Check In: You can check in anytime during the afternoon, but I do work during the day and usually have people leaving the same day you arrive. So during the week my cleaning lady gets there around 12 noon but her schedule can change depending upon her availability.
Check Out: 12 Noon. If you wish to stay longer let me know so I can check with the next guests to see what time they plan on arriving at.
I often ask people if they know in advance when they plan on checking in and out. This is helpful b/c I get special requests from guests if they can have flexibility on the timing and this is only possible if I know when the previous/next guests expect to arrive or depart. So if you are flying in/out at a certain time, then letting me know in advance is very helpful for planning.
Note: My location is not ideal for the bus line. If you wish to use a bus while you are visiting San Diego, I recommend looking for another place to rent from.
I have my own bedroom, office and bath on second floor and I am at work during the day so you have pretty much the run of the rest of the house with all the privacy you want. Also, I am very happy to offer advice when needed on where to go and what to see in San Diego to make your stay a vacation you'll love to remember. I look forward to meeting you!
This is a no smoking, no pets house.
I installed an electronic keypad on the front door. Before your arrival I will email you the four digit code (usually the last four digits of your phone number). You can use your code to get in the house whenever you like and not worry about using a key.
It is a tri-level house. The main floor is the common area with a gourmet kitchen and kitchen table. Downstairs is your bedroom, bathroom, family room and game room with a pool table. Both of these floors are open to you. Upstairs is my bedroom and my office. This area is private. You are free to use the entire house except for the upstairs where I stay.
Brian is a superb host with excellent communication leading up to checkin. The neighborhood and lodging are precisely as described.. safe suburban neighborhood… Clean cotton sheets, comfy bed… Jumbo spa and spacious rec room. I also appreciated the fresh flowers, self-service coffee, and helpful travel tips on local dining and attractions.
Brian was awesome from the beginning of me making the reservation. He answered every question that I asked and made the stay as stress free as possible. The whole house and neighborhood for that matter was beautiful and quiet. He was sure to leave us information for any and everything that he thought that we could use while on the stay. I would love to stay at his residence in the future on trips back and suggest it to others on their trip to San Diego.
Beware: pictures are not representative of actual accommodations. The patio does not have patio furniture as featured in the picture. When we inquired about it we were offered some plastic folding chairs. The picture of the "spa" shows lots of bubbling water but in reality the spa does not work only waterfall feature and lap pool jet. The owner was well aware of it telling us two buttons didn't work. The buttons that didn't work control the jacuzzi jets. These amenities were the main reason we chose this property. There were plenty of others we were interested in, some in more desirable locations, some less expensive. The pictures of the bathroom shows a recent update and while the sink and tile are nice, when we arrived there was only a plastic liner, no shower curtain as shown. Also lacking very basic amenities such as a bath mat, kleenex, a glass or disposable cups, sufficient hand towels. The owner mentioned a few times about renting to partying college crowds and it definitely had a college dorm feel. Bedroom picture also does not represent what was actually there. Bottom line : the property does not live up to the pictures and descriptions given. The owner then offered some sort of refund and then did not follow thru.
Having an unhappy guest is a first for me (check my 133 reviews) and I take it very seriously. I called Airbnb customer service for their opinion since I represent them. They reviewed the case and said you should not be given a refund. They also commented that I'm one of the top Airbnb hosts in San Diego.
Patti, you were here for four days and the first 2 days I was home you were happy with everything and told me you loved my home. The following two days I was traveling. Although you had my cell phone and email to contact me with any questions during your stay, you never did.
To clarify your concerns, the patio furniture became unstable from steady use and is in the process of being replaced for the safety of my guests. The spa is in perfect working order if you push the right buttons. The bathroom had $8,000 of remodeling with floor to ceiling tile and new fixtures. I'm sorry that you ran out of kleenex. In addition, the Airbnb floor had $17,000 of remodeling done. I soundproofed the walls and added new furniture and solid wood door for 100% privacy of my guests. If this is not up to your standards, perhaps you should have chosen a high priced hotel.
Again, I'm very sorry that you think you had a bad experience. I have met some lovely people over the past 3 years and had some amazing experiences. Unfortunately for both of us, this was not one of them. I wish you better satisfaction on your future travels.
Brian's place was perfect for three guests. It was very comfortable and access in-and-out and communication with Brian was very easy. Located a short, $12 ride dowtown San Diego and La Jolla. Thanks Brian!
My friend and I stayed for the night and made good use of the private floor at Brian's place. The bedroom was very clean and cozy, which also offered lots of closet space. We also enjoyed the living room which is equipped with a tv (Netflix and Hulu were installed). I was delighted to find a massage chair, made good use of that as well :) There is also a game room, which has a pool table. Also saw the jacuzzi in the backyard, which we didn't use as it was raining. This was my first airbnb experience and Brian made it a great one. Thanks for having us!
This is an awesome place and easy to get in as brian set up everything to run smooth. Totally private airbnb with everything that was advertised. The spa was nice to use and heated up quickly. The location is good central to a lot of places you would want to go in the city. I would stay again. Also very reasonable price.
Brian was great host! Super accommodating when our schedule didn't go according to plan. Also, very friendly and helpful!
I moved to San Diego in 1999 because I loved the sunshine and exercising outdoors. There are so many wonderful things to do here that it's hard to pick a favorite.
When I first moved here, I immediately got scuba certified and learned how to windsurf. But it wasn't long before I discovered the amazing beach volleyball games they have on the weekends. That's where you could find me every Sunday! But I later got hooked on learning to sail and then on boot camps and now I love training for triathlons. So much to do here!
I'm new to AirBNB and I'm really excited to meet new people visiting San Diego and hoping to help them find out about all the great things to do in this amazing city!
