Mike and Karen have a vision to serve others and create a place for family and friends to relax, refresh, and reconnect.
Mike and Karen have hosted on AirBnB for several years. They had a three story home on 2 ½ acres where they raised their three children. When their last child moved out, they had a big house with empty rooms. Mike’s brother recommended they do AirBnB. They were a little skeptical, but moved forward with trying it out. Immediately a friend had an emergency and needed a place for their family to stay and became their first guests. The first year was a time of learning and growing. By the second season they were fully booked and decided to add a kitchen and make a 2nd AirBNB space. Deciding it was time to downsize, their wonderful property was sold. Mike and Karen then moved to a place on a canal, just off the Caloosahatchee River. Mike won a boat in a raffle drawing and they began exploring the area by boat. On one of their ventures they found a wonderful, tropical island property and knew it could be shared with others, just as they had shared their other home. They purchased the property, named it Grace River Island Resort and started renting it in October 2019. In August 2020 Mike and Karen added a 2nd vacation rental home directly on the Caloosahatchee River. In December 2020 they added a 3rd vacation rental home on a canal 1 minute from the river.
Mike's passion for family vacations began 40 years ago as boy when his parents and three children were vacationed with Mike’s extended family every year at a lake resort in Minnesota. They were able to connect with each other during their time together having fun playing games, fishing, shopping, water skiing, and enjoying meals together. The families didn’t live close together and the week at the lake allowed them to have the bond of fellowship each year. This tradition has lasted 40 years uninterrupted and has grown to include great grandparents, grandparents (including Mike and Karen), parents, and children.
At their 3 vacation rental properties, Mike and Karen welcome you to gather together to relax, refresh, and reconnect finding the same bond of fellowship they in found with their families during their vacations.
