Joglo Saraswati is located within a small villa resort of 4 villas situated discreetly around a pool. The villa Joglo Saraswati is designed in a traditional Balinese style. The bedroom upstairs is simply beautiful and atmospheric and creates an idyllic hideaway. The villa is situated a good 20 minute walk to central Ubud . The walk is not for the faint hearted as the road is busy and the footpath either in poor condition or non- existent in sections. Having said this the villa is only a $3 AUD taxi ride into central Ubud and the villa is economical enough for this not be a problem. The most alluring fact of the villa is it's staff. Wonderful people Korman, Tarmon and the other staff, were extremely helpful- cooked lovely breakfasts and always available when needed to book restaurants , taxis , or responding to enquiries . It was my husbands birthday whilst at Joglo and some of the staff sang him happy birthday and when we returned from our birthday dinner, staff had placed beautiful tropical flowers in our bedroom with a birthday card and well wishes. A very lovely and kind touch. Thank you all for a memorable experience .
this was the most beautiful spot ever. breakfast was great. getting around was easy. the staff was sweet and amazingly helpful. i would definitely go back!
I just loved this place, it is tucked away and feels so beautifully tranquil.
It is a little out of town, which I preferred but may not suit everyone.
The staff were super helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
I would certainly stay again.
We found this villa, it's staff and owners to be an exemplary international travel experience. My friends from Java were able to check-in first while waiting for my flight in to Bali from the States. One minor wrinkle was in asking for directions to the place a number of different times and it seems complicated on both ends as there are really no road names. I think, also, that the community aspect of Balinese people is, if they offer you a driver (whom is most always reasonably priced, knowledgeable and uber-friendly) they are supporting one another in a tourist-based industry and if you choose to go it alone, getting there is not so easy to translate!? GPS is hopeless...again no contiguous road names. My friends live on Java and knew how to get around so driving ourselves in our rental car worked just fine. Don't expect traffic from the airport to UBUD to ever be predictable. It can take one hour it can take 3 hours so allow yourself plenty of time. And yes there are crowing roosters and barking dogs but not always and my earplugs and deep comfortable sleep in the gorgeous bed did away with any of its nuisance. The villas are beautiful! Authentic structures and furniture, local artwork, simple amenities like coffee tea sugar and potable water, linens, brochures a booklet explaining the area and delicious nutritious homemade breakfasts of eggs, fruit, yogurt, toast, and oatmeal. Yes to the banana pancakes, more like crepes in my experience. The pool is to die for! Refreshing very clean and if you float on your back in it late at night, the stars are countless. The five villas are build around natural landscape in an artful way. Though there are 5 villas all facing in toward the pool, they are all neatly tucked within palmed trees and gorgeous natural lush plant life. The blessings of incense offerings gently and magically appear at the opening to your villa or near a chair you chose to relax in or on the step to your top floor bedroom. I had my clothing laundered for what would be around $.30 and we sipped cold local beers and found instruction of what to enjoy around Ubud from a friendly and helpful staff. Meeting David and Brenda was one of the most lovely parts. We were fortunate that they were staying on the property during our 2.5 days there. We learned much from them and they are tightly connected to the ex-pat community that also loves and nurtures the experience of Ubud and of Bali. Brenda can put you in one of her high energy Zumba classes and has personal recommendations for local spas and restaurants. David can share his stories as a Hollywood native of playing music with Jim Morrison and playing architect to the stars! Their touch on this property is evidenced in the family they've created for themselves, friends, guests, and local Balinese staff. You won't go wrong if you choose this...
We have been 1 wonderful week in Joglos Saraswati. The whole compund has a calm and serene atmosphere and we felt at home soon. The stuff is perfect. They care extremely about your needs and wishes and make everything possible you want. I slept in the lower open room with the bed with moskito net and van and my friend took the lovely upper room with AC. Though it is not far from the road it is quiet and you only have all natural "voices" to bear with. With all the luxury service and the lovely pool the Joglos Saraswati is still Bali as Bali can be. Thanks to everyone and I'll return for sure. If you go there do not miss to book the Bali Massage coming to Joglo Saraswati where they have a professional massage bench, which makes it a dream come true experience. The stuff will help you to organize everything.
A lovely place to stay I couldn't fault it but beware of the rooster!!! My word the blasted thing wouldn't shut up and kept me awake from 4am onwards!!!
This was our 2nd time staying at the Sanctuary. We will continue to come here anytime we are in Bali. Wonderful staff, comfortable, clean rooms, and close to everything in Ubud.
Sanctuary is in my opinion, the most magical place to stay in Ubud. Its located just off the main road, Jl. Hanoman, but far enough away from the hustle of bustle of downtown Ubud. It is a hidden paradise in the city. We stayed in Joglo Saraswati and honestly, the pictures do not do it justice. It feels like your staying in a 5 star all inclusive resort, for a fraction of the price. The village is super clean with lush flora and a crystal blue pool. There are several other properties in the village, which is great for meeting new people and catching up on the day's activities over a drink by the pool. David, Brenda and the staff are amazing and are always there to help. Taman, Made and the rest of Sanctuary staff are so sweet and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. They would kindly book our spa appointments, arrange for laundry, call for food delivery, arrange scooter rental or anything you would ask them to. Taman's husband is also a driver so if you need transport, do use his services. He drove us to the airport on our last day in Bali and he was such a sweetheart. Sanctuary also has night security so you always feel safe and secure. I could say so much more about Sanctuary but I think I am running out of words. Thank you David, Brenda, Sak Ming and the rest of the Sanctuary crew for hosting us girls, we will be back again in the near future! <3
My partner and I just wanted a night away from our home in Ubud and this was the perfect getaway. The staff was super friendly and respectful and the facilities were in impeccable. Be aware that you are in an area with other units, but the top floor provides any privacy you may need. Highly recommended.
Located just before Monkey forest. Getting around is easy for me as I rented a motorbike. Simple breakfast was included. They Villa is nice as it has upper floor for the bedroom and lower floor for the chill out area, which I think is nice. Generally it is very peaceful to stay but sometimes you get weird sounds at night like birds hitting on a glass window at night. Can be quite disturbing to some. The staffs are super friendly and warm. They made me feel like home and welcomed. Overall it was an amazing stay which I will not forget.
