Eco House on Bali
Our little paradise is located 20 minutes from the main airport on Bali, 5 minutes from a golf course and 10 minutes from the best surf spots on the island (Dreamland, Balangan, Uluwatu - district Jimbaran)
Up to 4 people can live in our house. Our living groom (here you can watch a video: (website hidden) ) is typically balinese style, which means open to the tropical garden. There is a cozy couch, chairs and table made of bamboo. Also a little (2,5m by 3m) pool for cooling of, after a hard day on the beach or having a cool drink during the sun set. There are also 2 bedrooms, one in the first floor and one on the ground level. The bathroom has a wall around but has free sight on the sky, the sun and the stars. The toilet is European style and has of course a roof. The kitchen includes a gas stove, fridge, coffee machine and dishes.
In the garden grow mango and papaya, you are welcome to harvest and enjoy the great taste of a ripe fruit.
Our house manager Bob and his lovely wife Wayan take care of our guest. Wayan is also our maid. She keeps the house clean.
You also can order dinner from Wayan.
Pick up from the airport is included!
If you wish a great balinese massage, Bob can recommend a few people, who come to our house. Cost per hour approx.:€ 6.-
Prices on Bali are extremely low. 1 liter fuel € 0,50 a big bottle of beer € 1,30 fresh fruit juices € 1.-
Important: you have to rent a car or motorbike! There are no buses. Renting cars and bikes is cheap. From € 12.- per day (if you rent it a week) for a car and € 6.- for a motorbike. Of course you can use a taxi - but you have to negotiate.
Attention: around our house people breed chicken and cows. The make noise, sometimes during the night. But we have no animals who are poisonous!! No snakes or poisonous spiders, but of course we are in the middle of the nature - and we enjoy it very much.
You can see more pictures on our German home page: (website hidden) (klick on top called: FOTOS)
We rent our house not because we want to earn money. Our main reason is to help Bob, Wayan and the 2 kids make a living. So please treat them with respect, like all people in Indonesia and it will pay off.
+ Minimum stay 3 days
+ up on arrival at our house, bob has to register you at the police station near by. this costs € 5.-
+ at the end of your stay we charge € 20.- for cleaning. Payable to Bob
NEW POOL 3,5m by 10m should be finished by January 2014!
If you destroy anything you have to renew it, it`s that easy ;-)
Great house with a very nice pool located close to Balangan beach. The host Bob was quite friendly.
However, our stay was spoiled by numerous issues:
1. Issues with water - sometimes the water pump didn't work for 15 minutes then worked for 1 minute and then again didn't work for 10-15 minutes - very frustrating
2. Extremely noisy - there was construction in the host's house nearby which started at 8 am and was extremely noisy at times. Also there are a lot of noisy cocks in the area screaming at night (no surprise given the location).
3. No privacy - construction staff was going back and forth through the area where the house is located with no notice (imagine that your girlfriend is sunbathing in the pool with no bikini and suddenly these guys are passing by - well, this is unexpected to say the least)
4. Not client friendly:
- when we arrived there was no toilet tissue and the host said that we should buy it ourselves - what a pleasant surprise after a long journey especially given that there are no stores close by. Personally, I would agree to pay 1 Euro more per day for the house and not deal with such things (or at least hear in advance that they do not provide toilet tissue)
- when I was leaving the host asked me to pay for water that we used from a water cooler (about 3-4 liters). I have never heard of such practices neither in Bali (stayed at 3 other airbnb places during this trip) nor anywhere else in the world. After the host had noticed my confusion, he finally said that we do not have to pay - what a courtesy!!
Though I would probably come back here and recommend the place to friends if these issues are fixed.
Truly stunning place.
Just as it look in the pictures, even better! Although the map marker seems a bit off as it is actually in the little village of Cengiling, about a 45 minute walk to beautiful Balangan beach. There isn't any warungs/restaurants in walking distance but there is a sate chicken stand in the evening and many small shops for a can of coke etc. There is free wifi available just down the road too!
The lovely, lively housekeeper Bob will drive you anywhere and suggest great day trips for around $40. Also organize in-house massage and delicious meals for very cheap.
Note that drinking water, toilet paper, soap etc will need to be bought from the supermarket 10 minutes drive away.
The whole house and area has a lovely, cheery, peaceful feel to it and although somewhat noisy (neighbors pop remix all day on top of the roosters...) is incredibly relaxing and definitely far from the drunken bikini scene of Kuta!
Im so glad to have stayed at Eco Cottage. Its located in South Bali, a good bike ride away from Seminyak/Kuta & away from the hustle-bustle, among cool hills. Personally I loved it, the location, the tastefully done interiors, maintained by the extremely friendly Bob, located in the midst of nature. Bob helped us with everything, bikes, currency. There was a friendly cat on our couch & the sit-out is beautifully done with good Balinese influence. I wud definitely recommend Eco Cottage.
We really enjoy in Bali Eco House the real balinese experience. The house is great whit anything that you can spect and need. The open living room and the small pool with garden view give us a very relaxed moments, Bob and his family make us feel like at home. They clean the house all the mornings for us. The location is in Jimbaran area just 10 minutes by motorbike from the great Balangan Beach, perfect for surf, relax, or see the sunset. Many restaurants just a drive from the house. Bob rent a motorbike for us for less than 5€ and we make some tours with him, he knows the best spots in Bali and at the end is more like a friend that a driver. Don´t miss the sunday party!!!!! ( Bob knows).
The place is really charming! We enjoyed our stay there. The guest house is completely independent and gives you an opportunity of complete privacy with its own garden and facilities. Everything is clean and comfortable. Open living room with hammock and beautiful garden – great place to relax and have evening cocktail. Bob is very helpful and can provide you with everything you need – car, motorbikes, advice where to go, etc. He accompanied us to see Kechak dance in Uluwatu temple and on sunday party. We had a lot of fun! If one wants to experience the real Bali, this house in that wonderful village is the right place!
