Super-clean, uncluttered, private apartment for rent.
There is one large bedroom with a comfy queen bed. A nice full kitchen with all amenities. The bathroom has a claw-foot tub and best bathtub/shower pressure ever! Stained concrete floors, double paned windows, good light, lots of closet space. Private garden courtyard!
Nice new everything. This is an ADU (accessory dwelling unit) attached to my house. It is a basement apartment but does not feel like a basement because it is partially above ground with lots of windows and light. This is not a permanent residence for anyone; therefore, you won't be crowded with anyone's personal stuff! The place is equipped with extra toiletries, towels, sheets, blankets etc. I try to keep a good stash of tea and coffee and there are multiple ways to make your morning cup -including drip coffee, french press, and espresso.
WiFi. Private fenced courtyard with garden and sitting area. Laundry access is available by special arrangement for longer term guests.
I am prompt with communication and available when needed, but mostly I try to keep a sense of privacy and give you space to enjoy your stay.
The neighborhood is awesome. I am only 2 blocks from Alberta street (Alberta Arts District) and not far from the Historic Mississippi neighborhood. Getting to a great coffee shop, bakery, bar, restaurant is a 5-20 minute walk. You can get downtown in 20-30 minutes on the bus or on bike. In the summer months on Sundays there is a fabulous farmers market across the street.
Very easy access to public transportation and bike routes. There is a bus stop just one block away and a bike rental shop two blocks away.
If you stay here in the summer you can snack on raspberries or blueberries in your own private garden, and you might get to taste my plum jelly that I made from the tree in the back yard.
Hope to hear from you soon!
Private entrance through private garden courtyard.
Interaction with Guests
I live upstairs in the main house. I will be available if needed. We may cross paths and share a friendly conversation, but mostly I like to give my guests full privacy and sometimes we don't see each other at all.
The neighborhood is great! My place is within walking distance to many great shops, pubs, and cafes on Alberta street. Mississippi district is also relatively close. There is a fabulous farmers market only 1 block away during the summer months.
It is very easy to get anywhere in the city by public transit or bike. There is a bus stop only 1 block away and great bike routes are very close by.
Plenty of free street parking.
* Well behaved dogs are allowed upon approval and are not allowed on furniture. An extra $25 cleaning fee is required. No cats.

Lisa was a great host, really accommodating and really friendly, and the apartment was in a great neighborhood that made us feel more like locals and less like tourists. walking distance to great restaurants and shops, and wouldn't have had that experience staying in a hotel downtown. Lisa had good suggestions of places to explore in the neighborhood and beyond.
The place was wonderful. Everything was set up to make our stay comfortable and easy. We really enjoyed the basement being a cooler retreat from the heat of 90 plus weather. Very walkable location. What a great place! Thanks again for the wonderful retreat.
It was nearly 100 degrees in Portland, and Lisa's apartment was a godsend. It's garden level with polished concrete floors, meaning it stayed nice and cool. The apartment was clean, and we had everything we needed. Lisa was kind and accommodating, and we plan to stay at her place again in the future.
Lisa's space was awesome! The place was simple, comfortable, and cool inside, even with he high temps into the 100s during my visit. Lisa was a very accommodating host and great communicator- very quick to respond to any questions and was flexible with check-in/check-out. The park across the street had a bit of a rowdy scene with a lot of people hanging out during the day and into the night, however, I didn't have any issues with noise while inside the apartment. Overall, a great little spot with all of the accomodations I needed! Thanks again, Lisa!
The Garden Apartment in Portland was accurately described by Lisa. It was a great launching point for your Portland discovery. Close to Downtown and within walking distance to many brewpubs and restaurants. The Apartment was very clean and decorated very tastefully. Lisa welcomed us on our first day, we actually didn't physically see her but we knew we only had to ask if we needed anything. Lisa provided an nice booklet with ideas for exploration in the neighborhood and beyond.
We felt so at home in this darling apartment! Great walkable neighborhood. Thank you we had a wonderful stay.
The apartment was clean and had everything we needed. Lisa was a great host. My husband and I are not that familiar with Portland and did not know what to expect with the neighborhood. It was a little loud. The apartment is across from a school and park that attracted a lot of people in the neighborhood. They hung around the apartment area till rather late at night talking.
