Lake view

Soak up the view during your stay.
Magnificent historic Log Cabin located on the shores of a private 10 acre lake surrounded by over hundreds of acres of forested isolation. One mile into the woods and away from the stress, hustle and bustle of everyday life. Access to 100 acre parcel for walking trails, fishing, canoeing, swimming, campfire and wildlife. Great opportunity to unplug from the stress and engage with family and friends! A great spot for an artist retreat!

The space
A one of a kind getaway with history to boot! The two story log structure was built by Abraham Moore in the early part of the 19th century. There are architectural components from several other local historic structures that were saved from the burn pile!
Beams and some logs from the Pre revolutionary Frederick Boozer cabin
Wainscoting and ceiling rafters from the John Harmon Home ca 1790
Additional bedroom contains wood salvaged from the Will Praylow share cropper cabin from 1919.
After driving a mile through the forests, the road ends at the front porch that overlooks a fish filled ten acre lake.
One of a kind place that you will build memories to sustain a life time!!

Guest access
The entire two story 1820 Log Cabin is yours to enjoy as well as the 10 acre Lake and 100 acres of surrounding property.

Other things to note
The cabin has electric along with split units providing heat for the cooler months and A/C for the summer.
Note that the heat in the winter is not as efficient as in your own home. The high ceilings and original historic windows mean that the very cold nights (below 40) can lead to a chilly experience. The fireplace in the living area is wonderfully cozy and can provide some additional heat but that won't suffice for the bedrooms. Expect to need blankets and comforters (all of which is provided) for extra warmth.

SO REMEMBER: If booking during the winter months December -February expect to risk cold snaps. Best to check the weather a week out before booking in the winter so you can time your stay with those wintry warm spells SC is famous for.

The stove and hot water heater runs on propane.

The cabin does have internet access.

As nice as it sounds above, this is still a 200 hundred year old log cabin in the middle of a forest. Though we have a pest control service under contract, it is impossible to keep out every bug, spider and mouse; especially in the winter. We are proud of how we can keep it to a minimum but it is impossible to keep everything at bay. If little creatures inside a living space freak you out, this is not the place for you.

The mile long dirt/gravel farm road isn’t the smoothest road. I have tried to stay ontop of ensuring new gravel is placed at the worst spots but the cost has skyrocketed and just not feasable to keep the whole road perfectly smooth all year long.

Cars are fine but if too low to the ground might drag a little in a few places so, if you have any doubts about your ability to navigate a road like this in a family car that is low to the ground, it will be best to drive a SUV or truck to get back to the cabin.
