Getting in touch with the property manager Angie was painless. She was welcoming and walked us through the amenities and local attractions when we arrived. The unit we stayed in also came with maid service which was good as well. One thing that you will want to keep in mind if you're visiting is that the home is on a pretty steep hill (at least 45 degrees). We did not rent a 4x4, so we weren't able to park directly on the property. My boyfriend was a saint for lugging my luggage up and down, so keep that in mind. The walk up the hill was good exercise to start the day, though. Also keep in mind that it can get hot. There is no AC but they do provide two fans.
Overall, the experience was great. We had a rental car so Quepos was only ~3 mins away by car. There were also restaurants in walking distance (across the street and 2-5 minutes away in both directions). By far the best part of the experience was the amazing view we had from our balcony into the bay. Laying in the hammock and seeing the sun set over the pacific was incredible, as was waking up to the view. We highly recommend staying here.
We were welcomed by the suggestion that we arrive at a large, easy to find restaurant in town and call him. That worked very well and we were shown to the apartment by a friendly staff person our first night. The apartment was even better than I'd imagined as the view is absolutely fantastic from bedroom and porch off the bedroom. One looks west over treetops to the ocean and a large island. The plantings around the apartment are gorgeous and the neighborhood is full of good places to eat. The town is very hilly, so walking to and from the beaches is a challenge. They are accessible by buses which run frequently and taxis.
Thomas is a great host and was super nice by meeting us and showing the place. Studio itself is located in w beautiful and very safe area. It has outstanding view from the porch, as well as all sorts of wildlife. It was quite amazing to see all of the birds and animals just sitting outside and reading a book. However the place has a terrible noise from the neighbours. It doesn't matter whether they are quite or not, you will hear everything that's happening behind thE wall. We got unlucky and had very loud group of friends staying above us. It was quite impossible at night to fall asleep. Even though the studio is pretty neat and cleaner comes every two days, we had cockroaches in the bathroom and some other little bugs. Not nice.
Thomas was great about getting in contact with us and guiding us to the location.
There are 3 things you notice most when arriving. First, the steep hill. I didn't feel like I needed to go to the gym, as you get a real workout going up and down it each day. There is no parking by the Villa either, so you have to hike in and out each day, regardless if your car can make it up or not (better have 4x4).
The second thing you notice is the view. The view is incredible, and honestly makes up for the issues with this place.
Finally, the heat. There is no AC and the heat was basically unbearable from 8am to 10pm. There are fans, but they're floor fans (I think ceiling fans would be much better for this). If I were to do this trip again, I would get a place with AC. I'm willing to accept this is just my personal preference.
The house was very clean, with a beautiful view, and a great hammock. Definitely park at the top of the driveway as it was too steep for our car! There is not a stove or any counter space, but there is a coffee maker with coffee filters. We loved all of the help in finding a guide to go through the park and a tour company to take us snorkeling. Check out was at 9am, a bit earlier than we had planned on leaving. But we were able to leave our car/packed bags a bit longer (so we could go to the beach in the morning. We had a lovely time in the house!
Thanks for the great comment and pointing it out: Yes, we only have a kitchenette at the Studios, a small Refrigerator, Coffee Maker, Microwave, plates, cups, glasses and silverware are provided.
Check out time is at 10 am, as it can be seen on the listing details, but we are flexible, as you mention it!
Bon accueil, bon contact.

About the Host, Thomas + Lili
Moved from Switzerland 16 years ago, just love it here! The people are "pura vida", life is so easy, the climate is very healthy! Very lucky to have purchased a big piece of property in the Playa Macha area, declared as green zone, where I offer the Tree House and Villa Malinche. It's almost like the National Park, lot's of wildlife and very peaceful, surrounded by lush rain forest!
My wife Lili is a licensed physic therapist, also with a great dedication for massage treatments, she can make you feel in heaven.... Don't miss an onsite treatment during your stay!
We are happy to share this relaxed jungle feeling on our property with the people we meet through Airbnb. Just lay back in the hammocks, taste the famous coffee and watch the monkeys fly by...
