  • This apartment is wonderful, at the same time very cosy, beautiful and fonctional. It is very well situated in the heart of Ortigia. We were very nicely welcomed.
It is an excellent place to stay !

  • Cesare is a considerate host who made a concerted effort to keep us informed and assist where he could.
His dad received us at the flat as arranged, settled us in and even presented us a bag of fresh fruit and fresh flowers from the farm.
The flat was tastefully decorated, perfect size for a couple and extremely close to restaurants and bars as well as the main sights on Ortigia.

Thanks again for making our stay in Syracuse so memorable - certainly hope to be back soon!

  • I and my husband stayed at Cesare's apartment total 8 nights from end of 2013. We were both very happy to be able to start new year at such a wonderful apartment. Nicely decorated, super clean, well-heated room provided us first class comfort. Dehumidifier also made a big difference and kept the room very comfortable in this humid country. I mainly cooked at home and enjoyed full meal as kitchen was very well equipped. Cesare is very attentive and checked me in a couple of times to make sure we were OK and his father came to see us to fix very tiny problem soon after I notified it to Cesare. They are so kind and considerate to their guests. I'm very appreciated for their efforts to provide such a wonderful space for us, and of course highly recommend this perfect place!

  • We booked this because of the other reviews here and we were glad we did :) We had a wonderful stay in Cesare's apartment. It's beautifully restored, really comfortable and has everything you could need, including a really comfortable leather couch. To make matters even better, it's perfectly located too.

Cesare was the perfect host, checking in by text to make sure we were ok. His charming Dad picked us up from the bus and his equally charming brother said a cheerful hello whenever we bumped into him around town. Lovely family, lovely (and spotless!) apartment, and a lovely place to relax and unwind for a few days.

We had some really good meals out in Ortigia, but one of our favourite things to do was to go to the market in the morning, pick up some bread at the bakery (Via Roma at Piazza Minerva) and have a wonderful lunch at "home", with the shutters and windows thrown open and the jazz tinkling in from the bar across the street - heaven!

  • A beautiful, spotless flat, right in the centre of this breath taking island.

  • Renovated studio in beautiful historic Art Nouveau building - a classy and atmospheric way to experience Syracusa. The location in Ortigia is perfect. While Cesare is currently working outside Italy, he is extremely attentive to the needs of his guests, and responded to my questions quickly, sympathetically, and helpfully. You will undoubtedly meet his very charming and interesting family, who also live the building. I should add the couch was perhaps the most comfortable in any accommodation I can remember. Would I stay here again? Absolutely.

  • What a lovely apartment in a perfect location!! The apartment has everything one could possibly need - even stove top espresso maker and espresso supplied! We arrived after a long trip and this, along with the beauty and comfort of the flat, was a delight. The decor is beautiful, lighting perfect, tall windows opening to the street provided lovely breeze and sunshine and sounds of the street to flow into the space. An earlier review mentioned a jazz club across the street and although at times we heard music it was never a disturbance. The walk-in closet allowed plenty of space for us to unpack and feel at home. The bathroom was lovely with nice counter space and great water pressure in the shower. The washing machine was a very helpful addition - though we relied on the outdoor patio in the upstairs apartment (which our other family members were renting) to dry items...(I didn't notice if the washer in our loft was also a dryer). The location is just around the corner from the Arethusa Fountain and a delightful short walk from the Duomo, espresso, pastries, amazing restaurants and the local swimming rocks. My husband and I are already looking forward to coming back!

  • Enjoy the apartment, it has everything that would make anyone stay comfortable. Location in the middle of old town, was convenient, yet it is quiet at night. Did not meet Cesare, but his father and father made us feel at home.
Great space for two person, it would be better if there was iPod docking sound system. A better absorbing towels would give it 5 *
Our only criticism, and it is a personal one. Coming from Australia, we are not that used to people walking pass the front window. The apartment was on the ground floor, during the day, because outside is a pedestrian street, we occasional feel like people are looking into the apartment, but generally, no one is really.
We had a great stay, we could come back another time.

About
After having lived for awhile in the apartments you see listed on AirBnB, I left my own town to move for professional reasons first to Bologna and then to Lyon, where I have been living since 2010. Travelling so much has helped me see the importance of staying in a place that feels like home or at least with a "personal" touch, which I found lacking in many of the hotels I stayed in during my own travels. Having shared the philosophy of AirBnB since I first discovered it, my goal is to try to create for my guests the experience I would like for myself when travelling. As I live abroad, I manage all the communication with guests while my family takes care of welcoming them and ensuring their needs are met during their stay. Veniteci a trovare numerosi!
