  • This was our 2nd time staying at the Sanctuary. We will continue to come here anytime we are in Bali. Wonderful staff, comfortable, clean rooms, and close to everything in Ubud.

  • Sanctuary is in my opinion, the most magical place to stay in Ubud. Its located just off the main road, Jl. Hanoman, but far enough away from the hustle of bustle of downtown Ubud. It is a hidden paradise in the city. We stayed in Joglo Saraswati and honestly, the pictures do not do it justice. It feels like your staying in a 5 star all inclusive resort, for a fraction of the price. The village is super clean with lush flora and a crystal blue pool. There are several other properties in the village, which is great for meeting new people and catching up on the day's activities over a drink by the pool. David, Brenda and the staff are amazing and are always there to help. Taman, Made and the rest of Sanctuary staff are so sweet and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. They would kindly book our spa appointments, arrange for laundry, call for food delivery, arrange scooter rental or anything you would ask them to. Taman's husband is also a driver so if you need transport, do use his services. He drove us to the airport on our last day in Bali and he was such a sweetheart. Sanctuary also has night security so you always feel safe and secure. I could say so much more about Sanctuary but I think I am running out of words. Thank you David, Brenda, Sak Ming and the rest of the Sanctuary crew for hosting us girls, we will be back again in the near future! <3

  • My partner and I just wanted a night away from our home in Ubud and this was the perfect getaway. The staff was super friendly and respectful and the facilities were in impeccable. Be aware that you are in an area with other units, but the top floor provides any privacy you may need. Highly recommended.

  • Located just before Monkey forest. Getting around is easy for me as I rented a motorbike. Simple breakfast was included. They Villa is nice as it has upper floor for the bedroom and lower floor for the chill out area, which I think is nice. Generally it is very peaceful to stay but sometimes you get weird sounds at night like birds hitting on a glass window at night. Can be quite disturbing to some. The staffs are super friendly and warm. They made me feel like home and welcomed. Overall it was an amazing stay which I will not forget.

  • Loved staying here. The staff was amazingly welcoming. They helped us get a motorbike as soon as we arrived since its a bit nard to walk into town. The bike ride was only 5 minutes and theres lots of other things that are close by. Would definitely stay here again!

  • Wonderful balinese experience, just what we were looking for. On the edge of Ubud, but walking distance to town or a $5 taxi ride, peaceful, pretty setting. The villa has an upstairs bedroom and bathroom. Ground floor has kitchen, bathroom and day bed, blinds can be pulled down for privacy though its quite secluded. It faces the pool. The place is well looked after, with day staff on hand, breakfast from a limited but sufficient menu, and a night guard on duty. The wifi was good. Brenda is friendly and helpful. Definitely a good place to stay.

  • This is a brilliant place to land and launch from. It's close enough yet far enough away from the main center of Ubud. The staff is wonderful and helpful and space is clean and well kept.
I stayed here with my two daughters and we simply loved it.

  • Not every day you get to sleep in the jungle... Bring earplugs if you are not used to nocturnal noises as well as barking dogs and crowing roosters. Life in Bali is never quiet.
Ubud is a great pace to stay when making day trips around the island. We were happy with the location and walked back from dinner in Ubud (approx. 15 minutes).
Beautiful surroundings, great breakfast, nice pool and well functioning Wifi. Great value for money!

  • Joglo Saraswati was perfect!!!! The listing was decorated in delightful Balinese decor. I was not able to meet David and Brenda, but was graced to meet their amazing staff! Sak was very prompt and accommodating with everything we needed. They were able to help us set up trips and drivers for everything we wanted to do.

The location is a bit of a walk from the center of Ubud, but they were able to help us set up transportation.

Loved that they provided breakfast every morning. You must get their banana pancakes!!!!

    Definitely will stay there again!!!!

  • Nice place with very attentive and helpful crew. Villa is a little old but good for the price we paid. The wooden Balinese carving on the ceiling is breathe taking and wooden wall gives a nice kampong feeling. The shared pool is big & clean with the reception counter right beside it. Only downside is the private carpark right behind the villa is sometimes noisy and loud at night.

It takes around 15 min walk along the main road to shops. And more than 30 min walk to Ubud Central. Like others have commented, the traffic along main road is sometimes quite heavy to walk along, but it is still manageable for brave ones. It is best to rent a scooter to move around and it is only 50,000 rupiah for a day. Taxi is available everywhere for around 50,000 rupiah per trip within Ubud.

David, my husband was a set designer and furniture designer for the movie industry in Los Angeles for thirty years and worked with the tops in the industry....Steven Spielberg, Jodie Foster, Robert Redford, Bruce Springsteen and many more. His built the Captains Chair for Star Trek Insurrection and had the most "ordered" bed in TV history from the TV hit, "Mad about You". He designed furniture for many top Restaurants in Los Angeles from the Saddle Peak Lodge in Malibu to Malibu Adobe with Ali McGraw. His resume is extensive and his client list is long....Billy Crystal, David Hasselhof, Arnold Schwarzanegger to Keenan Wayans. He has translated that skill into building ten amazingly different houses since he's come to Bali. Our house is amazing and you will see why he is so in demand! I have a variety of interests that keep me busy. I was a hairdresser for 30 years in the US and clients still find me, even in Bali. I love doing hair and spending quality time with people. I have spent years doing spiritual growth work and now work with others with addiction and codependency issues and also do Money Coaching. I love this work and the chance to give back what I was taught. I've been an artist my whole life so our home is filled with original art ( mine and others) and I have an awesome studio..Anyone that loves to paint will fall in love here. My latest passion is teaching Zumba, What a blast! As you can see, we are both loving our life and filling the hours manifesting our dreams. We both are creative artists and love to explore the world and the people in it. Since we've been in Bali we've been taking in South East Asia. We love Vietnam, and Thailand for their amazing cuisine. We are frequently traveling, so we are sorry that we don't get to meet all our guests, but we leave you in the hands of an amazing staff and manager, Sakming, who will be your contact person.
