About this listing
Nestled atop the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, this cozy studio home is a perfect base camp for your visit to Charlottesville, the outstanding hiking of Shenandoah National Park, and the vineyards and breweries of the Monticello region.
The cottage is ideally situated near the peak of Afton Mountain with breathtaking views. The Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline Drive, and the Appalachian Trail are within walking distance. A drive of less than 5 minutes will bring you to the award winning Blue Mountain Brewery, Shenandoah National Park, and several lovely vineyards. Wintergreen Ski Resort, Monticello (the historic home of Thomas Jefferson), and the culture-rich cities of Charlottesville and Staunton are all within a 20-30 minute drive.
The cottage is small, but is equipped with everything you need for a relaxing home away from home. There is a studio sleeping area with queen bed, full bathroom, full kitchen, and spacious deck with breathtaking views.
The cottage was completely renovated in 2013 including the installation of skylights, lofted ceilings, new floors, new bathroom, new kitchen, new larger windows to take in the amazing view, new plumbing and electrical, and new paint.
Getting to the cottage is easy (it's less than a mile off of Interstate 64), but with the incredible privacy and views here you'll feel a world away from it all.
Attending a wedding at Veritas or Afton Mountain Vineyard? This cottage is an ideal place to stay -- both vineyards are just minutes away, and the cabin actually sits perched just above them on the mountain-side. You can look down upon both vineyards from the deck or out your bedroom window!
A perfect getaway for a wine-tasting weekend, a week at the slopes of Wintergreen Resort, or a convenient base camp between the historic towns of Charlottesville and Staunton.

I've lived in the Charlottesville area for 10 years and love its access to nature, music scene, people, and seasons. I've also lived in DC and San Francisco -- both are great cities, but I now can't imagine living anywhere other than Charlottesville.
