Come enjoy the mountain view near Bass Lake and Yosemite National Park in the Sierra National Forest. Built by grandpa from barn wood and wooden winery trays and furnished with a life time collection of grandma's antiques, this house feels like what a simple rustic home secluded in the mountains should. It is spacious enough to fit an entire family comfortably with ample seating in the living room and has four bedroom options. The house is backed up to national forest land up the mountain to the west. The house for a great private, economical and spacious alternative to the lodging near by on the lake. The property is over an acre and there is ample vehicle and boat parking available, a deck for entertaining, and a custom built fireplace for cozy evenings by the fire. Nature is plentiful around the home with daily sitings of deer and sometimes wild turkey. Resident foxes often visit the deck area at night. Nature lovers will be impressed by the variety and abundance of wildlife that sometimes frequents the area. The home itself is a two bedroom one and a half bath containing two California King beds. There is a two bedroom out-building that offers two additional queen beds as well as an additional 1/2 bath. The house contains all the basic amenities for cooking and dining with a full size kitchen. Wishon Point boat launch is the nearest destination on Bass Lake approximately 2 miles from the house. Miller's Landing is the nearest Restaurant and boat rental option approximately 3 miles from the house on the lake. Continue on the scenic lake route 222 and highway 41 approximately 25 miles to reach the South Gate at Yosemite near Big Trees, the most famous sequoia grove in Yosemite. Another 30 miles or so from the park entrance and you will find your self at the world famous Yosemite Valley.
Interesting fact: The south side of Bass Lake, near the home, is where the set was built and filmed for the 1988 movie 'The Great Outdoors' starring Dan Aykroid and John Candy.
Guests have access to all of the house and deck and the two outside bedrooms and half bath. The detached garage is part of the property but is private.
Interaction with Guests
I'm typically not present for most guest visits at this rental. I do however encourage guests to call me as first contact if they feel that I can be of assistance in any way. I provide contact to my help and neighbor, Ardel, if someone is needed in person when I am not in the area.
The house sits at the top of Bass lake annex. There are houses in the area but the house has an isolated feel being back bordering national forest land and on a large lot.
There is no public transit to the best of my knowledge. Private transport is essential.

We had a great time at Sierran's mountain house. I went there for a weekend with my wife and adult children (and daughter's boyfriend). The cabin was nice and comfortable, the views are great, and the house brought many good memories of the 60's Sierran responded very promptly to some questions about the house we had before our trip and also while we were there. It is about an hour south of the Yosemite south entrance. We'd be very happy to go back for a weekend or for a longer stay.
Sierran's mountain home was the best. Rustic and Charming, the house you would want to be in for the perfect "in the woods" getaway. It has an amazing porch with a good barbecue, to enjoy some outside evenings. Sierran was also very helpful in helping us understand where to go around to make the most of our 3-day stay. highly recommend this place!
I like this house a lot. Although it dose look kinda old and crappy from the outside, it's really nice and cute inside. Everything are good and ready for you to use except the heater( it does take some time to warm up, but you can use the fire pit)
It was snowing when we stay at the house, so the two bedrooms outside of the house are too cold to sleep in. But the couches in the living room are really comfy, so my whole family just stay inside the house.
Overall, I would recommend other traveler to stay at Sierran's house. Sierran is responsible. He answered all my questions and give me detail information about the house.
I'm glad you enjoyed many things about your stay. Thanks for pointing out that the central air needs to be looked at. We just had it replaced and for some reason it takes a few minutes to warm up and sometimes needs to be turned on and off once or twice to get it going. It is under warranty and I will have it serviced again now that I now it is still happening. The outside bedrooms should have been supplied with space heaters and electric blankets. I will look into being sure that that is the case. Thanks!
The cabin was beautiful and in a great (email hidden) has beautiful views from the balcony and from the bedroom upstairs. Everything was as described and Sierran was very responsive to all our queries. The place was quiet and perfect for us. We would love to go back to this cabin. Thanks Sierran
This cabin was absolutely wonderful! Easy access and a lovely view with everything that we needed already there in the cabin. Great for a fun getaway!
The cabin was so festive! It was nice to keep the Christmas tree up after the holidays. Lots of firewood to use for the fireplace, it was a really good time to sit by the fireplace and hang out with friends! I had a wonderful time at the cabin, and it's relatively close to Bass Lake and Yosemite that you can go on a day trip to the National Park no problem. Everything inside was clean and comfy with an excellent view of the sunrise. Kitchen has everything you need to make meals as long as you bring the ingredients. Looking forward to using the grill on the balcony deck in the summer!
We spent two nights at Sierran's family home and the place is as charming as seen here. It has amazing views and it can easily sleep 8 people.
Sierran was very helpful when needed and overall I greatly recommend it especially for people who appreciate this rustic feeling as this feels like a trip back in time as well.

I discovered airbnb from a fellow airline employee who, like myself, is always looking for ways to have a unique experience while on a budget during world travels. I later decided to post s vacation rental of my own when my grandparents needed someone to manage a home in the San Juan Mountains of Southern Colorado. I have found that I enjoy working with the many people who have vacationed at our home. I have recently purchased a split level home and hope to create a pleasant alternative to the local motels for guests coming to the University, enjoying the areas many events and festivities, and those touring through the Eugene area.
