I can 100 percent recommend Cathie's lake cottage! Everything is exactly as the pictures show and Cathie and her husband are the perfect hosts!
The cabin was exactly as expected from the images listed on Cathie's listing page. A personal note and her welcome bottle of wine were a sweet touch. The area is gorgeous in fall, and the nearby orchard was the best we've been to. This time of year, the road is very quiet (maybe always?) and it seemed we had the shore all to ourselves.
Amazing experience. Cabin is beautifully decorated yet rustic at the same time. Cathy was very warm, welcoming and the prefect host. I would recommend the cabin to anyone looking to get away and relax. The sunsets were spectacular and I loved being able to listen to the waves at night. My sig. other is busy with the upcoming election and I felt very safe here alone. I can also recommend the Aspira spa at Elkhart lake if relaxing is on the agenda.
This cabin was an amazing experience for a weekend getaway! The pictures are very true to the cabin - everything was beautiful, comfortable, and clean. The lake was just steps away from the living room - perfect for enjoying coffee in the morning, wine and dinner during the spectacular sunset, and a sky full of stars at night. Cathie was very easy to communicate with and not only did she leave instructions for the closest grocery store, etc., but she also left a welcome note and a bottle of wine!
The only thing my friend and I were somewhat uncomfortable with (and didn't notice when we booked) was that there were no blinds/curtains on the living room or kitchen doors and windows. But this could very well be because we are city-goers who like our curtains. Other homes in the area didn't seem to have curtains either.
Overall, we were very glad to have found this gem of a cabin! Definitely recommend it.
The little cabin was stunning and a lovely getaway. The peninsula featured as the first picture seemed like it was actually a different property than the cabin, but the lake view and sunset were really out of this world. The cabin was well appointed and had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend-- definitely worth the three hour drive from Chicago. Cathie even left us a lovely bottle of wine and a note! We very much enjoyed our time.
We rented out "Liten Stugel" for two nights after our wedding for our minimoon. The location was beautiful and we enjoyed two gorgeous sunsets over the lake! Cathie welcomed us with a note and a bottle of wine. We brought a couple of big, cozy bathrobes to relax in without knowing they had supplied them. We went fishing off of the pier at their home next door; we only caught one but it was very fun and relaxing. Cathie provided us with us with a note that included nearby stores and restaurants as well as waking ideas and instructions for the cottage. Te only complaint we have is that the note stated there was a bedroom air conditioner but we did not find any sign of that; maybe the note was old because it did appear that central air may have been installed but we could not get it to work (we didn't try until the last night when it got muggy). I'm sure if we would have called Cathie, she would have assured us as they were staying next door. Overall we had a very relaxing stay and enjoyed many of the delicious restaurants in the area!
Our stay at the 'liten stuga' was wonderful. We were surprised at how much big the space was in person. We enjoyed fishing on the pier, going on the water and the amazing sunsets. Cathy was very easy to work with and we would definitely stay again.
