The Space

We're an easy stroll to Prospect Park, live music venues, bars & restaurants, shopping, museums, NY Marathon route, flea & farmers markets, art galleries and much more. We are both long time Brooklyn residents and are happy to help out with whatever you're looking for.

The room has a queen-size bed, a sofa and guest laptop. We have an additional bed that can be brought into the room as well. The room itself has three solid walls, with the fourth consisting of large sound-proof panels. Our bedroom has all solid walls. The guest room offers plenty of privacy, though not quite the level that you would get at hotel, but as long as you aren't yelling and playing loud music, it's not a problem.

Interaction with Guests

Our interaction with our guests varies. We will always meet you in person to give you keys, and will be present throughout your stay.

After that, it really depends on scheduling. We've had a fair number of guests that wake up later in the morning after we've left for work, have breakfast, visit some of the rich culture that New York provides, go out for dinner and drinks, and then arrive home again after we've gone to sleep. These people have had a great time, but our interaction has been minimal.

Other guests have been around more and we've cooked for them, watched movies together, and gone out to some local Brooklyn spots and had a great time.

We know what a busy, crowded and potentially stressful city New York can be. It can be a complete culture shock to even those who are used to city living. As a general rule of thumb, we tend to stay out of people's hair, because after a long day of running around the city, the best thing to come home to is a quiet sanctuary to unwind and relax. However, if you want to hang out, please let us know. We love meeting new people, which is one of the reasons we are hosts on Air Bnb.

The Neighborhood

Park Slope is one of of the best neighborhoods around, as it has literally everything you could want. Walk east and you're at Prospect Park, a 585-acre public park designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. It features tons of open space, a zoo, ice skating, biking, running, ball fields, food trucks and more.

Walk north, and there's great shopping & restaurants. Our guidebook has all of our favorite picks for area locations.

Walk south, and you'll find Green-Wood Cemetery. Inspired by Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where a cemetery in a naturalistic park-like landscape in the English manner was first established, Green-Wood was able to take advantage of the varied topography provided by glacial moraines. Battle Hill, the highest point in Brooklyn, is on cemetery grounds, rising approximately 200 feet above sea level. As such, there on that spot in 1920, was erected a Revolutionary War monument by Frederick Ruckstull, Altar to Liberty: Minerva. From this height, the bronze Minerva statue gazes towards The Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor.

Getting around

One of the best parts about getting around from our place, is that it's on two, totally separate train lines. Two blocks away is the R (and the D & N later at night and on weekends). Take it to Times Square, Madison Square Garden, Rockefeller Center, NYU, LaGuardia Airport and all placed in between. It, like all other subway stations are 24 hours, and easily accessible.

Five blocks away are the F and G trains, which of course, run to completely different parts of the city, like Williamsburg, the Lower East Side and Long Island City.

We find it invaluable to have two different lines so close to our place, because if one is undergoing repairs, the other will be running.

We are also on a bike lane, and there is always plenty of free parking. We are by plenty of bus lines as well, if you enjoy getting around that way.

  • Thank you for the enjoyable stay!

  • Adam & Sarah were great hosts in a fantastic neighbourhood. It's in a convenient location close to many cafes, restaurants and bars. The subway was also located nearby and travelling to Manhattan was pretty straightforward. I would definitely recommend staying in this area for an alternative New York experience.

The loft itself was spacious and comfortable. We were provided with a very useful information sheet and everything we needed was available.

    Thanks for a great stay!

  • We had a great stay at Adam and Sarah's place. The overall space is huge, and the room is incredibly spacious as well. Everything was clean and easy to figure out. We also appreciated being close to the F, R, and G trains, as well as a good selection of food nearby (i.e. great tacos, coffee, and pie).

Our only warning would be for people who are not so familiar with New York or who don't like industrial areas. There is a lot of truck traffic in the area, including expressways, and this can create noise at times.

We had a very busy schedule while there, so didn't get to hang out with Adam and Sarah much. From the exchanges we did have, however, they seemed like very nice people.

  • Adam and Sarah were wonderful hosts to my friend Andy and I. They were able to greet us when we arrived, gave us a nice list of nearby restaurants and other convenient places, invited us along to events with their friends and made us feel extremely welcome in Brooklyn. The room is quite large and both beds are very comfortable. I would highly recommend staying with Adam and Sarah!

  • Adam and Sarah were great hosts. They were very helpful.
I also enyoned my trip to New York and will come back anytime.

    January 2014
  • Our stay with Adam and Sarah was delightful!

We were very content with our communication with our hosts, the loft room was spacious and the location was perfect for our stay!

  • Adam and Sarah were great! My parents stayed with them on their visit to the city, and they were wonderful hosts. Would definitely recommend their place.

    September 2013
  • Just a little problem: since I am from Brazil, I could not call them on the phone, so I just sent them an e-mail. Despite Adam was at home when I came, he didn't listen when I knocked the door and he was expecting that I would call him. So my tip is: Say to them if you don't have a phone! Their place is big and if they are in their bedroom at the moment, they will not listen to the door.
I came to Adam and Sarah's place one day before my friend Ruben. Ruben didn't have the problem I had.

Despite this issue, Adam and Sarah are great hosts! We feel like we were home and any doubt we had about the city (and about an US phone number =P), they answered! They were very, very helpful.

The area turned out to be really safe, we came back late of the night (midnights, 1 am or 3 am) and we had no problems.

We recommend Adam and Sarah as hosts.

  • We enjoyed our stay there.
    Thanks to Adam and Sarah!

    August 2013
  • I stayed at Adam's place for one night and all was fine. The room is huge and gets lots of light; the bed is very comfortable. The building is on a busy corner but with the windows shut and the AC on, I was not bothered by traffic noise while sleeping. Adam and Sarah were good communicators and Adam offered to help me carry my heavy bag up the stairs - they are on the third floor and the room is upstairs inside the loft. All in all, they have a very cool space and I'm happy that they were willing to share it with me.

About
We are a couple in our 30s who enjoy hosting on Air BnB. We have a fantastic loft and after our last roommate moved out, we figured why not try to go without a permanent roommate and just have people stay with us from time to time. Both of us are, for lack of a better word, foodies. We both love cooking (he used to be a chef, and she used to work at a wine store), and usually make food a few times a week. Our latest triumph has been fresh pasta, which while time consuming, is so completely delicious that we try to do it when we can. He likes cooking Mexican and Indian, and she is a master of all things chickpea. We are also music lovers (though who isn't?). Both of us keep up with what's going on in the world of indie rock. He takes this knowledge to the radio waves on Error FM and she is an occasional DJ and frequent show-attendee. We have sort of gotten the hang of hosting on Air Bnb, and enjoy helping people get the most out of the wonderful, vibrant city we live in. Hosting is second nature to us, and we will go to great length to ensure that your stay with us is pleasant.
