Our warm and inviting spare room is a great inexpensive getaway in Austin. We offer a comfy queen size bed, accessible location and welcome usage of our home amenities, such as kitchen, backyard, and barbecue.
Nate and I have a guest bedroom with a queen size futon mattress and private bath (not en-suite) available for a stay for 1 or 2 people (max) in our awesome midcentury house!
The home is 4 bedroom, 2 bath, populated by us (married couple and owners) and two small dogs (under 20lbs each) - the animals will not be able to access your space, but I recommend that you are comfortable with them as they will be in the house and yard.
Smoking outside only and please be courteous of noise after 10:00 p.m. We love having folks in our house and showing off Austin, so please come stay!
You are welcome to utilize our open kitchen and living area with record player, TV/DVD player, and wireless internet. There is also TV in our guest room, with a Roku player, but no cable.
We have a laundry room area that you welcome to use, as well as a small spare fridge if you would like to purchase food to prepare in our home. There is also a charcoal grill outside of the kitchen in the backyard, if that is of interest.
We will provide you with clean linens and toiletries for the bed/bath in our home.
We will be present in the home during your stay, but likely will maintain our normal schedules, which unfortunately, prevent us from a great deal of socialization. That said, we are thrilled to make recommendations for your stay in Austin and advise on some of our favorite destinations or locations of interest.
Our neighborhood was built in the 1950s adjacent to the former Austin airport. Now, the airport is being redeveloped as a fantastic new neighborhood of its own. We are bikeable or a very simple bus ride to East Austin, Manor Rd., North Loop, University of Texas Campus, and Hyde Park. We are walkable to the new Mueller development which has a brand new children's museum, a grocery store, shops, a great running trail around a small lake, and restaurants. It also is a nice connection between our neighborhood and the bustling central East Austin neighborhoods that are full of awesome local businesses and nightlife. I love our proximity to lots of different areas, but that we maintain a funky and retro neighborhood feel. There are two walkable neighborhood bars, one of which that is also a music venue (the Nomad and the The Carousel Lounge, respectively)
We are less than 0.2 miles from multiple bus routes. Street parking is free. The easiest method to reach our house from the airport would be a taxi, which costs roughly $35.
