About this listing
Quiet room with double bed, in a nice neighborhood of Lisbon.
We rent a room with a double bed in a large apartment that is part of an old building which was partially renovated while keeping the old charm. The bed is very comfortable. The room is bright and very quiet at night: we don't ear any noise, even with the window open.
You have access to the bathroom, with WC, bath, etc., and to the kitchen where you can stock your food, cook and eat.
Interaction with guests
To make you have a wonderful stay, we will be happy to give you advices regarding Lisbon and surroundings (Sintra, Cascais, Estoril, Costa da Caparica and Guincho beaches, Tagus crossing by boat, how to get around with transportation, how to come from the airport, where to go to dinner or to listen to Fado, etc.). Feel free to ask us questions :-)
The apartment is located in a beautiful district of Lisbon, next to the Jardim da Estrela -a very charming park, and close to the Basilica da Estrela.
Restaurants, bakeries and shops abound in the neighborhood! You can taste Portuguese specialties, or buy your own food and cook your meals in the flat, where you will feel at home.
Yellow typical Tramway 28 and Tramway 25 stop next to the apartment and will take you in a moment to various sights (Bairro Alto, Chiado, Baixa, Sé Cathedral, Castle of São Jorge, Santa Luzia, Alfama, Graça, etc., but also Praça do Comércio, Mercado de Campo de Ourique and Santos with the Tram 25).
If you enjoy walking, you can walk down the Calçada da Estrela, and you will arrive to Parliament and the Jardim de Sao Bento. You can then go down until Santos, where the train will take you to Belém and to the beaches of Carcavelos, Estoril and Cascais.
From the apartment, you can also access the subway going to Rato by the Jardim da Estrela and continuing on Alvares Cabral avenue (10 min walk). Bairro Alto, famous for its bars and restaurants, is 20 min walking from the flat.
Taxi is very cheap in Lisbon; you can come back from the Alfama for example for about 8 euros, even at night.
Other things to note
We rent other rooms in the same apartment. If you are more than two or if you want two separate bedrooms, do not hesitate to ask us.
There are no special rules, except rules of common decency (no noise at night to respect the neighbors, go outside or on the balcony to smoke...)
My husband Thierry and I are French (Thierry's parents are Portuguese, but he was born in France). I came to Lisbon in 2010 to achieve a PhD in geography in the Lisbon University. We are parents since 20 Sept. 2016, when our little Philomène came into the world.
We have 2 flats in Lisbon ; sometimes we live in one of them, sometimes in the other one. We love karaté and tango. We love to share, and would be happy to teach you a little of karaté if you wish :)
We also love the city of Lisbon! We enjoy walking in the small streets of the historical center, riding bike near the Tagus river and going outside to eat well :)
We will be happy to advice you about what to see and where to go if you want to have a good time here.
