecker Street and very close to the subway. It was comfortable, well equipped and very clean. The only drawback was sound insulation, street sounds could sometimes be a bit disturbing. The general impression of the flat was quite good and we would gladly return. Our host was very nice, hospitable and helpful and really made us feel welcome.
My stay here was fantastic! The apartment was beautiful, it had everything needed for a short/long stay and it was in a great location. Karene is so lovely and was always really responsive when I had any questions at all.
I'd highly recommend a stay here, I will definitely be going back! :)
