The Space

OL 2013 080840

This eclectic comfy studio apartment is close-in and close to a busline. It's in convenient walking distance to the Hike and Bike Trail and Deep Eddy.

Located ON Lake Austin Blvd (west 6th) means you are 2 miles from downtown (less than a $10 cab ride) and you're in a one block walking distance to everything you need: Maudie's Tex Mex (great margaritas!), Randall's Supermarket, Starbucks, CVS, Twin Liquors and a slightly longer walk to Magnolia Cafe (24 Hour Diner), Thundercloud Subs, and Mangia's (best gluten-free pizza in town!), all about a half mile away. Deep Eddy, one of Austin's best natural water swimming holes is also a half mile away. Austin's Hike and Bike Trail is across the street.

The studio is outfitted with a full kitchen (including mini fridge, stove, oven, microwave, toaster oven, coffeemaker, and electric tea kettle), full bathroom, queen sized bed, a desk for work, and comfy large sofas in the living room. The apartment sleeps two comfortably and there's room for a futon if you need to lodge three!

Wifi throughout.

Redbox is conveniently located one block away.

Check In
  • Great place-- the rooftop is a nice touch and it's a very comfortable spot and a good location. Check-in was easy and Flip was easy to communicate with.

  • For my first trip to Austin I would highly recommend this place because not only is it a super cool set up, it's very close to downtown and within walking distance to so many things. I was there for the Formula 1 weekend. So it was nice to stay in a really clean, quite place while in town. It's decorated in a very cool way but more importantly it was really comfortable. Flip was very friendly, accessible. Anytime we communicated she was very quick to respond and helpful. I don't know what else to say...I'm coming back for sure. I would stay here if I were you

  • Late on a Friday, I decided to drive to Austin from Houston for some much needed R&R. I lived in Austin for years, so I knew I'd like the location. Even though it was almost 9 PM, Flip got back to me quickly, and was so accommodating. I was even more stressed out after rain and traffic delayed my arrival until after 1:00
AM, but as soon as I walked into the flat, I felt at home and relaxed. The flat is fantastic. It has a ton of character, with really interesting art and furniture, but it's still airy and uncluttered. It's absolutely my go-to spot in Austin. And I can't say enough wonderful stuff about Flip. Every owner/host should hire her to manage their airbnb rentals. The space is heaven. Flip's an angel. You won't be disappointed.

  • This is my second time staying at the Flat in West 6th and it was awesome as usual. The best part of it all is Flip. She is the best host around and always makes sure that she goes the extra mile to make your stay awesome! Thanks Flip!

  • Really loved our stay at the flat and would recommend to anyone looking for a cool and eclectic place to stay. Photos represent the flat perfectly and the bed was beyond comfortable. Loved the privacy of the unit and location. We took taxis when we wanted to play downtown and that worked out perfect and was not expensive. Very close to some fun restaurants that sit on the lake too. Will be back again!! Flip was also very easy to work with.

  • This place is amazing. I rented it for my mother who is from and resides in Sweden. She absolutely loved it, and with good reason.

The flat is perfectly situated. Easy access and super close to anywhere you would want to go, while still having a nice relaxing feeling of being your little hiding spot from the world.

Flip is super sweet and was very accommodating. She answered any and all questions very quickly in spite of a rather substantial time zone difference.

  • The Lake House was wonderful (I left an earlier review) but I wanted to give a special plug to Flip! She was incredibly easy to contact by email and text and very prompt in returning messages.

In addition, she turned on the heat to make sure the place was inviting as we were arriving very late and even had drinks in the fridge (we left a few behind for the next visitor :). I'll definitely be looking into her vacation spots next time I'm in Austin!

  • The Lake House Flat is an incredibly charming, cool pad that perfectly captures the Austin vibe. It's so convenient to the grocery store and CVS, as well as a great Mexican restaurant! We rented a car and were an easy 1.5 miles to Whole Foods and 2 miles from downtown (website hidden) parts about the (email hidden) one attached, plentry of room (nice closet space, comfortable furniture, nice sized bathroom and unique, funky decoratives.

  • SUPER cool spot located in excellent proximity to downtown (though slightly too far for walking distance, if you're on foot). Perhaps the best aspect of this flat is the incredible privacy you'll have. You'll have the whole building to yourself, with no other living units attached. It's spacious, relaxing, and really well decorated. Looks like they're doing a little work on the roof, which there is access to. With a little patio furniture up there, it would be the perfect spot for a beer at sunset. Highly recommended!

  • The garage apartment was great! Clean, spacious, quiet, well appointed, and private. It is a little farther from town than I was expecting... about a 1 hour walk. I'd stay here again, but I would plan on having transportation other than cabs/busses. Thanks Flip!

I LOVE AIRBNB! I've been a host and traveler on airbnb for 5 years now and have loved every single person I have met on the way! I started out renting out my own funky places and now I help others rent out their spots too! I only take on properties that i love and feel good about, mostly downtown and SoCo. From Shoestring to Luxury, I'll find you sweet digs!
