Interaction with Guests
We enjoy chatting with guests when they come and go from their activities, if we happen to cross paths with them.
Our neighborhood is quite an amazing blend of suburban loveliness, next door to the hip, urban restaurants and farmers market at Shaker Square, two blocks from beautiful lakes and parks, and less than a ten minute drive to Cleveland's famous hospitals, museums, universities and orchestra. We are only a 15 minute drive to downtown Cleveland.
4 doors from our home is a stop of the rapid transit train, a type of trolley that goes directly downtown and on to the Science Center and Rock Hall on the weekends. A bus that travels to the hospitals, Case, and museums stops only an 8-minute walk away. A car is fun to have, but not necessary to get around.
No smoking, candles or incense. No parties or loud music or loud tv after hours.
Generally, no pets (but let me know if you think I should make an exception). Non-smokers preferred.
If you can take a few minutes to create your AirBnB profile before contacting us, that would be helpful.
Please wash your dishes and leave the rooms as you found them - clean and neat. If you have time to put towels and sheets in the hamper when you leave, that would be ideal. Please also bring trash and recycling downstairs on Sunday nights for Monday morning collection. Other than that, help yourself to coffee and tea, enjoy the peaceful surroundings and view of the treetops, and make yourself at home!
Mimi's place is a beautiful old home with lovely gardens, located right in the heart of Shaker Heights, one of my favorite neighborhoods in Cleveland. The neighborhood is full of walking paths and greenery, large old homes, and tasty and eclectic food options. When I came back to the home each night, Mimi and her husband and daughter were always friendly and chatty. They even asked me to eat with them one night! They also allowed me arrive an hour early and stay an hour later than check-out time, which was very convenient.
I thought my stay was wonderful, and I would certainly return. Future guests should know before booking, though, that it's an older home with older furnishings. Compared to other airbnbs I've stayed at, it felt more like staying in a home and less like a hotel (which could be good or bad, depending on what you're looking for-- as I said, I hope to return!). During my stay, the toilet stopped flushing a couple times, though Mimi's husband was very responsive and always came up to fix it as soon as he could. They also sometimes have film crews come to look at the place occasionally when they're considering shooting something at the house (cool, right?!), and on these days, you'll need to pick up your belongings, make the bed, etc. to ready it for the film crew.
Overall, a lovely home with attentive and kind hosts!
Mimi and Bill are very friendly hosts, making us feel like home. We had wonderful experience when staying there. The house is really beautiful and the suite is comfortable. The environment around the house is really nice. Also, we had a lot of fun with their cat, Benjamin.
Hosts were great and accommodating. Clean and in lovely neighborhood close to rapid transit . Great alternative to a hotel.
Mimi and Bill's hospitality was second to none. We had a long day of travel with tons of road construction causing us a two hour delay in our arrival time. Mimi and Bill went the extra mile, picking us up yogurt, milk and creamer for breakfast.
Mimi greeted us like an old friend at the frond drive. It was wonderful feeling like we had just arrived home from a long trip.
We were not "home" much - but when we were, Mimi and Bill always greeted us with a welcoming smile and heart-felt conversation.
When traveling to Cleveland in the future, we will definitely give them a call . . . for a home-away-from-home kind of feeling ;)
Wonderful property, wonderdul location, wonderful hosts. Extremely accommodating. We were moving our daughter into an apartment in Cleveland from Portland, OR and ran across some difficulties. Thankfully our hosts were understanding and allowed us to in my words, impose upon them. Mimi and Bill were very helpful as far as how to get around, where to eat and shop, and with general Cleveland knowledge. The property is beautiful. We stayed in their 3rd floor suite which is two bedrooms and a bathroom, a kitchenette of sorts, and air conditioned. It's a little creaky but the home is 101 years old! It was very clean as well. I would whole heartedly recommend staying with Mimi and Bill. Oh, they have three cats but they are not allowed on the third floor, my wife and daughter are allergic to cats but had no problems. Benjamin was my favorite and loves to have his neck scratched. Thanks Mimi and Bill!
We loved our stay here in this lovely home in a lovely neighborhood. Our hosts made us feel very welcome, and we interacted with them on our visit, even sitting in the garden with them one evening. The accommodations were comfortable, and we had everything we needed.
Mimi and her husband Bill were very welcoming, friendly and made us feel comfortable. This was our first experience renting a airbnb and we really enjoyed it much more than a hotel. Their home is beautiful, clean and the most beautiful neighborhood with tree lined streets and big amazing homes to look at. We had our own private area with 2 bedrooms, bath and a small kitchen area with TV. We relaxed and enjoyed the quietness when we returned from our day. From their home is a short walk around the neighborhood to a quaint area for shopping and restaurants and a beautiful park like area with a lake and trails. We loved staying at their home!

I grew up in Cleveland, lived in the NYC/NJ area for many years and moved back here in 2003. I love being back - it is so easy to get places, so affordable and people are so nice and friendly. You can enjoy the beauty of nature all around you when you walk out your door and still be near countless cultural and urban pleasures a few blocks away.
I still love visiting New York and look forward to doing a lot more travel in the years ahead.
