Just 9 blocks from GFU, Wine Tasting Rooms, Restaurants with Top Chefs, Coffee, Pubs, Boutiques, Art Galleries, Chehalem Cultural Center, Antiques & City Parks. Set out on foot for a genuine small town experience! Or continue by car into wine country. We are within 3 to 10 miles of the Dundee Hills, Ribbon Ridge, Chehalem Mountain AVAs.

The space
Private entry with self checkin for your convenience.

Queen size bed, cozy seating area for two, updated full bath and kitchenette with counter seating for two.

Private Guest Suite is on the first floor and shares walls with the main house. You may hear sounds from the main house and we may hear sounds from the Guest Suite.

We are using enhanced cleaning measures aligned with recommendations from the CDC.

No Air Conditioning: Large shade trees, window darkening shades and fans help to mitigate, but not eliminate summer temps. Many guests have reviewed that these measures were sufficient for their comfort.

Heating is on the main house thermostat: During winter weather, temp is set by host at a moderate 65 degrees during waking hours. Space heater is provided for late arrivals or early risers. Many guests say The House at River & 9th is nice and cozy through the winter months!

Many guests have shared how much they enjoy the high ceilings, the rustic wood floor and the original painted wood finishes; however, if your taste leans more toward new and modern, the Guest Suite will likely not meet your expectations.

The Neighborhood: With a variety of home styles and lifestyles, you'll find no HOAs here on the South Side of Newberg! Zoning is relaxed. Many guests appreciate the safety, value and friendliness of our neighborhood; however, if you desire a more planned and modern suburban neighborhood setting, The House at River & 9th may not meet your expectations.

River & 9th streets can be busy with auto and foot traffic at all times of the day. Despite this, many guests have reviewed that the Guest Suite is quiet and comfortable.

Garden & Fire pit area in courtyard also available for your enjoyment.

We look forward to hosting your stay!

Guest access
You have your own private entry with key lockbox access.
The guest suite is yours to enjoy along with the patio out back.

Other things to note
Since the Guest Suite is within the main house, it shares common walls with the rest of the house. For this reason, you may hear muffled sounds from the main part of the house while you are in the Guest Suite and we may hear sounds from the Guest Suite. Many guests have reviewed that they enjoyed a quiet and peaceful stay at The House at River & 9th.

We have indoor cats who live separately from the Guest Suite.

As musicians, you may occasionally hear us playing the piano or guitar in the house. We'll pipe down before Quiet Hours!

Music Teacher, Mom, Friend, Sister and Hostess who loves old houses, wine country and the magnificent journey called Life. Three years ago, I struck upon the opportunity to purchase a 1911 Craftsman Style Foursquare house. It's true what they say about anything worth having will take blood, sweat and tears. It's amazing what you can do with youtube tutorials, the orange store, helpful people and experts in restoration. After seeing this old house come to life again, I knew I couldn't keep all this charm and history to myself so, last year, I opened The House at River and 9th as a unique Airbnb Guest experience. Are there newer, nicer places to stay in Wine Country? Yes, but, in my opinion, there is nothing like 9 foot ceilings, original wood floors and a hundred years of history to inspire a good night's sleep and a great memory.
