Guests in the Font Room downstairs have access to a courtyard.
Guests in the Orb Room have access to our dining room and balcony for their breakfast. Both rooms have tables and chairs and we are happy to provide room service breakfasts as well.
We are happy to put things in the fridge for guests in the Orb Room within reason.
Interaction with Guests
Making sure our guests are happy is important to us, so although there are information folders in each room, sometimes we forget to mention about things such as spare blankets in the wardrobes or we might forget to ask if you would like a jug of milk for your tea and coffee. We are always more than happy to be asked if you need something else or would like tourist information. We are sensitive to peoples needs and as a lot of guests arrive very hot and tired after long journeys, we give you the space to chill out in your room. Just give us a shout - or use the cowbell if you need us!
Our neighbours are very friendly (mostly French) and for a village house, people don't find it noisy although the Bell Tower bells do go off on the hour and the half hour - personally we love the sound, but if it isn't your thing then you would probably be happier in a place not in a village as this is the norm in France. There are announcements on the loud speaker occasionally throughout the day from the Mairie (Town Hall), but not early in the mornings or after 1800. This doesn't happen on a regular basis but is good to be aware of.
There are so many things you should experience in the region but if you are only passing through Cessenon sur Orb, it's a must to walk to the top of the village to the Bell Tower - the views are stunning and also to wander down to the bridge over the Orb River as the view of the village is lovely.
To really see and appreciate this beautiful area we recommended either a car or a bike. Rambic Bike Rentals will deliver to our door.
We have a regular bus service, only 1€ to Béziers and in the other direction, a short ride to the beautiful Roquebrun.
Free parking anywhere in the village centre.
Béziers Airport is only 25 mins drive, Montpellier Airport - 1 hrs drive, Carcassonne, 1 hr 15.
Other Things to Note
Kayaking, cycling, mountain walks, vineyard tours, walking over the many tracks in the area or just blobbing on the beach by the river.
Bicycles are available for hire and there is an Equestrian School on the outskirts of the village. Just ask us by email for more information.
We do not allow pets sorry.
We have a no smoking policy throughout the premises in accordance with EU Law.
The courtyard is shared and we ask that you respect our neighbours and not use it after 2100 hours.
Consideration for our other guests, us and our neighbours please.
From Jun 1 - Aug 31, 2015 the minimum stay is 2 nights.
About the Host, Chris & Susan
Chris and Susan are a Brit/Kiwi couple. We have been living in France for five years, the last two years here in Cessenon sur Orb. What attracted us most about this village is the ambience and the non touristy feel. It has several cafes/restaurants and bars, a superette, pharmacy, three bakeries, a bank (with ATM machine), and much more!.
We both have a medical background, Susan is a registered nurse and continues to travel for two weeks a month to work in the UK as a private live in nurse. Chris was a paramedic in New Zealand for a number of years and then medical equipment sales. Since we opened in 2012 we have met some really nice people from all over the world and look forward to meeting many more.
We like our guests to feel at home and as soon as they arrive, they are handed the key to come and go as they please (as long as they keep in mind that we have other guests/neighbours).
We enjoy the great lifestyle here - we are surrounded by vineyards. We have been known to partake of a wine or two so that we are able to share our findings with our guests. The river Orb is threes minutes walk away for a refreshing dip and a picnic on the beach. The restaurants and atmosphere are great. The mountains ate fifteen minutes drive and the kayaking and canoeing are fantastic. Cyclists, touring bikers and walkers love this area - its beautiful but unspoiled and only 30 minutes to the Mediterranean beaches and 1-1/2 hours drive to Spain. What more can we say? Come and see us. You can also check out our website (website hidden). for loads more information.
