"Il Loft" (The Loft) is a fully restored airy loft in historic art nouveau building available for single person or couple.

The apartment is located in Ortigia, a UNESCO heritage site and the historic center of Siracusa, and is steps away from breathtaking seaviews on all sides and the Aretusa Fountain as well as many other cultural attractions.
Apartment features brand new kitchen and bathroom, seperate dining and living areas, and king size bed in sleeping loft.
HOW TO REACH THE APARTMENT
If you are coming by airplane (destination airport : Catania), the best way is to use a bus from Catania Airport to the railway station of Siracusa (last stop), and then a taxi from the railway station to the apartment (10 minutes). The recommended bus company is INTERBUS, but you can also have a look at AST website in case the time table is not matching your needs.
If you are coming by train, the best way is to take a taxi from the train station, it will take around 10 minutes.
If you are coming by car, please be informed that Ortigia is a ZTL (Zone Traffic Limited), and that you cannot enter by car during the following days/time slots : Monday to Friday, from 8 PM to 2 AM (next day); Saturday and pre-holiday, from 4 PM to 2 AM (next day); Sunday and holiday, from 11 AM to 2 AM (next day).
WHERE TO PARK
If you can enter into Ortigia island (see CAR section above) it is possible to park the car in the streets around the building, but not in the yellow lines. If you cannot enter it is possible to either park the car for free out of the island (immediately before the bridge) and walk in, or use one of the 3 available toll parking (1 immediately before the bridge, 2 immediately after) which are all at walking distance from the apartment.

Interaction with Guests
I will be always at your disposal during your stay but, since I am not living in the city, our contacts will be via phone, chat or e-mail. On the other hand my father will be always present in person to welcome you, to assist you in case of need, and of course to receive the keys back and check the apartment during your check out.
For a fluid communication I will be your reference for any need, and it will be up to me to be in contact with my father to take care of you.
CHECK-IN : Please communicate in advance your arrival time in order to allow us to properly welcome you. One hour before reaching the apartment please also send a text message to the number you received at the moment of your reservation in order to confirm your arrival time.
Please present your IDs or Passports at the check-in in order to allow us to register your data.
CHECK-OUT : Please communicate in advance your leaving time in order to arrange an appointment to return the keys and check the status of the apartment.
APARTMENT SECURITY : Please keep the window on the street (white wood and transparent glass) ALWAYS CLOSED when you are out; the external grating is only to provide a minimum protection when you are in and would like to leave the window open.
INTERIOR CLIMATE : To maintain a comfortable atmosphere inside the apartment, the dehumidifier below the window is always on, and it is not necessary to empty the water box since a pump does it automatically. If you find it too noisy and would like to switch it off during the night, please set the dehumidifier at the level “0”, and please do not forget to switch it on again in the morning by setting it at the level “Normal”.
During SUMMER time we recommend keeping the window next to the bed closed during the day to avoid any exchange of the air inside with the hot air outside, and open during the night if the temperature goes down. Even with all the windows closed, the dehumidifier will keep the apartment cool and fresh because of the thick walls.
During WINTER time please use the heater with care in order to avoid useless gas consumption.
BATHROOM : Please do not throw toilet paper or anything else into the toilet bowl, just use the proper box.
Please always switch on the fan when taking a shower, and switch it off when finished.
GARBAGE : Please do not leave the garbage inside the apartment, during your stay or when leaving. There are some green boxes close to the entrance of “Des Etrangers Hotel & SPA”; please use them after 6:30 PM.
MISCELLANEOUS : Please keep your personal belongings inside the apartment (not outside the door nor on the windowsill), and please do not introduce and connect any large electrical appliances (for example, portable air-conditioning).

After having lived for awhile in the apartments you see listed on AirBnB, I left my own town to move for professional reasons first to Bologna, then to Lyon, and finally to Brussels where I live since December 2014.
Travelling so much has helped me see the importance of staying in a place that feels like home or at least with a "personal" touch, which I found lacking in many of the hotels I stayed in during my own travels.
Having shared the philosophy of AirBnB since I first discovered it, my goal is to try to create for my guests the experience I would like for myself when travelling.
As I live abroad, I manage all the communication with guests while my family takes care of welcoming them and ensuring their needs are met during their stay.
