Enjoy the serenity of the mountains while having the convenience of a central location
The "John Muir Cabin" is one of four cabins on the property of Inspirations at Big Bear Lake. The property is convienent to Big Bear Village & resturants and both ski resorts and only a couple blocks from Meadows Park and the lake. Each cabin, except the "In to the Woods" cabin(see cabin description)has one bedroom and bath with living room and small kitchenette. Also, each cabin has Satelite TV and WiFi. Note: Mountain WiFi is not as consistant as Big City WiFi.
NEW BEDS! YEAH! King size.
The cabins now have 32" flat screen TV's and DVD players
Inspirations has been created as a place for guests to come to enjoy and refresh in the beautiful Southern California mountains. There is also a main house and project rooms for groups.
Each cabin (and room in the main house) is decorated around a theme that Lorraine, the Inn Keeper, thinks inspire people. The yard is a fun and peaceful place to read or just sit and relax. Have established the designation of being a Hummingbbird and buttlerfly habitat.
There is lots to do in Big Bear in every season. Clean air and friendly people make Big Bear Lake the best mountain vacation spot in Southern California. So come on up and enjoy.
Please note: There is a two night minimum stay on three day and holiday weekends. Christmas Holiday season, Dec. 19-Jan. 5 has a three night minimum. Check in time is 2pm and check out time is 11am.
Winter Snow Policy: Consideration will be given to re-booking your stay if snow fall closes two of the three roads into Big Bear the day of your arrival. This would be available to you for the period within 90 days of your reservation.

Aside from the cozy comfort of the cabin, there is a great outdoor seating area with an outdoor fire pit.(propane-no open fires allowed) Not available in winter

The cabin is close to everything you would want in Big Bear, but the neighborhood is very quiet.

Lorraine wasn't there when we arrived, but she gave us perfect instructions on how to get in and situated. The cabin was perfect for my boyfriend and I! Just had a quick one night stay and went snowboarding the next day. We absolutely loved the cabin and wished we could stay longer! It had everything we needed! The whole cabin was easy to use with directions in the manual. Loved the wifi, and LOVED the little love seat that turned into recliners! We were so comfy and had a great time!
Perfectly cozy and cute little cabin with all the amenities that you could possibly need. would definitely rent again!
Lorraine was not in Big Bear at the time of our trip but emailed me beforehand with very easy directions and specifications. My boyfriend & I came up from San Diego for our anniversary and it was the perfect spot for a little getaway! The John Muir cabin is so cute & cozy & perfect for two. We absolutely loved that it is just a short walk from the lake! We made most of our meals during our stay and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. Overall a great experience, thank you to Lorraine!
This place was awesome. I stayed in the John Muir cabin and it was a perfect getaway for 2 trying to ski and explore the Big Bear area.
The cabin itself is great and had everything we needed from dishes, pots/pans to towels and shampoos. The real bonus for us, though, was the cabin's location.
It's barely a 5 minute drive to Big Bear Snow Summit for skiing and is about a 10 minute walk down the road to the lake.
The size of the cabin wouldn't work well for more than 2 people but if that's what you're looking for I could not recommend this place more highly.
Also, I didn't even get a chance to meet Lorraine in person but she was so clear with directions etc. that there were no problems at all. Keeping this place in mind for my next Big Bear outing.
We loved staying at the John Muir cabin at Inspirations at Big Bear. It had all the amenities like home: a kitchen with refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee maker, and plenty of blankets, tv with cable and DVD player. Lorraine gave us all the information we needed ahead of time. It was easy to find. The best part was it was so close to everything. We will be back!
Great little cabin with great location! It was perfect for two people to stay in and very comfortable. Lorainne always responded quickly to any questions we had and will definitely look into staying here again. Great spot for a small getaway from the city.

Together with my son and the rest of family, we created Inspirations at Big Bear Lake. It has been a dream of mine for many years to create a place where groups can come to refresh and enjoy spending time immersed in their creative passion.
The property has a main house and project room for groups but also came with the three cabins. I have been able to use all the talents and activities that I love creating a great place. Everything about this project was fun because I love all types of crafts, decorating, cooking and meeting new people.
I have two grown children who have married wonderful people and provided me with four fabulous Grandchildren. I always enjoy having them up to Big Bear when there are no guests in the house.
I have also been in the travel business for over 25 years and love cruising and other types of travel. I have always felt that traveling, visiting new areas and meeting the locals helps us to be a more tolerate person.
I would love to have you come up and enjoy this with me.
