Interaction with Guests
I love meeting new and interesting people and exchange with them our different opinions and ways of life, but at the same time I like to respect their privacy and peace. So if you need help or information I'm here to help, but if you want to be alone and need your privacy, I will not interfere.
Our Farm is in the middle of Maremma's wild countryside, inside a very large hunting reserve . No noises, no houses around us, just the sound of nature. We are surrounded by fields, woods and oak trees and of course lavender. Lots of wild animals such as pheasant, wild boars, deers, all sorts of birds.
The public transportation here isn't very good so I recommend you come by car. There is a parking place in the farm.
You are very welcome to stay at our farm.
Here are some rules we would like you to follow:
1. Please don't do anything you wouldn't like to happen in your flat.
2. Behave responsibly and with care.
3. Respect all the animals of our farm and the enviroment.
3. Please try to reduce the waste of water, electricity etc.: switch off when not needed.
6. If something is not clear or you need help and information do call and ask.
7. Enjoy your stay and leave the apartment in the condition you found it. Hopefully you'll come again.
Dear Beatrice & family,
We want to thank you very much for your hospitality. We enjoyed staying in the nice little house with the vieuw at the hills and the warm pallet stove and nice kitchen, bed and showerfacility. We felt at home the moment we walked in and were happy surprised that you made the house cosy with some vegetables from your one garden and nice narcis flowers on the table.
You were a excellent host! You speak perfect English and we could always nock at your door when we wanted some advice. We are thankful for the great ideas you gave us to visit in the area, like Rome and Sorano, but also the cave houses, buddhist place and the thermal source.
Toscan Italy is in this period of time also very interesting and beautiful!
We love the products you're growing. Keep up the good work!
After this two weeks at Podere Argo we were more relaxed and calm than been in a very long time.
Thank you so much!
Lots of love from Jasper, Rianca and
Lovely cosy apartment. Clean, warm and homely. Beatrice was a wonderful host, very friendly and nice to chat to. She showed us how she makes her honey and lavender products which was interesting. We paid a small fee and had an organic breakfast made each morning which was delicious. There is an option to have a massage at the farm by a local therapist that was very enjoyable. Beatrice has a very friendly dog and cat that we wanted to take home with us. We loved our time here. The local area is beautiful and the towns of Pitigliano & Sorano are close by as well as Saturnia hot springs.
Our time at Podre Argo was lovely, very quiet and secluded which was just what we needed. The cottage was small but very neat and clean and Beatrice was very friendly and had a folder of maps, places to visit and useful information. Sorano and Pitigliano are close by and we even went horse riding at a place down the road.
A major downside for us was the wifi - the ad says wifi is available but your have to go outside the cottage and pretty much sit at the back door of the main house to get wifi, even then the connection was quite poor/slow. This didn't suit us at all as it was very windy whilst we were there, sometimes raining too and not very pleasant to be sitting out there with your iPad trying to book flights or next accommodation.
Recommend you like cats too as there were 5 that we met, plus kittens, all of whom always seemed hungry and trying to get into the cottage! Not a big problem for us, but 5 was a bit much at times so this place wouldn't suit you if you don't like cats :)
Hi Mel and Don, I'm so sorry you had this problem with the wifi, our wifi is free and available for our guests all around the garden and in our house but, as I told you, it doesn't work inside the apartment. If you had told me you needed it I would have made you come in my house to use it as much as you want. We have an ADSL connection, but as we are in the middle of the countryside you can't expect the same speed you have in a city. Best wishes, Beatrice
Our stay with Beatrice was amazing! Not only are her farm and gardens beautiful but Beatrice herself is a wonderful, gracious host and so pleasant to chat with. We stayed with her after having done a lot of driving and exploring in other parts of Tuscany and the west coast of Italy and were so happy to come to this gem of a place in the country.
The private apartment is spotless, tastefully decorated and comfortable. It has a great little kitchen that supplies you with anything you would need for an extended stay, and a super comfortable bed that makes it hard to get up in the morning. But get up we did, and took a few morning runs in the country side, accompanied by Beatrice's dog Katie (and even one of her bold cats). The land here is breathtaking and you could run for a while without seeing a car - maybe just a farmer herding sheep or something. Yet, when you do jump in the car (which one definitely needs in Tuscany) you'd arrive in Sorano or Pitigliano in less than 30 minutes. Thus: this farm has the perfect combination of being remote without being inconvenient.
I would absolutely return to visit Beatrice the next time I'm in Italy. Staying with her was one of the highlights of my time in Italy.
A truly peaceful and beautiful part of the world. Beatrice's apartment was clean and well furnished with everything you would need for a self-catering stay. It had a large, comfortable bed with shutters outside...perfect for a good lie-in! Beatrice made us feel really welcome, with homemade muffins on our arrival. The surrounding area was geographically stunning - ancient hill top villages and towns - plenty to explore. We had a lovely, relaxing holiday. Thank you Beatrice. Highly recommended for a rural get-away.
Hello my name is Beatrice.
I was born in Milan where I studied Philosophy and Egyptology. I then moved to Paris to continue my studies on hieroglyphic writing. I travelled a lot and worked abroad: England, Spain and of course Egypt !!
But when my 2 daughters were born: Viola and Ambra I decided to go and live in the beautiful Maremma countryside. I now run a small Organic Farm where I make honey and cultivate beans and lavander. I try to eat mostly what I myself produce. I love wild nature, gardening, animals (I have 2 dogs, 3 cats, 3 hens and lots of bees).
I love to go for long walks, swim in the hot waters of Sorano and Saturnia Spas, in the Bolsena Lake, or the Argentario sea !!
