Guest access

Guests will have access to shared bathrooms, TV, books, gym - free weights & water rower.

Interaction with guests

So far we have had brilliant interaction with our guests, but, of course, this is entirely up to our guests how much time they would like to share with us.

The neighborhood

We love walking out our front door and on to the forest path just a few meters away. We also have one of the best views in the area if you just want to relax on one of the decks.
Jiunji, Harumiya and Akimiya temples are all nearby. Jiunji is special, we have had many guests say that it is as nice as any they have seen in Japan. The entrance is looks like something out of a Studio Ghibli movie. It's a wonderful place for photos as there is hardly anyone there.
There are some great restaurants in town: Kaiten Sushi, Soba, Unagi (eel), Cafe style, Yaki-niku (BBQ beef), Traditional style and more. We offer a free drop off/pick up should you decide to eat out.

Getting around

We are a 20 min walk to train & bus stations. If our guests ask us in advance, a free drop off and pick up to the stn can be arranged. Also to local restaurants free of charge. We also have bikes you can use free of charge. Ride around the lake and soak your feet in any of the 3 free foot onsens.

Other things to note

Please note that we work week days. Monday - Friday, the earliest pick-up from Shimosuwa stn in from 4:30pm. Should your stay be on week days, we will be able to prepare breakfast for you, but you will have to serve yourselves. Unless you want an early drop-off to the stn (7:30am the latest), you will have to take a taxi (which we will arrange for you - 5 mins and about Y1,300 to the stn).

Super great house. Very nice and kind owner. Kim and Meimei are so helpful.I think it's much better than living in hotel. The most exciting thing is that the room and living room are facing the mountain and lake. It's a pity that we came back late the night before we leaving ,otherwise we'd like to chat with them. Love everything here. Thank you again.

We were hosted by the warmest hospitality by Kim, Megumi and Taj. From the moment Kim picked us from Shimo Suwa train station, he led us to the perfect places for lunch and dinner and even brought us there and ensured we got service. Thanks to Kim, we were led to the most picturesque shrine in the town. Their home perched atop the town is most cosy and offered a panoramic view of the town. Rooms-wise, there were nice metal heating rods and comfy double beds. There's also a very efficient fireplace in the sitting room. Little Taj is most endearing and my girls had fun playing cards and puppy with him. Kim and Megumi went above and beyond to provide us the most wholesome pancake and fruit breakfast and awesome quiche and pumpkin soup dinner. Simply sitting around and chatting was the best chill experience! Thanks Kim, Megumi and Taj for this lovely memorable stay!

Super friendly host with a wealth of travel experiences to share. You can talk to him about practically anything! The host, Kim, made a really hearty breakfast for us (pancakes, muesli, coffee, yoghurt), and we felt so at home. :) he was at home to receive us, and saw us off as well. Thanks for everything, Kim!

My boyfriend and I loved staying here! We came in late November, so we skipped trying the Jedi Trail (due to snow and lack of proper shoes!), however we plan on coming back. Kim and his family were very friendly. The hospitality was great! Always offered if we needed anything. Our first night there they helped us make an appointment for a private onsen in the area, as well as gave us many suggestions for things to see and do around the area. The room was very clean, and the accommodations were just what we looking for! We had a lake view. The view of the mountains and lake were gorgeous! The second day we we stayed, Kim and his family made a delicious pancake breakfast and pizza for dinner. Alex and I were really happy with our stay here. We plan to come back again to enjoy it in a different season!

Look no further: this is the place! Me and my boyfriend had an amazing time with Kim and his warm and friendly family. The house is perfect; the location & the view are amazing. The house is very comfortable and soon after arrival it won't even feel you're even guests anymore. Kim and his family feel like friends in a foreign country. We even had a lovely meal and some heartwarming sake with them on occasion. Take this chance while you can and tell them I said 'hi' :)

Kim and his family were extremely generous hosts. Their house is beautiful with awesome views across Shimosuwa to the mountain ranges in the distance. A wonderful place and good company to pause during your travels and relax.

Hi! I'm Kim. In our photo you can also see my wife "Megumi" and our son "Taj". After 2 years abroad, one in Australia on a working holiday and 10 months traveling around Europe in a camper van, visiting friends and places, we are back home and have just activated our AirBnB site.
We love the outdoors - spring, summer, fall and winter and look fwd to what each season has to offer. Whether it's mtb-ing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, hiking, camping, we just love to get out and do it. I've traveled to over 40 countries and have always been very interested in other cultures. Of course, I love meeting people and sharing experiences. We are an open-minded and warm family and would love to have you stay with us.
